Great food, ambience and service. This is local for me so I always suggest it for lunch meetings. I know anyone coming will enjoy the experience.
Esin is a pleasant enough restaurant and our server was great, but in an area filled with lots of more creative options, its location in a mall, entree selections, and the ambiance weren't special enough to merit the twenty-five minute drive from Oakland. If we were closer, this might be a nice go-to restaurant when we just wanted to chill out.
The cocktail list was short and most of the options were whiskey based, which left lighter tasting options off the table. Surprisingly, a safe go-to like a mojito wasn't on the list - odd as it would pair well with a mere platter.
Well, we love Esin and have dined here many times over the years for special events, anniversaries, graduations, etc.
I will say that everything has slipped a little. The plates weren't as well composed, salads were over dressed, things were seasoned just okay. It all just looked a little tired. It was good, nice, okay compared to Esin of years past. Still great compared to most.
Solid dishes. Food was fresh and tasty. Enjoyed the oysters, octopus, scallops, and steak. Will return...
Table bread was warmed up but the crust was hard. Ordered glass of wine didn't appear for quite some time. After an inquiry and after the salad was served, we asked the waitress again about the wine. After a long period of time, halibut was served cold, tasteless, & overcooked with overdone & not fresh looking brocollini stems -- had to send dish back to the kitchen. Ruined my appetite and declined their offer to cook another! Salads were overly dressed: greens were limp, shiny & hard to fork. Pot roast was noticeably fattier & saltier than normal.
What happened? The food & service was excellent before but Esin owners need to replace or train kitchen staff. Otherwise, diners will avoid patronizing this restaurant.
The meals are great but the desserts are fabulous. Save room!
Food was excellent...all 4 of us enjoyed our selections. Service was friendly and good. Two of us ordered the prix-fixe option which was a good value. Waiter mistakenly charged us for the desserts (a very tasty baklava) included with this option, but promptly corrected it when we pointed it out. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would recommend this establishment.
Excellent as always
Attentive waiter. Delicious food and desserts!
Esin never disappoints!!!! Food and service are amazing!!!
Enjoyable and good service
They never disappoint.
Always a pleasant lunch experience; great menu options, including dessert!
Go there often and Never Disappoints ! They were out of Filet of Sole that afternoon, however, the Halibut was a good subsitute
Had the salmon it was delicious. My wife had the Halibut she enjoyed it very much. Delightful evening.
We had a great Sunday lunch at Esin. Our server, Brett, is incredible. He is appropriately friendly, knows the menus very well and was very attentive but not hovering! Other staff at the front desk and those helping our main server were great. We all enjoyed our dishes, onion soup, flatbread, halibut , fried chicken sandwich and one burger. We will be back!
We are regular customers and enjoy the private booth #25 when we dine there. The hostesses and managers are friendly, personable and accommodating! We have a different server every time but they are all good. We love the specials - Salmon dishes and Esin’s signature chocolate cakes are moist and delicious! We travel throughout Europe and dine at many Michelin Star restaurants but Esin’s cake is by far the best and my favorite is the chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and between the layers. We live in Blackhawk so it is convenient to have such a quality restaurant with with an excellent reputation in our neighborhood!!!
Always a terrific experience. Thank you
Very enjoyable dinner celebrating a 60th birthday. The server was attentive and the food excellent.
Delicious with nice presentation. Reliably good for lunch or dinner. I also like that they source sustainabley.
Superb food beautifully presented, excellent service, lovely ambiance!
We had a wonderful Easter dinner. We are regular customers and always have great meals. This was the first time we had the Prime Rib and it was outstanding.
It was Easter and very busy from lunch brunch crowd. Took a while for waiter to appear but he certainly made up for it by comping our drink. Also very attentive and so sorry for the delay. Great food.
We went for Easter Brunch and everything we had was fabulous! Our server Matthew was very attentive and great at explaining the menu. Go treat yourself to a wonderful meal!
Not our first visit to Esin but our first holiday brunch with a prix fixe menu. The variety of choices was great. We both had difficulty settling on just one and definitely shared with each other. Dessert choices were insane but to be expected here. All of the food was excellent!! Our service, however, was not what we have experienced in the past; slow with the drink service, no bread brought to the table then quickly paced food courses. I was surprised that mimosas were not included nor suggested by our server. The cocktail menu didn't really pair well with the menu offerings in my opinion; the wine and champagne we selected though were wonderful.
We had a wonderful dinner with the BEST waiter (we all agreed) that we ever have had. There’s no words to describe is exemplary service!! His name was Brian. He could work at any 5 star restaurant.
Very consistent food. Never a disappointment.
Waiter was very good!
My husband and I went to Cafe Esin for the first time last night. It is obvious when you walk in that the staff is well trained and everyone pays attention to details. Yet everyone is friendly and it is an unpretentious neighborhood restaurant. Very hard balance to achieve but Esin pulls it off beautifully. We had salads (organic greens and roasted beet) which were very good. Husband had chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheeses, wrapped in phyllo dough on quinoa and I had scallops on a bed of quinoa with fennel and an olive-orange dressing. Both dishes were excellent, spiced just right, served warm. They had a good selection of wines by the glass in 3,6, and 9oz pours with prices at $12-20 per 6oz glass. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. They are all made by Esin (the owner) herself and they must have had 8 to choose from including today's bread pudding. We shared a scrumptious bittersweet chocolate tart with salted caramel pecan pieces. Awesome. Service was excellent and our waiter, Matthew, was very courteous and knowledgeable. We sat at an inside booth and the atmosphere was animated but not too noisy at all. We will be back definitely.
Consistently good and the deserts are amazing. Highly recommend.
Fantastic food and service. Will definitely be back.
Everything exceeded our expectations and more
Outstanding all around.
Quality not the same as in past years/months.
Needs better quality control to regain old standards
As always, everything was outstanding! Great service from Jodie, excellent food, and desert to die for...
Overall Esin is great. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our table, even though we had a reservation. The manager was great and provided complimentary desserts and an appetizer. I do think the hostess could have done a better job communicating what was going on. She told us the table wasn't ready and then never spoke to us again until we asked what was going on. Better training for host staff on how to handle delays would be beneficial.
Went to celebrate a close friend’s birthday. As usual, the service and meal were impeccable. Server recommended a wine we were unfamiliar with. Brought us a taste in order for us to determine if we’d like to order it. We did. To top everything off they didn’t charge us for the birthday person’s dessert! Had a similar experience when we celebrated our anniversary last month. This place rocks!
It was a normal dinner at Esin, "normal" being outstanding in all aspects.
This was our third visit. The food, and especially the desserts, are very good. The service was very poor. I had to get up from my table twice to ask for things and our waiter never returned to service the table after he took our orders. We felt ignored...especially as two other parties who arrived after us got the attention we expected and never got. It was a disappointment since we were excited to introduce our friends to Esin for the first time.
