Erik The Red
We've dined here a handful of times. The quality of the food has seemed to decrease over time. Additionally this time we noticed a note at the bottom of the menu stating "a 3% wellness charge" will be added to all checks... Seriously? Quite the turn off...
Waitress was mistaken about her some food offerings and they were out of one item we had wanted to order. Busy place.
Great friendly service. We were there on a slow evening. The food service was fast and the brussel sprout appetizer was outstanding!
I have been to Erik the Red 2x now. The food and the atmosphere are great however the waitstaff absolutely suck. Our first time there our waitress forgot to put in our order and we waited for over two hours for our entire dining experience. When we finally noticed that people would come in after us for getting the food before us, we flagged her over she said she acted like she had never seen us before. We had asked where our food was, she asked if we ordered and we said yes then asked who our waitress was and we said her! She quickly went through her notebook and seen that we had placed our order quite a while back. She promptly put our food in and we received it fairly quickly but that was ridiculous. You should also let your waitstaff know that when salads and appetizers are ordered they should come out before the meal.
Not much to write about this place. The BBQ was mediocre at best, and the drinks were not much better.
Chose the restaurant based on the online menu. Got there and the weekend menu was all that they were offering. One page of immense disappointment. Vegans be warned, you’ll end up with fries and a crummy salad...mine without dressing because the waitress could never remember to bring it to me. Won’t be returning.
We went there and after ordering it took our waitress nearly 20 minutes to come back and tell us that the kitchen lost our ticket but our food was up. Then we had to try and flag her down almost 20 minutes later just for her to tell us that the food was not ready and the "kitchen messed up" with a snotty attitude. I understand that they became very busy but multiple tables received their food that had ordered after us and she obviously didn't care whatsoever about us or the fact that we'd been there for nearly an hour AFTER ordering and hadn't gotten our food.
Great place and a very good environment for a business meeting. Quiet & great food!
It took a long time to get our food even though there were very few people dining. I ordered the walleye and they left the skin on under the batter. Yuck.
Really disappointed! We were looking forward to experiencing a "Nordic" bar. The decor and food definitely had a nordic flare, but the loud hip hop music and poor service really conflicted with the delivery of the theme.
They need more servers when there is a band playing at Armory. Sweet waitress, but she was super busy, forgot to put in appetizer order.
Had a reservation and was told you were closed for a private event. Poor.
The lefse nachos were amazing!!
I will simply tell you the experience, and let you decide. We arrive, and stand at the hostess desk for 7.5 minutes. No one helps us. My wife notices the booths on the left are marked “reserved”. She asks a server if we seat ourselves, and he gruffly barks “those are reserved for people that have reservations”. She informs him that we are those people, to which he responds “Sit down then!” OK, no big deal, we’re seated. Next, he asks us if we have a Groupon, and I responded in the affirmative. He promptly announces “you can forget happy hour 2-for-1s ‘cause they don’t count with a Groupon”. Well, aren’t we off to a lousy start! We decide, again, not to let that bother us, and order our dinners. The plates are delivered by a different person, who promptly leaves. We have no condiments, no utensils, no nothing. The place is crowded and noisy, so it’s difficult to get anyone’s attention. Eventually, I got up from table and approached a bartender who was very kind and got us the things we need. The smashed roots (side dish) was room temperature. I’m not a complainer, but I did bring that to the waiter’s attention, when we finally saw him again. He had the dish replaced. After eating, we waited for another 18 minutes to garner his attention so we could pay and leave. That’s what happened. Positive? Negative? You decide.
Best wings in the Twin Cities!!!!
Close out your open table on game day!!!!!! You accepted my Rez when it was game day! Disappointed we had no table when we arrived! We didn’t know...staff couldn’t help us
The menu keeps changing and the music is always too loud to have a conversation.
Not great. Only two servers for a packed house. Made reservations but it was seat yourself. VERY Slow service and not worth the money.
we were there for viking country. had a great time. had a difficult time hearing the program but wd able to listen to the podcast later in the week. staff of restaurant were great. we're up from Tampa Florida so just the for the week.
