Equinox - DC
We had dinner there twice and our waiter Jeffery was fabulous. The chef came out both nights to check and thank us for coming in. Highly recommended
Equinox is an upbeat but low key way to have an excellent, fresh meal in DC. Having been there early in its history, we rediscovered it recently and have been back several times. Service is attentive but not overbearing, food is always thoughtful, tasty, and properly cooked,
As always, the food is interesting and tasty, the service is excellent, the chairs at the tables are comfortable...what more can you ask?
I enjoyed the ambiance food and service, except that it was a bit more oil than desired. But it was a delicious brunch with a variety of foods.
Delicious and elegant atmosphere as usual!
Another wonderful dinner at Equinox. Fresh, creative, inspiring American cuisine. Chef Todd Gray and his team are outstanding. Downtown scene is elegant yet relaxed. Perfect for our large group (6) or for a romantic dinner. This is one of the best restaurants in D.C. and my personal favorite.
Travelling by myself from Montreal, I sat at the bar and chatted with Roman, the bar tender, throughout my delicious meal. I also got to meet the chef and enjoyed discussing “restaurants” with him. The food was flavourful, inventive and nicely presented. Would return when next in DC.
The food was good but the service was very personal and excellent
The shareable artichoke alla Romana is not to be missed. All of the food was expertly prepared and delicious. The service, as usual, was attentive without being intrusive. Equinox continues to live up to its own high standards. Can't wait to go back.
Loved the vegan brunch spread and friendly staff. Always a fun experience at Equinox!
The staff was welcoming and helpful. The variety of items to choose from was incredible. Everything was flavorful and fresh. I will be returning.
Absolutely delicious with a delightful assortment and presentation. Love the servers. Love seeing the chef and owner.
The food sits lightly on the palate, with some nice surprises mixed in, especially with the vegan dishes. Lovely wine selection, with some bottles that I rarely find in DC (such as Sicilian whites). The service is attentive and warm, but discreet, and the noise level low, encouraging long conversations. We are repeat customers, and plan to return.
I wasn’t happy about the food. The mushroom bolognese was bland. The bread was really really stale and the eggplant chips were overly oily! I liked the baba ganoush dip and the tempura dish. The Mac and cheese was good. Finally, the chocolate cake was literally just a microwaved cupcake upside down. I’m very disappointed!
Big thanks Gustavo and the whole team at Equinox for accommodating our group that grew from 4 to 12 with only a few hours notice! The private dining room was the perfect fit and setting for our group. Everyone raved about the delicious meals and Gustavo’s service was impeccable. The truffled risotto fritters are always a hit and the tuna and salad lunches were excellent. Looking forward to returning again and again. All the best to Todd and Team Equinox!
Not worth the money. This used to be great, and then got tired. I heard that it was totally revamped after its remodel and tried it again. I thought it was better than it was at its worse, but still had never regained it's lustre.
Came back again this week (probably three years later) for lunch, and was really disappointed. The meal was solid, but the desserts were a waste of calories (both were dry and dull). The service was embarrassingly amateur. The setting in uncomfortable. Regardless of where you sit, you can feel cold air every time the front door opens. Neither of us had an app or alcohol, and lunch still was $120 for two. Not completely unreasonable for a good restaurant in DC, but definitely unreasonable for this experience.
We had such a nice time. Delicious plant based brunch, fun servers and a laid back vibe. Will definitely return!
Incredibly loud experience. The chef did bring out an extra dish to apologize for the noise which was appreciated but was very disappointed in the seating and noise levels.
Excellent food and service. We celebrated a birthday here and they even prepared a cake for us
Excellent food and nice ambiance Very food service
My first visit to Equinox was for a special date night. What a great place! Chef Todd came out to greet us, help us make suggestions, and check to see if all was as we expected. It surpassed our expectations. The servers worked together as if choreographed; the dining room was serene despite the happy active crowd.
From the first greeting by the lovely hostess, to the final special sweet treat at the completion of our meal, our experience was fantastic. The eggplant chips are what I'll order at the bar next time I come in just for a cocktail. Thanks, Todd and Equinox for a very special date indeed!
