The vegan brunch at Equinox is such a treat! Each dish is unique and so flavorful and the amount of food (A LOT!) is definitely worth $40 (+tax +tip). If you're a fan of creative, healthy, and fresh food - whether you're vegan or not - this is the place for you! I can never get enough of the granola crusted french toast.
Very mediocre food. Was expecting a vegan brunch but it was pasta/ curry. Could have made the same food at home. Felt like a place that would have been fancy in the 80s.
Wonderful food and lovely service - seated near a rowdy table but elsewhere noise levels seemed better
We wanted a spot for a celebratory Saturday night dinner and found the perfect place in Equinox. The menu is short but sufficiently varied and our appetizers, entrees, and dessert were nicely varied and very well prepared. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely keep this on our list for return visits.
While it is perfectly fine for restaurants with tasting menus to have rules on substitutions, they are typically stated upfront but at equinox there were no such markings online or at the table. A member at the table asked about substitutions and was told no. Another member at the table of 4 was not going to do the tasting menu and only wanted an appetizer and entree. The server gave them flack and said they require everyone at the table to get the tasting menu (again a rule stated nowhere) but eventually allowed it. They do not clean the table between courses which does happen at most fine dining restaurants I’ve been to but I guess that goes back to this struggle of trying to figure out if this restaurant is fine dining or not. At the end of the meal the server hands us the check and let’s us know they charge automatically charge a 20% gratuity - wow! Another rule not stated anywhere and whether I was going to tip more or less it’s very out of the blue. Personally, I typically do not tip on a bottle of wine because they are marked up enough and suddenly the $100 bottle becomes $120. That would have changed my decision to even get a bottle. As far as the food the cauliflower soup and shrimp and grits were very flavorful, the duck was fine, and the desserts were very disappointing.
The food and the service was fabulous! We got the plant-based tasting menu with the wine pairing, and it was amazing. We were seated outside, which was great (our choice), but unfortunately were right up against an open window where a large group was gathered and although they were not unnecessarily rowdy, the noise level made it a bit hard to talk and hear the server as he explained each wine pairing. But I do not hesitate to recommend the restaurant regardless, as it just works out that way sometimes and the food more than made up for the noise - it was amazing.
Our server George and his team were all great! They checked on us multiple times to make sure things were to our liking and preference. The food was presented brilliantly and prepared to everyone's delight.
This was my third time visiting Equinox and I highly recommend it for groups where vegan and non-vegan options are sought.
Awesome food, staff, and service!! Super recommended!! Left happy!!
Great service, atmosphere and delicious food!!
We were delighted with our experience! A terrific restaurant
I LOVED the plant based Brunch!! I was visiting DC for the weekend and randomly found this gem of a restaurant. The portions are much larger than you typically get with a tasting menu, I could barely finish. :-) Highly recommend!
The meal was delicious, fresh and plentiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Josh at the front desk greets and takes care of all incoming diners with the best of care. The food is very well presented and wonderfully flavorful. We loved the Shrimp and Grits, the Bolognese and the Tomato Rigatoni with Basil Pesto. The Artichoke Hearts were good but their sauce missed a little in flavor. All and all, we would go back and highly recommend!
The menu is limited to few choices. Everything we had was delicious and well plated. They have gluten free and vegan options. Service was good. The patio was very nice!
Place had an odor. Food was like cafeteria
Service was likely impacted by COVID so this review is reflective of a Sept 2021 visit for vegan brunch. Coffee doesnt come with the brunch. Some had it. We asked and would have paid to add it but no one we asked ever brought any back. Food was good. Dishes were dropped off without explanation but were explained in the menu so hang onto one if you need to know. It was a nice brunch. Dont be in a hurry and dont expect a lot from a busy staff and you'll be glad you came.
The food is always delicious at Equionx. Vegan brunch was something I missed since the pandemic. The service is setup better for a buffet style brunch. The servers struggled to keep up with the courses for each table. My group of 3 had too many lulls waiting for the next menu item after we finished a course. They were pleasant and apologetic. Will definitely return when the buffet style is restored.
Dinner with our daughter and son-in-law can be challenging because she is vegan and my husband definitely isn’t. Equinox made all of us very happy. A terrific selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes including a cauliflower curry and a tomato rigatoni, as well as seafood and duck.My cola-braised salmon with corn and pea succotash was scrumptious!
