It is closed.

Is good. Truss me danny. Go on the weekend when they have live trap jazz.
Be prepared to pay top dollar. Good quality food at fine dining prices. Not your neighbourhood restaurant/ dive.
Cocktail options were plentiful, but don't miss out on the gin menu if you are a fan. Took the food recommendations from our waitress and were not disappointed! Already planning our trip back - I will dream about those churros!
Absolutely love this place!! Amazing drinks and the food is to die for. Love the branzino!!
An incredible experience!! Loved everything about our evening! We had guests from out of town and they blown away as were we!! Can’t wait to come again!!
Honestly WONDERFUL. Get there ASAP before reservations become tight
Food was all delicious. The mushrooms were probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be returning.
Very busy spot, all tables, except the one we reserved, were full! but it is not a very large restaurant. First impression was that it was very, very loud. Our party of 5 sat in very close proximity to each other and we had difficulty having conversation without yelling. They had loud, overhead music PLUS a live saxophone player on top of it..I’d have to say that would be what brought my rating down. There was a couple with a baby there, sitting at the bar area; would’ve thought it would be too loud for the little one, but her parents didn’t seem to mind it. Not sure if it’s like that every night, but we did go on a Friday evening, maybe that’s to be expected..
The food is fantastic! Tasty tapas and great for sharing and getting to try several dishes. The waiter suggested 10-15 dishes for our party of 5 ladies, but we were stuffed full with 7 dishes. A must-try was the pork belly - YUM! and also the truffle mushrooms.
All in all, would come back but maybe during a weeknight to avoid the bar, late night loud crowd (or maybe we were just too old for that scene)..
This place is amazing. The tapas are each unique and taste wonderful. Everything is a little bit different while still being appealing to everyone’s taste buds. The staff there is all super friendly and makes you feel right at home. I’ve been there twice and it’s already made it into my top 5 favourite restaurants in Vancouver.
Great friendly service, thanks again
Great food and great ambience. Live music added a very nice vibe to our dining experience.
First time visit and the food was truly outstanding, and service was lovely. LOVED the G&T menu. Only complaint is music level - loud enough that everyone has to shout and I couldn't even hear the person sitting close next to me. Its a sad thing of so many restaurants these days...if they turned the music just a tiny bit, they could avoid all the yelling to be heard over it.
Good food , and atmosphere
Escobar is very trendy. Beautiful space, wonderful cocktails. Unfortunately food and service were not up to par. Food was tasty enough but carried a high price tag for the portion size. Definitely don’t go there hungry. Service felt very inexperienced. We were a table of four sharing the tapas, the wait staff on multiple occasions swooped in to clear the plates which clearly still had a decent amount of food left without asking. We constantly had to stop them from taking the dishes from us. When we put in our order, we each ordered a cocktail and a bottle of wine which we pointed out to the waitress and she repeated which one we wanted. When my husband finished his first drink, we mentioned that we were ready for the bottle of wine which she acknowledged. Fast forward another 15 min, we were all mostly done our drinks and asked her again. She basically was like she did not hear us and hadn’t put the bottle of wine through... overall it was a fairly disappointing experience. If I were in the neighbourhood, I would stop in for a few cocktails but nothing more.
So glad we chose to reserve bar seating for my friend's birthday at Escobar! The bartenders / mixologists were AMAZING (super friendly, funny & masters at making unique cocktails)! The drinks were awesome and food was delish. Can't wait to dine here again :) Great atmosphere and beautiful decor as well. We had such a fun night! Highly recommend!
While everything was tasty, I found the menu light on vegetables and salads. I had the Pasta dish which was dense, and the Grilled Eggplant, pretty much the only vegetable, which was quite oily and heavy. Didn’t sit well with me that night.
The House Red was very good.
Had a great 1st time experience at Escobar. I didn’t know what to expect due to some of the reviews regarding the food, food portions and noise level.
Our server was very kind and I was very grateful for her recommendations and including her mentioning that it was 50% off wine for Wine Wednesday.
My friend and I shared the following plates:
-Heirloom tomato salad
The tomato salad and prawns were very flavourful and tasty. We found that the 4 meatballs were giant in size and were delicious.
And the Spanish carbonara pasta was our favorite. Perfect amount of cream and serrano ham and portion size was enough for us both.
Stylish but casual new place. The tables are very close to each other so it can get noisy if you are sitting next to a loud group. But overall great place on a quieter side when it comes to music so you can talk. I'll be back.
The server seemed offended when we responded that the foos was just ok. Why ask if you don’t want to know the truth? Don’t think we’ll be back.
