Eric's Italian Bistro
Relax in our beautiful Wine Bar and enjoy a delectable appetizer or a full Main Course.
Although quiet for a Saturday night (a last minute choice that had a table at 7-7:15) the service was rather slow and with only a shared appetizer and 2 mains were not finished until about 8:45.
Bread basket not worthy of a good Italian restaurant; cold rolls, soft (not crusty/crunchy) Italian bread, commercial flats. A very "mini" complimentary antipasto-a couple of slices of meat and hard, cubed cheese.
Chicken marsala, something I have once a year, was disappointing. Cloying sauce, ok chicken, larger than expected chunks of mushroom. Side of pasta with the marsala sauce was average.
Wife asked for eggplant rollatine to be very light on the mozzarella; it wasn't and she scrapped off much of it.
Dessert choices were varied but we opted not to try. Saw many topped with strawberries which neither of us like. Maybe that swayed us.
Basically the quality of a neighborhood restaurant behind a pizzeria.
Excellent as always, thanks for a great meal!!! See you soon.
Excllent go-to classic Italian restautant. Great service. The food was outstanding. Flavorful without the food being drenched in sauce or olive oil. generous pour from the bar. My meal was a pasta in which I added Salmon. There was no scrimping. The other meal was the fish special with mussels - and there was no scrimping on the mussels. Tommy our waiter is a seasoned pro.
The food was delicious as was the service. Would definitely make this one of my favorite restaurants
Consistently good food at reasonable prices.
We tried Eric's for LI restaurant week. The food was delicious.
The service was slow as kitchen - no fault of waiters
Ambiance was pretty. We went for restaurant week. Appetizers were good. Service was EXTREMELY slow. My husband ordered the steak (up charge from price fixe). It was tough and over cooked. They did offer to bring it back but at that point we had already been on the restaurant an hour. I had the chicken parm and it was average. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our desserts. Very disappointed. Seemed as though they were not equipped to handle the crowd.
A really great dining experience. George the owner and chef greeted us, checked up on us at the table and walked us outside thanking us. His entire staff were wonderful. Delicious food and generous portions. I hope they had zabaione as a standard dessert. However, offered to have it with only a day notice!!! We will return very soon.
This place is so relaxing , its incredible! I felt as though I was in my own dining room at home. Our waiter was very attentive and great at making suggestions off of what we told him we like and cannot eat. Service was outstanding!
Great food but very poor acoustics. Noise level makes it very difficult to converse. Poor vegetarian options on the Holiday menu.
Really nice atmosphere and great food. Overall nice experience
Good food, nice atmosphere. Waiter was not very knowledgeable, perhaps new but pleasant anyway. We went on Christmas Eve with a set menu. I'm looking forward to returning when the full menu is being used. Give it a try.
Great meal, excellent service, enjoyed the time to meet and have dinner with friends.
A truly beautiful experience. Friendly and professional service. Classy dining room.
Wonderful Thanksgiving Day celebration with our family! Waiter Tom was terrific and the rest of the staff was warm & friendly as usual. Food was delicious.
Terrific Italian cuisine and great service in a beautiful, cozy atmosphere.
Always excellent. Great food and service.
We have eaten there many times and enjoyed service and food. Friday night we took good friends to dinner for the first time. There was a party going on in the back room so we were stuffed into bar area that was very tight. We ordered dinner and the first of two came out right away then 20 minutes had gone by our third persons meal came out leaving one missing after another 20 min we were told the 4th meal was dropped and they were sorry and started another for our guest that took another 20 min to cook and serve this turned out to be lasagna which was served in a soup bowl very disappointed in this . After all this we still smiled and not complained at all. At times there was not a waiter or bartender in our room due to the party in the next room . We watched customers complain and walk out of the restaurant plus someone from the party was angered for unknown reasons
.We ordered deserts and coffee and were told they were on the house . OK this made us feel better for not complaining for the screw ups . Then we asked for our check only to find out our deserts we not on the house as we were told they would be. Still not complaining we paid the whole bill plus a 20% tip and left shaking our heads and apologizing to our friends for the disappointing service and food . We really would have to think if we would ever go back again and it’s a shame we did like going there in the past. I guess they should close to the public if they book a party honestly they can’t do both
Everything was great! The service started out fantastic and then got pretty bad. They were very busy and everyone there was super nice and the food was incredible.
Always excellent food and service
We do enjoy our dining experience here. F good is well prepared. Service.is attentive Cozy atmosphere
always great food and service.
Excellent food, portions. Tommy, our waiter was very friendly, attentive, accommodating. Will definitely return.
Great waitstaff, good food, bread basket and bruschetta plate were exceptional. A tad overpriced, but we felt very respected and welcomed.
