Todd does a wonderful job preparing food with a celebration of vegetables. Deliciously prepared vegetables along with excellent lamb and swordfish. Dont miss the grilled octopus was out of this world fresh!
We indulged for my birthday (truffles!). The food was AMAZING. Perfect ambiance. Understated and elegant. We will definitely be back for small plates and to try the tasting menus. I am also looking forward to trying the vegan Sunday brunch.
A great experience as always! I really look forward to Sunday’s vegan brunch. Every time I have come, I’ve brought a non- vegan and they all loved it. I appreciate the chef’s creativity. I’ve never had anything bad here.
Always an outstanding dining experience and Equinox remains my favorite spot in the entire area. We only have participated in the vegan brunches, but have found it to be the best value in all of D.C.- you will never leave hungry! We were presented with a new creation-a plum soda- that was very original, and the soup and breads and dessert selections are always worth the trip, and I drive TWO HOURS to be part of it all. Sometimes I'm concerned that if word gets out to too many people, the establishment will become so busy that we will never be able to reserve our places and be part of it again, but Todd and Ellen work hard to make sure Equinox remains the top establishment in the area, and thus they surely deserve whatever success comes their way.
Eggplant chips were to die for. Best vegan meal out I’ve ever had.
Very good options for my companion who is a vegetarian. I was thrilled to see Jewish artichokes on the menu and they were as good as I remember from Rome. The main courses were also excellent and reasonably sized. We decided to split a dessert, salted caramel chocolate tart with peanut butter ice cream, a delicious mix of flavors. And best of all, the restaurant is quiet.
Being from the Midwest, a trip to Washington, DC usually includes a dinner at Equinox. It is always a special treat.
Had not been back in six months and tried something different than my usual choice of the pulled chicken salad. Salmon was phenomenal and healthy! Lots of grilled vegetables. Always fun. Service and staff are great! Can't wait to come back.
Super fun to enjoy a fancy vegan meal with my husband ❤️
Tried the tasting menu and every course was a winner
Thoughtful wine pairings added to the experience
Service was a bit rushed at first but settled down to a more relaxed pace after first course
Equinox has been my go-to near the White House restaurant for years. When there isn't a special I crave, I usually go for the pulled chicken salad, but this time I went for the rock shrimp with soba noodles. I'm sorry I did. The shrimp were fried (!!!), small and kind of tasteless. The soba noodles were drenched in sauce. Overall, it was very disappointing.
I loved the hibiscus lemonade, but $6 for lemonade? Really? I landed up paying $35 for a lunch I didn't enjoy very much at all.
The service at Equinox is almost always excellent, and the ambiance and relative quiet is welcome. But the food didn't live up to the restaurant's standards this time. I'm sure I'll be back, but I'll probably stick with the chicken salad.
This is a nice restaurant. Good vegetarian options.
A little expensive for what you get. The service was impeccable though.
Fabulous Brunch! This is a very special restaurant where all food choices can be accommodated. The Vegan Sunday brunch is unique because this restaurant serves meat the rest of the time. I have never had vegan food this good in a Vegan restaurant. The dishes change but everything we had was first rate. The spreads for the Artesian read were exceptional and words can’t do justice to the deserts.
Equinox was a wonderful place to take a couple close friends to celebrate their recently nuptials. The food was phenomenal and the service was great. Excited to come back next time I am in D.C.
This was one of the worst restaurants I ever went to that Open Table recommended. The food and service were awful and it was a buffet, so the waiter and busboy had hardly anything to do. The restaurant was empty and I literally had to get out of my chair to get my ice tea refilled and then to find someone to bring me the check. After I asked for the check, I still waited 10 minutes before I could get leave. Avoid this restaurant!
Fabulous vegan brunch, I was so impressed! I can't wait to come back!
What a wonderful place to break some (vegan) bread and spend time with friends. Quiet and elegant. Sunny enclosed dining area with good street views. Wonderful vegan brunch menu and a perfect place for pre-theater matinee. Centrally located and metro friendly.
Everything was excellent. Great food always.
