Beautiful place and very nice wait staff but plates were dirty ( place was not crowded) Drinks were ok not good and took along time to get. Ended up getting appetizers only as these weren’t good either. They were out of a lot of things we asked for and the menu and pictures on-line did not match what they currently offer.
The menu is a wonderful blend of multicultural food from the Mac and cheese steak to Greek pizza. There is something for everyone. The staff and bartender were extremely attentive, outside dining available and prices won’t break your wallet.
Upon walking in I was acknowledged immediately even though you can see they were a little busy. The vibe was amazing! Everyone was very accommodating above and beyond what I expected! Our server Erica was the absolute best and the Chef Chris did not hesitate to accommodate my modification to my order! They way they treated us was like family! Shawn the FOH manager was also a joy with his hospitality. I’m locked in for as a patron for as long as they’re around.
Shane was a wonderful server, had a busy room of people going on and did a great job along with the barkeeps help and kitchen!!
Excellent spot to get a few cocktails while waiting for food, and every drink we had was made very well! The only critique I have is the communication be improved a little because we weren’t notified until a while later that an appetizer we ordered was out of stock. But the entrees were delicious and made up!
Average restaurant. Service was slow, main plates came at different times.
Really love the buildout and location of this restaurant. We dined here when they first opened and enjoyed everything. Our second experience was not as good. We were excited to hear of their opening after COVID-19. It did not go well. The server was not a trained waiter. He was not knowledgeable of the menu and it seemed obvious that he had not been in the business long. Appetizers were just average. The main course for me flank and Mac was average at best. The calamari came with a basic cocktail sauce and the shrimp cocktail came with a very bland marinara. I took several attempts to get a 2nd bottle of wine and then we were charged for 3. I believe the owner was in the restaurant but never came by to say hello and welcome us back and thank us for coming during this crazy COVID-19 time. We are a huge fan of the restaurants ambiance, location and bar. We are huge foodies and want Escape to succeed but work needs to be done. It will will be awhile till return under the current circumstances. Just be honest to help with the restaurants success.
We thourghly enjoyed the evening. A few issues with a new restaurant, but, we will come back.
Love the space. However, service was slow and the food was subpar. Also, the noise level was high. It was hard to have a conversation.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our appetizer and our dinners. There are many dining options in Five Points but this is one of the better ones. We will be back.
We were warmly greeted and Welcomed. The food was as good as described. The varied menu really suited us, we enjoyed the appetizer of Mid-eastern specialties. We definitely will go back.
We had an amazing experience. We had the special Valentine's menu which was great but if their regular food is just as good you can't go wrong. Great bartenders Nick and Meg hooked us up. We will be back for sure. Thanks again for a great Valentine's Day, so glad we tried the Escape out.
We went for Valentine’s Day and it’s was quite a disappointment. From the service as soon as we walked in the door to the food it was all pretty sub par. The restaurant decor was lacking any real ambiance - if everyone is paying upwards of $200 for their meals, some decorations other than plastic stuck on hearts would have been nice. There were also many excuses for why they couldn’t seat us right away even though there were many tables open - they were saving tables for people who were 30 minutes late to their reservation. The shining star of the night was the asparagus soup, but that was the first course and the meal didn’t stand up to it. Our waiter barely made eye contact with us and the rest of the staff seemed to have many excuses as to why things weren’t running smoothly. All in all, this place is pretty forgettable and we will not return.
The scallops with roasted cauliflower and wild mushrooms would have been an excellent choice, but was over salted which brought the meal down to a 3 from a 5. The pancet dish lacked flavor. The calamari was excellent, the fries good and the salad only so-so. Food was pricey for what was received. Just as I was about to sit down, the server spilled the pitcher of water down my back and leg. All forgiven as accidents do happen. He quickly got me some cloth napkins to soak the water out of my clothes. The bartender offered a free drink to make up for the accident.
The prices were so high compared to the amount of food served and the type of food quality were so poor.
The service was terrible. We waited over 5 minutes to get menus and 10 more minutes to receive our drinks. We had to ask for things several times before receiving them. It seemed like the whole place was unorganized (we were told there was new management and they were understaffed). Mind you, we went on a Saturday when the restaurant should have been fully staffed. I don't see this place lasting much longer.
Our table of three ordered the short rib masala (star of the show), the risotto, lumpia, the pancit dish, the potstickers, Tom yum soup, and a side salad. The soup was cold, the lumpia and potstickers were very good, the pancit was the least favorite of all, and the risotto missed the mark with the large chunks of parmigiana cheese working agains the rest of the dish. There were many open tables in the restaurant but drinks took about 15 minutes to hit our table and our entrees were brought out staggered and by what appeared to be a Manager who proceeded to question us about what it was that we ordered. The staff seemed flustered, understaffed, and disorganized, making it very difficult to relax and enjoy the new scene.