We are steady customers to this small local restaurant which has great service and fine food. We continually see repeat customers who are there when we come in. Dinner at the bar is our favorite meal. Everyone who eats at the bar is friendly and willing to engage in conversation, making this a great local restaurant. YOU CAN ACTUALLY HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THE PEOPLE AT THE TABLE. THE ACOUSTICS ARE GOOD ( VERY IMPORTANT TO ME!).
Our friends from out-of-town always have a great experience there and pick Eric'sfor dinner when they visit.
I usually order tilapia with shrimp or a chicken picata or francese. The tomato and mozzarella appetizer is always perfect. My vegetarian dining partner ( wife) is always catered to and the chef will make her any pasta dish she wishes without meat/fish.
The food is consistently good and I always substitute the vegetable( picky eater) with no hassle.
Excellent food and service. We love Eric’s.
Consistent family-run place with great food at reasonable prices. Friendly and accommodating service.
Beautiful and clean curve appeal with flowers, trees and high tops. The food was simply delicious. However, the service was the highlight of the evening. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We will be back very soon. Recommended are the meatballs and their porterhouse special... perfect!!! at much less than the typical Long Island steakhouse restaurants. Excellent prepared martinis! We have been here before and it was a nice experience, but let me tell you, this place gets better every time. Highly recommended.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BAKED CLAMS AND VEAL MARSALA. THE WIFE LOVED HER LASAGNA AS WELL. LOVELY DECOR. WILL RETURN.
FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. SERVICE WAS TRULY WONDERFUL, KNOWLEDGEABLE WITH A GREAT PERSONALITY. THEIR MARINARA SAUCE IS SPOT ON AND THEIR CHICKEN SCARPARIELLO WAS THE BEST ON LONG ISLAND. BTW...VERY CLEAN AND BEUTIFUL BATHROOMS...THAT SAYS MUCH ABOUT THEIR OVERALL OPERATION
WE WILL BE BACK VERY SOON.
The best feature is it's ambiance. It has good spacing between tables and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. It was not a busy Saturday evening so the room was surprisingly quiet. There was no loud music to interfere with group conversation. Closeby on- street parking was ample.
On the other hand, service was slow. Apparently there was a shortage of wait staff. We had to have other staff track down our waiter 3 times: to take our order, deliver our entree and to get the check. People enjoyed their pasta and their chicken entrees and the first course salads. However, the crusted salmon was very disappointing for 2 of us. It was dry and it didn't come with any vegetable. Instead it was a lettuce salad, similar to what we had before the entree. There were very few little potatoes tossed in the lettuce.
The food is moderately priced but the mixed drinks were more expensive than usual.
Prices were not clearly communicated. Two of the four guests ordered the gnocchi with vodka sauce instead of bolognese sauce and peas. They charged the same price for the bolognese ($21.95) and then added an additional $3 to each for the vodka sauce. After another guest finished his sofa, the waiter asked if he wanted more, which sounded like it was free refills, but he was charged for a second drink. Next to the children’s menu it said soda free refills but I guess that was only for kids.
The food itself was fair. Gnocchi was very mushy and chicken and veal parm were chewy.
The service itself was good.
Took my mother here for mothers day. The ambience was very nice. They played a myriad of Italian music, billy joel, and some classics. The restaurant is quant and cozy with big portions. Will recommend to friends.
Food was well prepared and well seasoned. We enjoyed the caesar salads and the ice cream dessert. Everone enjoyed their entree. The veal saltimbocca was very tender and tasty.
Our only complaint was the service was slow and seemed chaotic. We had to wait a long time for the check. The check, at first, was not our check. They finally brought the correct check and added our discount.
All in all , we would try the restaurant again. Hopefully, the service will be much better the next time.
We had reservations for 7:15 p.m. but we arrived at 7:02 p.m.
The restaurant was empty.
We were given the Restaurant Week Menus and then were told to give them back because it was past 7 p.m. I really think that was rude; it was their mistake that they gave them to us.
We were also "up charged for angel hair pasta instead of spaghetti when ordering meatballs and spaghetti; who does this?
We had to send back salmon that was a dry as cotton after asking for it to be cooked so that it was moist. The service was slow despite the fact that the restaurant was dead.
Never go there again.
Place was an unexpected gem. Visited restaurant during LI Restaurant Week. Portions were of regular menu sizes. Food and service was exceptional. If I'm back in the Mineola area, I'll be stopping by again
Eric’s is known for their Lasagna, it was rated in the top ten of Newsday’s 10 Best lasagna and it lived up to expectations!!! My wife had Eric’s pork chop with broccoli rabe, cherry peppers, mushrooms and potatoes, it was cooked to perfection! The pork chop was not dry and all the toppings were flavorful.
We went there for restaurant week and you couldn’t beat the price, we will definitely be returning for another go around! Try Eric’s Bistro you’ll enjoy it!
Wonderful dining experience in a beautiful, cozy setting. Boneless chicken scarpariello is especially good, along with the meatball and sausage appetizer. Desserts are phenomenal!