OK menu, but very expensive. They seemed to be short of wait staff so service was little slow.
Wonderful service all around. Great food and wine.
Our first time trying their Vegan brunch and it was very good. Pleasant service, but not up to fine dining standards by any means. Wine not served until 3rd course; had to ask for refill of water glasses, individual plates changed with some new courses, some not; not asked if coffee wanted with dessert.
I dined for their vegan brunch on Sunday for my birthday....the meals were amazing!
The vegan brunch was outstanding. I wish the restaurant would capitalize on their incredible artistry with vegan food as well as the need for it
Great vegetarian food and great service. The 8 course brunch might be a lot for most, so be sure to come hungry!
Brunch is great! We were on the later end and we had to wait quite a while for our sweets. It would have been nice if wait staff said the chef is working on your last course so we didn’t feel forgotten. Still this is a great brunch. This was one little hiccup. We will be back!
Food was ok, nothing innovative or interesting. Service was great.
Dine here!! We have been for years and have never been disappointed. Whether it is brunch, lunch, or dinner, the food and service are always impeccable!
Delicious food and great service. Went for Sunday brunch, and every course was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend!
The food and service was great! I would certainly go again.
Food and service were great. It would be nicer if they had more choices on the menu.
Excellent food. Well spaced tables. Loved it!
Pleasant surprise! Found this place to meet up with my vegetarian friend. I am a carnivore through and through but found this vegan meal to be surprisingly satisfying! We had the brunch tasting menu which included a delightful corn soup, refreshing melon salad and a delicious sweet potato and cauliflower curry and several other tasty treats . The diversity of flavors and fresh quality of the ingredients made for a very enjoyable experience. The wait staff was very attentive, but not intrusive. And the atmosphere was very elegant and understated. Will definitely be going back!
Everything was absolutely amazing.
Great 8 course vegan brunch. Everything was delicious and served timely.
I came in for my birthday brunch with my friend whom was a hr and a half late. While waiting I decided to indulge and everything started out well. Food was being presented at the table and I started off with water to drink. Within the hour and half wait on my friend, I finished at least 5-6 plates of food and drank over 2/3 of my water. More plates was brought to the table without the previous plates being removed. For a fine dining upscale restaurant this service provided to customers is not acceptable. Producing food without removing discarded plates causes a build up and looks untidy in a dignified establishment as such. I’m a returned guest whom have been frequenting Equinox for a few years as a vegan myself I indulge in the vegan brunch every year for my birthday and occasionally though out the year. My water glass literally went the duration of that time unfilled with less than 1/3 of water in the glass. After dining upon paying the bill I noticed a automatic gratuity of 20% added to the bill. I couldn’t fathom how the service equated a 20% gratuity when the server didn’t clear the table of the dishes not refill the water without being told to do so. I requested to speak the the manager Gustavo whom went to insist that the delay in my friend arrival, and the allowance of me being seated under my reservation while she was still delayed justified the service. I questioned how a upscale fine dining establishment could find it acceptable to require such a percentage for gratuity when the server failed to provide that level of service with is expected and sets the establishment apart from other restaurants not of that caliber. Gustavo continued to inform me that had my guest been present on time the food items would had mirror one another on the table at the same time while eating. He continued to say that due to the inadequate size of the table, had she been present the plates would’ve cluttered the table.
All the starters and mains were fabulous!! Ambience is also very nice, suitable for a date night. Dessert was a but underwhelming but apart from that everything was great
The meal was outstanding: warm hearts of palm cake over cold soba, pork tenderloin, cherry clafouti (really a tiny tartlette). The only problem was the interminable wait between courses - at least 20 minutes. There didn't seem to be a shortage of wait staff, who continuously asked whether everything was ok while we were eating, but who weren't there to bring out the next course within a reasonable amount of time.
At $19 a glass, the house white wine was ridiculously overpriced.
Wonderful service. Food was okay -- Vegan and plant based options which was exciting.
The food was delicious and the menu offered great variety. It was a great value for Restaurant Week, too.
Amazing food and service! Such a great experience celebrating my friend’s birthday.