Did have any food, just drinks. I worked really recommend Escape Room, very relaxed atmosphere and chill.
Went there for my boyfriend’s birthday since he’s been seeing ads on social media about the place and he wanted to try it out. The reality is that is was dead, food and drink are overpriced for what they are. Food really wasn’t good at all, my boyfriend didn’t even eat his plate. Drinks were exciting either, he ordered one of their featured drinks which was strawberry based and they didn’t have strawberry, they had to use guava. Overall, the birthday date was a fail. Waiter was nice but seemed kinda lost in general. Paid little bit more than $100 and we didn’t enjoy anything.
We went for dinner before the symphony. I had the short ribs. Husband had schnitzel. We split the potsticker appetizer. It was all great. The short ribs were flavorful and sweet. We each also had Brussels sprouts which were delicious. Our waiter was excellent. Definitely will go back
The service and food were excellent!
We searched OpenTable for a restaurant for New Year's Eve. We're new to the Jacksonville area so didn't really know what to expect. Most restaurants were already full, but Escape had availability so we decided to check it out. We booked a B&B night in a nearby neighborhood and although our host was very familiar with the area, he had not heard of Escape so couldn't give (or not give) a recommendation. It turned out they had a fixed-price NYE menu with a few choices each of appetizers, main courses and desserts. The foods that we chose were absolutely delicious! The presentations were excellent and the service was fantastic. The pace was very relaxed, but whenever we were finished with each course, the server was on top of taking our next selection. Though the restaurant was full and it was clear everyone was busy keeping everyone satisfied, they focused just the right amount of time on us. I passed our kudos along to our B&B host so he can recommend Escape to others. It ended up being a perfect dinner before working our way to the NYE fireworks. Definitely recommend to others.
4th time we have eaten at Escape but, unfortunately, the quality of the food has been deteriorating. The menu is trying to please a lot of "nations", at the expense of some of the original dishes. Cocktails are still good.
Love everything about this place ... drinks to dining to service ... can’t recommend enough!
Service was spotty. Also an appetizer was not available. There were very few people at the restaurant and there aren’t many apps to choose from so this was odd. Cool atmosphere
Would have really liked to have given this spot 5 stars, but they truly need to get themselves organized. Even though we were the first diners at 5:30, service was slow from the start and only got worse. The food is delicious, but waiting for it to arrive makes it painful. One of our party NEVER got his food until we were ready to pay the check, and at that point it arrived. At least we weren't charged for it. From where I sat, I could see the host stand, and it was strangely unattended. Arriving diners were left waiting around for quite some time before someone would emerge from the back. We were glad to be able to get out of there before a large party of about 20 were being seated. Hard to imagine how that group would be fed, let alone the rest of the diners. Again, delicious food, but hard to see how this place will survive without some serious front and back of the house reorganization.
It was great! The lumpia was amazing, the sauce to dip was delish! The spinach pizza was great too. The flank and mac was really good, the steak. The Mac had some flavor that I couldn’t place and it made the Mac n cheese taste a little weird but the steak was so good that it didn’t matter. The Manchego cheesecake was super rich and had so many amazing flavors. Can’t wait to go back to try the edamame potstickers and the chicken and pancit and the chicken puff pastry thing!
Tasty food a generous portions. Everything was hot and fresh tasting. Drinks were tasty. Only thing was it got very loud inside really fast. Other than that and enjoyable experience.
Great mussels, steak and mac, and lamb! Lots of small plates and eclectic wine list.
The food was everything and the chef is amazing!!!
The food was outstanding! Service-excellent! Looking forward to future visits!
Thank you so much for the kind words and we are thrilled that you had a wonderful experience. We strive for excellence. We look forward to you joining us again soon!
Great addition to Five Points! This is the second time I've been, and I've really enjoyed the food. The scallop and mushroom risotto was amazing! I try something different every time, and have not been disappointed yet.
What a great addition to the 5 points area. Now our favorite restaurant among many excellent choices. The local has been redone with great taste. The food and service, simply excellent. The mix of small and medium size dishes gave us an opportunity to try multiple delicious food from a variety of cultures. Cannot go wrong with any. The hand crafted cocktails are also fabulous.
Looking forward to return with additional friends.
Great service! The lumpia and potstickers were amazing along with the short ribs and flank steak with Mac and cheese! We will definitely be back.
Good place with decent food
The food wasn’t great. The food was not hot when it came out and lacked flavor. Not sure if we will make it back.
Tapas menu. We tried the pita and dips along with the steak and vegetable egg rolls...delish!
Food was good, atmosphere was good. However the plates are relatively expensive for tapas. Came with a group of 3 and the service was very slow.. waitress seemed a little frazzled and forgot about us multiple times it seemed. This place has potential but maybe it’ll take some time for them to get it right. Not pressed to visit again.
The food was incredible! Great service and atmosphere! Highly recommend!
