We were seated in an area that was a little loud and crowded and bright; however, the outstanding vegan menu more than made up for it!
Good and friendly service by Maria and Didier. They have a choice of vegan as well as non plant-based dishes, which is a nice combination, especially when going out with people who have different ways of eating. Artichokes alla romana were tasty (fried), the cauliflower tempura was good but a bad choice in our case since it is also fried. The fusilli with mushroom bolognese was also tasty but the presentation was not appealing. Thus, with so many choices of restaurants in DC, I would not go back or recommend this place.
The scallops offered on special at lunch today were perfect -- generous in size and quantity, cooked just right and subtly spiced. I would return just for the scallops.
Fine dining in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Great options for vegans and vegetarians. Highly recommend the spiced eggplant chips!
Very creative menu. Service is very friendly and fast. Great atmosphere for both lunch and dinner. Location is great for business lunch.
It’s a great meal. If you’re looking for a great vegan brunch or proof for the carnivores in your life that vegan food tastes just as good even better than meat dishes, go to equinox for its brunch. The service is great. There are a lot of options.
The service is quite wonderful and everything I expected. Their plant based offerings were delicious and my companion enjoyed the Chardonnay and octopus dish. I’d highly recommend for a fine dining and fun experiences to vegans and non-vegans.
Over the years, we have eaten at Equinox on special occasions. When we have guests visiting from out of town we always make a visit to the Equinox our first choice for dining. The total experience has always been excellent from the service to the quality and choice of meals. The Equinox deserves my unconditional recommendation for the best fine dining in DC.
Overall disappointing. Soup arrived cold. Swordfish had no taste. Dessert was a big flop. On the good side, service was on point and wine list terrific.
Excellent food that both vegans and non-vegans will enjoy! The buffet style brunch is great because you can try a little bit of everything. Our server Roman made us delicious cocktails and recommended very good additional bites to add to our meal. We really enjoyed the service and felt very taken care of.
Thank you for offer the amazing plant-based menu. And it's such a special treat that Todd Gray spends time with the guests!
This is where we take visitors and guests for an always superb dinner. The menu is complete with fine vegan food (my wife and I and others) and non-vegan food. So everyone can have an equally great experience.
Both tasting menus are excellent and the wine pairings were perfect! Great service. We had a wonderful evening.
We are vegans and absolutely loved that we could enjoy a fancy, delicious meal in DC! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were very pleased to find out that they even had vegan desserts. We will definitely be coming back here to check out the vegan brunch on Sundays!
Great steak! Great service. Perfect for lunch meetings.
This was our second time at Equinox. Both times have been for an anniversary and both times we left so blissfully happy. They treated us beautifully and served us the most amazing meal each time. Ellen and Todd are so welcoming we feel like we’re at home there. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was fabulous !!! I can't wait to go back.
Birthday celebration, the coconut/ squash soap was excellent, knowledgeable wait staff! Thanks
Great food, good service and excellent location and ambience. I love Equinox! So consistent and excellent every time!
We were in DC for the weekend and I heard about their Sunday vegan brunch buffet. Since “vegan brunch buffet” is a perfect combination, I had to try it.
It was seriously good. The soup was delicious. The Just Egg scramble was surprisingly good (sometimes things like that sitting in a buffet can get watery). The fusilli was probably my least favorite. The shakshuka was a must try. The breads were all really good. Oh, and the buffet includes a sweets table, also all vegan. Brownies, cannoli, and the scones were my favorites.
If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth trying.
I don’t know what their vegan food is like on the regular menu but if it’s anything like the buffet you should try that too.
Took our vegan daughter here to celebrate her birthday.
The food was solid but the service was a bit odd. The staff was not particularly attentive -- more focused on the table next to us which seemed like an "all hands on deck" type of client. The obviousness of it was quite off-putting. After a good ten minutes we had to ask for the check (clean plates, no sipping of wine or cocktails and after declining dessert). It took another ten for the check to be processed and brought back to us.
Fantastic vegan buffet brunch. Everything was superb from the salads thru the entrees to desert. We especially liked the stuffed french Toast.
Really great vegan offerings in a very clean and nicely run establishment. My only concern was seeing a few patrons not using the utensils and reaching into the buffet dessert dishes with their hands to pick up items.
Met the chef / outstanding food / really a perfect night!
Our group of 6 wanted to treat ourselves to a nice meal this past weekend in DC and chose the Equinox based on the reviews. We rarely spend this kind of money on a meal so our expectations were high. We enjoyed the service, ambience and the ability to actually converse during dinner. Very nice decor, quiet and lovely. Our appetizers were excellent but there was some confusion and disappointment with some of our meals. It was not clear to 2 of the diners that the entree they chose (Bolognese) was in fact meatless, it was their understanding that meatless was an option so they were not entirely happy with the meal. Credit goes to the bartender for most of the drinks, I had an Old Fashioned that was perfect and another diner enjoyed the Geisha cocktail but the Sidecar could not be finished as it was so sour. All in all a nice meal but for the price you pay it was a bit of a disappointment.
The way the food was described in the menu didn’t measure up to reality - it didn’t meet our expectations or price paid. Everyone was friendly and service-forward, remembering a nut allergy and birthdays in our party. There are so many interesting, inventive restaurants in the city now, it is unfortunate to not see Equinox keeping up.
Best restaurant in DC. Wonderful plant based menu. Impeccable service. And you can have a conversation — not noisy. Beautiful dining room
Food very average, wine prices outrageous.
great restaurant with quality food dishes, Lots of choices for vegetarian and pescatarian diners.
Delicious brunch. Equinox continues to serve up delicious food and quality service.
The atmosphere was great. The food was extremely well presented and excellently prepared. The waiter was also courteous, attentive and very knowledgeable.
Perfect! Greeted and seated immediately which was followed up with some classy acknowledgement of our anniversary. Service was spot on as well as the food. Great ambiance and we could easily converse without raising our voice. Loved the plant-based options. Special treat!
Chef Gray is a maestro of cookery and a gracious host. His staff and service are the best. Top restaurant in DC!
I have previously reviewed Equinox as outstanding in every way. I took a guest this time who'd never been to Equinox before and she (a woman attorney) was also enthusiastically positive about the food and our ability to actually have a conversation and hear one another even though the room was filled with others having lunch meetings. Equinox is consistently outstanding.
The food and service are excellent. I appreciate the ability to converse with the people I'm with without "must speak with raised voice." The dinner menu for some reason seems to offer more vegetarian choices. Todd Gray is known for his preparation of vegetables and I'd like to see more of them at lunch.
Plant based food was delicious and they had nice touches throughout the dinner.
I really like Equinox and have been there several times. But this time the food quality is not as good as before- I was a little disappointed by the quality control there since the same dish taste so different ...
Equinox is one of our DC favorites. We always try to go there when we are in DC.
Best meal out in a long time