Excellent food and great aervice
Always reliable quality at Equinox
The best experience in fine dining that I have had in a long time. The food was such a conversational piece, it was hard to talk about anything else. Service was magnificent, and ambience was delightful. This is definitely a favorite !
I go to Equinox specifically for their plant based options. They are always different and delicious. The food is well priced and the service is impeccable. They also offer non plant based options that look wonderful, but I have not had them. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Love this place! Food was delicious and staff is always so sweet.
This place had a very weird vibe. The best things that I had was a soup and a pad thai, but everything else was truly lackluster. Hard to believe that tea/coffee isn't included in the $35 price! Happy there's a fully vegan brunch option, but it's not worth the cost.
I've done the brunch a few times now because I loved it so much the first time... I think it's just too much for what you actually get though. If it was 25 it would be worth it, but 35 with no coffee and just vegetarian dishes? All of which are inexpensive to make? Eh.
Hair in my food, they charge coffee. No one knows Sign Language.
We were so looking forward to eating here, but very disappointed in the food. Two of us shared three appetizers and two entrees and we both felt like each dish was average at best. Our server was excellent and all the staff we encountered were attentive and kind, but the food definitely fell short.
Excellent food and service- and a wonderful selection for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters all!
The decor and ambiance of Equinox are nice, and the hosts were extremely attentive as soon as we walked in. Our server was nice; however, he seemed rigid and anything describing the food or menu was rehearsed and memorized (it was repeated verbatim to my friend when she returned to the table) to a fault. I prefer patronizing restaurants that allow their staff to be themselves.
The food was really what dragged this down. For the price, I expected so much more. A small $12 cauliflower gratin might be fine, but not this one. It included several vegetables not mentioned on the menu (thankfully I like them all), and was literally unseasoned, steamed vegetables tossed in a similarly unseasoned bechamel, covered in shredded cheddar thrown into the salamander to melt the cheddar. Having to add as much salt & pepper I did is unheard for me in a restaurant, and should be unheard of generally.
My friend's dish (the $31 tempura veggies) was described as a main, but it was so small. Hers was also completely underseasoned, and worst of all soggy. Asking for different food or bringing it to the staff's attention seemed unnecessary since everything was underwhelming.
We have a vegan member of our family and it is the go to restaurant for special occasions. With something on the menu for all types of foodies the quality, excellent service and a changing menu make Equinox always a great adventure in eating.
I eat at Equinox fairly often, and I'm never disappointed. A meal there is not cheap, but the prices are reasonable for the high quality of food. Since I do not eat meat, I am particularly pleased by the wide and constantly changing choices of non-meat dishes. Both as appetizers and as main courses, there are always several choices, and the combinations of foods and flavors is always unique and interesting. And if you really want to experience a vegetarian feast, go to their Sunday vegan brunch buffet, where you can choose from a dozen or more delicious offerings.
This is the first time that we tried out a brunch menu and it is excellent. There were plenty of options to choose from. The dessert tables was fully of delicious choices. And best of all, they're all VEGAN. We'll definitely be back with our friends and families.
This is the second time we've gone for their vegan Sunday Brunch. The food is SO GOOD. It's actually vegan food that's just amazing, instead of vegan food that tries to be other food - meat eaters won't be disappointed. The brunch is an all you can eat buffet, and they change up their offerings on different Sundays so it's not the same if you go repeatedly.
Great restaurant. Gorgeous decor. Great food for diners of all types (from vegan to meat lovers). Service is attentive and detail oriented. The prices are a bit high (especially for the drinks) but I will keep this place in mind for special occasions.
It’s a fine experience but it’s very expensive for an ok feeling. For that cost we should have been wow-d by every dish. Each dish was better than average dining but just ok. Cocktail was impressive.
Love that they had so many vegan options and were able to accommodate us bringing a baby. Food was pretty good but not worth the incredibly high price
Good food. Poor service. Crummy ambiance. Way better options in DC - this place is a poor value.
