Eric's Italian Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is pleasant, nice and clean. The service was attentive and the drinks were good. Our food started off well with our risotto but the salad was ok and the steak was not worth it . My husband ask for medium and it was medium well and mine was what I asked for, medium. But it wasn’t a good piece of meat and not worth what our bill came out too.
So disappointing, once you get past the "cheesy" facade and decor it's usually not bad (there's an overuse of curtains that's almost comical - everyone I know who has ever been there or drives by wants to redecorate it). I've been there twice before and had a good meal both times, friendly service, etc. This time however (possibly because it was restaurant week) my meal was inedible - so bad I sent it back and just had the salad and dessert (and some cocktails). My two friends thought their meal was bad too but they were hungry and ate anyway. In all my life I have never sent anything back - not one thing but this was a disappointment. Probably won't go back but I'm hoping it was just a bad night for the chef.
I have been here before and came to celebrate Christmas Eve only to find that they had a limited menu, which I was surprised when they told me. I made reservations a week in advance and even called two days before to confirm. Two days later I received a call from Miguel asking for a credit card so they can charge $50.00 dollars to hold the table because they were expecting to be busy. I told them that I have eaten before and you have my number so why do you need a credit card, he was relentless when he called me. The menu was limited and I expected to see some more fish for the seven fishes, which there wasn't anything like that. I normally cook the fishes and when I made the reservation they should've told me about the limited menu. I am used to making it but because of surgery I thought Eric's was going to be great. No such luck...The service was horrible they need new experienced help not kids. The tables are to close to each other which makes it hard to get around in the dining room...Find another place instead of this place...
Went to Eric's for their Thanksgiving Day special, although their regular menu could be ordered from as well. Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere; it was decorated for the holidays too. The food was excellent, great Italian menu (aside from turkey) but the most outstanding thing I'm taking the time to write about was our server, Miguel. He was by far one of the most amiable, accommodating servers I've ever encountered. I would go back JUST for him; what a pleasure seeing a young man doing a marvelous job (not so common today). I had his boss come over to tell him so, but he wan't very gregarious -although he thanked us for complimenting Miguel (the only sour note that day). Definitely recommend!
There main dining room was too small so we asked to be seated in the bar room, very nice room but the tables were awkward because the were loose and rocked back and forth so they gave us another table, now our 3rd table. Service very good. Food just ok, I had the shrimp scampi, 5 little shrimp and risotto which was not great. My husband had the vegetable ravioli with butternut squash and he didn’t like at all. Sorry 😐
Great classic Italian restaurant. I judge Italian places by their Chicken Parm and Eric's was pretty good. Loved the Corn chowder with shrimp soup. Nice personal touches by the staff to greet you at the door and to give a warm good night on way out, plus the chef coming by our table.
Cozy, beautiful ambience with delicious Italian cuisine -- Grandma's meatballs and sausages are terrific, and the boneless chicken scarpariello was amazing. The tilapia and shrimp Francese was also excellent. Very generous portions for Restaurant Week. Desserts were scrumptious!
We have been here several times and Eric's has NEVER disappointed. Excellent traditional dishes and exciting daily specials keeps bringing us back. The Octopus appetizer and their Grandma Meatballs are a must order items. The decor is classy yet modern casual. The wine list is larger than the usual Garden City selections at other places. Friendly "family" staff is always welcoming. Highly recommended restaurant!
We have been here several times and we continue to be impressed each time. The food was excellent. I had the special fish which was filet of sole piccata which melted in my mouth. It was accompanied by capellini cakes that had a slight pesto sauce.. My husband had his usual roasted vegetable(butternut squash) ravioli which he always loves . The others in our party had shrimp scampi and coho salmon and also felt their dishes were delicious. The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Although it was fairly crowded the tables are spaced sufficiently apart so that it is easy to enjoy your own conversations. Will definitely continue to come here.
Entered the restaurant and immediately noticed outdated decor. Musty smell throughout. Received menus immediately. Waited 10 minutes for waiter to follow up and take orders. Took an additional 10 minutes to receive bread. Immediately removed "Specials" menu after informing the server we had a Groupon. Too many Groupon restrictions. Didn't get Opentable points either. Owner is apparently fearful he'll make a dollar or two less on this visit. We will NEVER return despite a pretty tasty meal.
Second time and last time we eat there. Thought we would give it another chance - won't happen again. Food was adequate at best - the service was below average. There was as an issue with my wife's vodka and tonic.
The drink came back yellow - and tasted horrible - we mentioned this to to server and he said that tonic is always yellow with a little bit of an attitude. He then came back with another drink and had the tonic in a separate container which was yellow - later on he mentioned that we weren't the first customers to complain about the color of the tonic. Maybe yellow tonic is acceptable somewhere but it looked ,ore like tonic that went bad.
This was my first-time visit Eric's Italian Bistro and actually it was intended to be an advanced visit (accompanied with two friends) to assess and evaluate the restaurant's service, food, ambiance, cleanliness, noise level, etc. with the thought of returning for an evening meal with a larger dinner group in August. In that respect, I have given it a solid "thumbs-up" rating.