On a positive note, the bartender and cocktails are most excellent!
food was very good
portions could be slightly larger for the prices and plating is not interesting as the food
this should be better thought out
gin menu is fun but a bit overly complicated as are the cocktails
wines list i thought would be better if it had more selections relating to the regions of the food
overall pleasant evening with lacklustre service
every one was friendly but we could have used at least on serving spoon with the many dishes ordered as it all meant to be shared
and water was not refilled enough, nor was wine poured after the round, and when it was there aw a lot of reaching over and around... for the price point they need to up the service
It was really bad. Don’t go plz
The food is very tasty, most of the dishes we ordered were packed with flavor. There were only a couple dishes we ordered that fell abit Short of expectation
Food was Super heavy on the salt. And not a good place for a group. It was soooooo loud. We all had sore throats the next day, as we were screaming at each other and due to the salty main courses. Nice interior design and Gin n Tonic selection
From the beginning to end Escobar was a great experience!
Cocktails and food very innovative and delucious.
Loved it! We were 4 women from the neighbourhood eating here for the first time. The owner/host was lovely, engaging and attentive. The cocktails were well-balanced and original. The food was all excellent! We'll be back in warmer weather!
Great food, impeccable service....just wayyyyyyyy too loud after 8:00 pm Saturday night ( we had to leave...couldn’t hear each other talking!) worst of all, they brought in a live saxophone player to ADD to the noise. I’m sure it’s better on a different day, but I won’t be returning on a weekend
Very cool restaurant. A bit noisy (Saturday evening - live music). Excellent service. Food good - meatballs delicious. A salad would be nice. Will go back.
I really wanted to love this place as it’s got live music, a great name. I really loved the decor and the server we had was great. The drink was delicious but the food was really, really awful. Not just bad food, it was god awful. The octopus was fishy, the pasta was gummy, the veggie was too sour. Nothing was edible. What a shame, could’ve been a popular place. Please do something about it.
Ambiance was nice but really loud, the women in our group was a bit put off by the opaque doors for the restroom that you can see from the main dining room. There was another restroom situated away from the dining room so we waited for that room to be empty instead of using the other one.
The food hits were the truffle mushrooms, pork belly, filet mignon, empanadas, branzino and calarmari.
The bone marrow was ok, it was too sweet with the figs.
The big miss was definitely the paella. Our server did say that the rice and seafood was served separately because it was packed with seafood. We thought it would be in a traditional paella pan piled high with seafood and the crispy rice on the side but when it came out, it was served in a small rice bowl with 2 big prawns on top and that was all the 'seafood' we saw. It was very saucy, more of a stew quality than paella. The rice was just their saffron rice side dish that they charged $6 extra so no socarrat (which is the best part of a paella). For $32 per dish, it felt like it was a rip off since we ordered 3 x paellas for our table of 12 people. It was the one thing everyone wanted to try but it was the biggest disappointment.
The cocktails are great and for our gin lovers, they really liked the gin / tonic menu.
We had 12 people but only 10 people shared in the family sharing style tapas and each couple's bill came to approximately $142. Some had more drinks than others.
I would still recommend this restaurant since it has a good vibe and cocktails. Most of the food we tried werea delicious but don't order the paella if you are expecting traditional paella.
It was very loud to have a conversation with all the tile everywhere. I liked the gin program a lot and some of the dishes and cocktails were addictive and very good. Some plates were much better value than others though and will look to see that addressed the next time. The cohiba cocktail brought some good escapist atmosphere to the room on a cold and sleety night.
Great ambiance, food and service! Will go again for sure!
Great staff, ambience and service!
I would recommend Escobar as a spot for pre-dinner or late night cocktails (drinks were great!!). Noise level was very loud for a dinner spot and food was decent but not amazing.
The food was great, love My flavours, the pork cheek was amazing. Its tapas style so you get whatever is made first which was a bit weird as we got our hot mains first because the table next to ys had that order cooking at the sand time... So we then had amour cold appie style dishes and it kind of threw off the flavours.
It was a Sat night during Dine Out and was very busy and so LOUD! People were shouting to be heard over each other, the music was too loud for the space it was more lije s ckub and the live saxophonist who was actually really good tried to fight to be heard so everything was competing. And its all modern and minimal so painted walls and ceiling and tiled floor. We were so ready to leave as it gave you a headache. Because of that alone I would not go back on a weekend. Maybe better in the week?
Great tapas. fabulous bar, excellent selection. food was tasty but overpriced. service was excellent. music was suddenly turned up so loud you couldn't hear your conversation. Jazz sax on Saturday night -lovely
Delicious food and a nice cocktail/gin tonic menu. Tried the Bouquet of flowers, which was similar to an Aviation but with more things. The garnish plate for the gin and tonic was an interesting add on. The dine out menu was great value, and the sharing bone marrow with housemade bread was delicious.
Excellent service and amazing food! The cocktails are incredible too, highly recommend.
I must say that the food was good, however, didn’t expect the portions to be very small for a very high price. I knew that the style is set as a sharing plate, but didn’t expect it to be very simple and very small. The music and ambiance is great, love the decor and lighting, the drinks are good. However it seems that they may be understaffed and waiters took awhile to attend to us. They didn’t talk or go over the menu with us.
Music was a little loud and hard to talk over, but they played good Latin music. Overall I would have to say that the website photos of the food looks a lot better then what you’ll be getting.
It’s great for a tapas night out with some friends especially for drinks, I don’t recommend it for dinner.