First time for us and we were very pleasantly surprised how great it was. Both the Plant Based on other foods were excellent.
Service was really good. Food was OK. Too expensive for what you get.
As it has always been, dinner which was celebrating the marriage of two friends was perfect. As always there was a willingness to modify particular dishes to accommodate specialneeds.
Took a friend there for her birthday - the waiter was wonderful - when we gave him an idea of what we liked he made two sterling recommendations which were every bit as good as he had stated. Will be back for another special occasion.
I try to go there every couple months for brunch on Sunday with some of my girlfriends. I took my aunt this time (her first time) and she said she loved every minute of it.
Awesome menu, great and polite service, wonderful venue.
Hits all the high notes. Artichokes are top notch! Don’t recommend the pita appetizer. Entrees were generous. Creative preparation. Lovely presentation. Excellent wine list. Excellent service. A must go.
Equinox is an excellent choice in Washington's fine dining scene. I've had the privilege of dining here for business and pleasure, and have yet to be disappointed. One evening where we hosted some guests from our corporate headquarters, were pleasantly surprised to find the Equinox staff outside on the patio, manning massive grills filled with oysters and homemade sausages. This summertime tweet was ravenously devoured by our out-of-town guests and exemplifies the creative, seasonal menu you will encounter here. I must also say that Equinox likely has some of the best vegan dishes in town.
Noise level due to air conditioning unit was crazy loud. The group of us found that we would hold off trying to talk until the breaks between the a/c booming on and off. We were seated in a corner of the front enclosed porch area, directly next to the busing station. We were seated for a full 20 minutes before our order was taken.
The food was average. The entrees and appetizers are quite small which is completely understandable if the dishes are outstandingly prepared. The consensus of the table (and all six of us are foodies and don't mind the expense of an excellent meal) agreed that the presentation far exceeded the quality of the food. Finally, the desert(s) was/were horrible. Do not get the "rum cake". Two of us ordered it and it was like eating a stale piece of bread floating in cheap rum. The waiter brought one of our guests a dessert that they did not order, so we all ended up trying each option on the menu. The only mild stand out was the dark chocolate cheesecake. All in all, we expected much more from this location and chef, especially at $35 plus an entrée.
This restaurant was great. We went for restaurant week and the menu was superb. There were lots of plant-based menu items. We even had porcini mushrooms cooked so well they tasted like pasta.
It was a very quiet and romantic. The servers were there at just the right time and never let the water (or wine) get too low.
Would recommend again.
As always, Eqinox never disappoints. With a variety of excellent food, atmosphere and service, it’s one of DC’s best.
Steve and Monica
They served pork loin in raw.
It was really shock to see at the restaurant to serve uncooked pork. Chef and all staff need to get food education again.
Delicious ! We went for restaurant week but I would definitely come back again. Half of the menu was plant based , which was great being that I am a vegetarian . My friends who ate meat also loved the menu. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The restaurant itself was on the smaller side and quiet.
Service was excellent. The food choices and wine pairing was great. Highly recommend.
Menu was intriguing and food sublime. A new favorite of mine.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at equinox, and had a fabulous time. My wife ordered from the vegan menu, I ordered from the market menu, and every dish was superb. Can’t recommend it enough.
This is a terrific restaurant. It was full when we arrived at 6:30 during restaurant week, but the service and food were perfect. We will certainly return.
Food was delicious. Great service. I sat next to a family with young children who were a little loud and busy. Next time I should have been asked if my husband and I minded being near that table. Loved the customer service overall.
Altogether satisfying! The perfect place for our anniversary.
Overall, the dining experience at Equinox was satisfactory. The food and service were good and we enjoyed not having to talk over people. However, their wine list was pretty disappointing. They have 6 reds to choose from for wines by the glass and not many more by the bottle. Also, when the AC was on, it was pretty distracting. You could hear the air coming out of the vents and it was BRUTALLY cold. I could see other guests fidgeting and commenting about the AC.
Besides the wine list and AC vent being loud and way too cold, the experience was a memorable one.
Three of us are on the Ketogenic diet. Equinox had lots of good food options for everyone! Absolutely delicious!