Busy night and loud with a football game on the multiple screens around. Good wait person but spread too thin to provide adaquate service. Food was plentiful but Taste was only fair.
The highlight of our experience was the lefse nachos...they were really good. The location is right across the street from the stadium so it could be a fun place to stop for a pre-game drink and bite. One person in our group had the sausages (three big links) which were pretty unique and if you are a hunter you'd like them...worth a try. If you go, be extra nice to Maria...she could use some random kindness!
Good Service. Amazing tacos!
No service outside.
Unfortunately, this is a dive bar; but expected a restaurant from the website entry. Just advertise what you really are.
Made reservations which were then confirmed the day before. The reason we chose this restaurant was because of the ecletic meats used in the menu choices. When we arrived for our reservation, for the first time, we were told that because it was an "event day",. Beyonce and Jay-Z concert in the evening, they only were serving a limited menu which was very limited and included none of the different meats on the regular menu that we came for - couple of beef burgers, pulled pork nachos, BLT, and a few other appetizers. Since the restaurant had our contact info, a telephone call could have easily been made to inform of the limited menu. Very disappointing since we walked from our hotel to the restaurant. We did not stay and received only a token apology for the situation.
We arrived at 6pm on a saturday. Nothing big was going on in downtown minneapolis so we were seated right away. the waitress was wonderful explaining everything and making suggestions. We had fun trying different food and beer. We will be back !!
Bartender / Server was really friendly, and the food (meat-oriented) was fantastic. Definitely recommended for carnivores!
Our experience was wonderful. Superb, attentive, fun service. Unique and creative food choices, all delicious. We’ll be back to experience more of the menu!
Eric the Red stands alone with its unique and appealing meat offerings, paired with deliciously prepared veggies. The brunch options are fun! This is always a place to come back to.
Lovely Mother’s Day spot. Staff was amazingly cheerful about moving tables to accommodate our entire party. Not easy with my 97 year old mother and my 1 year old granddaughter. Will definitely be back.
Decent BBQ. Not the best but I really loved the MN twist on it!!
I thought the lighting was a bit too bright for my taste. And the atmosphere was a little... cold.
All of the wait staff were fantastic! Although they were VERY understaffed for a Saturday night. Our server was also the bartender so it was hard to get his attention for even a water refill. No complaints on him though. He was just overworked but kept an outstanding (and funny) attitude! Great energy.
A pleasant surprise. This place is located right across 6th Street from the Vikings' stadium, so I've never really given it a thought. But I was in the mood for BBQ and it came up as a recommendation, so we went, and we're so glad we did. Service was quick and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. And the 4 of us each tried something different and shared, and were not disappointed in anything. I had the brisket. Dry rub with no sauce but melt in your mouth tender. Someone else had the pulled pork - succulent and tasty. One had the smoked turkey sandwich - great smoke but very tender. And then the sausage plate - 3 different kinds of sausage and they were all great. Wonderful sides (highly recommend the burnt Brussels Sprouts and the mac and cheese). They do brunch, so we're going back to try it out. Check out Erik's - absolutely a good idea!
This was great for venturing into some Scandanavian specialties. The smorgasboard was fun and unique for an appetizer, and the the unique sausages were superb for our meal. It all went down well with a tap beer, and the experience was fun and unique. You have to try it at least once, and we will be back.
The food and service were outstanding. Our party of five ordered a variety of foods and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their entree as well as the bords. The food was well prepared and presented. The burnt brussel sprouts were delicious - everyone enjoyed those. The mac and cheese was also a hit.
I'd definitely give this 5 stars for the good and service. Light on ambience but the wool plaid seat upholstery was very nice.
Great place and great food! Highly recommend for meat eaters. :)
Such good bbq!!
Comfy and casual ambiance, creative and tasty brunch choices, attentive and kind service.
We especially love the sides there. This time tried our first board and loved the smoked salmon one.
Wish they had a more Viking atmosphere like tankereds and such
Great food and service and the house brews are excellent. We were a little disappointed that some of the tap beers on the menu were not available. But we were all still able to find something we liked.
Food was great and servers were friendly!
