Equinox - DC
Highly recommended. Everything we ordered was well executed and tasty
Food was well prepared -- except for the vegetable tempura which was greasy and bland. Too much butter in all the dishes we were served -- the buttery taste overwhelmed the vegetables. Coffee was lukewarm and weak -- when we complained the maitre d' was defensive, telling us it was a wonderful premium brand. Maybe it is, but it was poorly prepared. Dishes were slow coming out of the kitchen. The waiter was excellent, helpful, and accommodating.
The vegan brunch is consistently delicious! Always a memorable season soup, salad, and other local veggies. Staff was very nice and attentive. Drinks were incredible! Some of the best mixologists in town. Thank you for your great service each time.
This was one of the best vegan meals I’ve had in a long time. It was my birthday and what a treat! But I won’t be waiting another year to come back. Every culinary detail was carefully curated and I really appreciated the thought and attention that went into each dish. What a delight. The staff and chef were also incredibly friendly and it’s wonderful to see people take such pride in their work. Thank you!
The best dinning experience I could have on earth
A delicious, extensive, and varied buffet ranging from stuffed French toast and homemade granola to squash shakshuka and just egg scramble, plus an entire dessert table – all vegan, so good for you and good for the world!
The vegan brunch is a fabulous experience whether you are a plant-based eater or not. The variety of delicious meals, the top notch service and the overall value combine to make this one of the best dining experiences in DC.
The staff was great. We had a little mishap at our table, and the staff was quick and gracious getting us back to our pleasant dining experience.
Delicious vegan brunch on Sunday. Plenty of choices and good food.
Always amazing. We brought out of town family with us this time and they were extremely impressed - not only with the food, but also the very attentive and friendly service.
This was my first birthday dinner and I truly appreciate Equinox for making it special. Details are important Equinox truly delivers. Thank you to the chef for his complimentary salad and the whole Equinox team for the happy birthday treat and card! Definitely made my birthday memorable! Oh and the food was amazing lol everyone cleaned their plates!
Absolutely amazing vegan buffet. The food is phenomenal and the service was top notch. I appreciate that this establishment is concerned with the environmental and global impacts of food waste; it makes my family value the experience even more. Knowing that we can eat out at a restaurant with similar values to our own makes Equinox one of our most frequented places to dine. My emphasis on this issue is by no means intended to down play the rich, diverse favors or the freshness of the food. I am a skilled home cook, which has caused my family to be very particular with the restaurants we choose when we eat out. Equinox is always one of our top choices!
The Sunday vegan buffet brunch was excellent. There was a smorgasbord of vegan dishes. My favorites were the “egg” scramble, the butternut squash soup with coconut cream, and the breads. Even my carnivore friend enjoyed the food. I didn’t try any dessert because I was too stuffed after the main dishes. The chef came to the table to make sure we were enjoying the food and to bring out appetizers. The potsticker was delicious. The restaurant is small and intimate. I will definitely return. If you want to treat a vegan friend to a special meal, it is worth the $35.
I’ve wanted to visit Equinox since I started culinary school back in 2010, and it was everything I could imagine and more! The staff were all so kind and accommodating. There are so many plant based delicious options on their menu, and as a vegan they took very good care of me. Which normally is not the case unfortunately. We will absolutely be back when we return to DC. Thank you for such a wonderful night!
Came here from out of town, based on advice from a local. We both had the plant-based tasting menu, and it was, without doubt, one of the best meals I have ever had, NYC included. Whatever you do, do NOT miss the rigatoni truffle dish. Unbelievable. One warning - if you pair the wines too (which were delicious) they are generous pours. This was seriously one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Each of the five courses was outstanding. And a short walk from Dupont Circle to boot. Highly recommend.
Appetizers were fab, drinks excellent, but fish was a tad dry. I like the way they incorporate vegetables into the dishes. The restaurant seems to attract an older established crowd, possible because it'is rather expensive.
Enjoyed my dining experience. Curious about the acrylic art piece on the front wall of the main dining room... Can you share name of artist or where purchased?
Food was well prepared and the service was very professional and attentive. Wine list was acceptable for range but a bit constraining. Very solidly in the finer restaurant choices for DC, but not a star in the list of all possibilities for great dining
We were seated in an area that was a little loud and crowded and bright; however, the outstanding vegan menu more than made up for it!
Good and friendly service by Maria and Didier. They have a choice of vegan as well as non plant-based dishes, which is a nice combination, especially when going out with people who have different ways of eating. Artichokes alla romana were tasty (fried), the cauliflower tempura was good but a bad choice in our case since it is also fried. The fusilli with mushroom bolognese was also tasty but the presentation was not appealing. Thus, with so many choices of restaurants in DC, I would not go back or recommend this place.
The scallops offered on special at lunch today were perfect -- generous in size and quantity, cooked just right and subtly spiced. I would return just for the scallops.
Fine dining in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Great options for vegans and vegetarians. Highly recommend the spiced eggplant chips!
Very creative menu. Service is very friendly and fast. Great atmosphere for both lunch and dinner. Location is great for business lunch.
It’s a great meal. If you’re looking for a great vegan brunch or proof for the carnivores in your life that vegan food tastes just as good even better than meat dishes, go to equinox for its brunch. The service is great. There are a lot of options.
The service is quite wonderful and everything I expected. Their plant based offerings were delicious and my companion enjoyed the Chardonnay and octopus dish. I’d highly recommend for a fine dining and fun experiences to vegans and non-vegans.
Over the years, we have eaten at Equinox on special occasions. When we have guests visiting from out of town we always make a visit to the Equinox our first choice for dining. The total experience has always been excellent from the service to the quality and choice of meals. The Equinox deserves my unconditional recommendation for the best fine dining in DC.
Overall disappointing. Soup arrived cold. Swordfish had no taste. Dessert was a big flop. On the good side, service was on point and wine list terrific.
Excellent food that both vegans and non-vegans will enjoy! The buffet style brunch is great because you can try a little bit of everything. Our server Roman made us delicious cocktails and recommended very good additional bites to add to our meal. We really enjoyed the service and felt very taken care of.
Thank you for offer the amazing plant-based menu. And it's such a special treat that Todd Gray spends time with the guests!
This is where we take visitors and guests for an always superb dinner. The menu is complete with fine vegan food (my wife and I and others) and non-vegan food. So everyone can have an equally great experience.

Both tasting menus are excellent and the wine pairings were perfect! Great service. We had a wonderful evening.
We are vegans and absolutely loved that we could enjoy a fancy, delicious meal in DC! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were very pleased to find out that they even had vegan desserts. We will definitely be coming back here to check out the vegan brunch on Sundays!
Great steak! Great service. Perfect for lunch meetings.
This was our second time at Equinox. Both times have been for an anniversary and both times we left so blissfully happy. They treated us beautifully and served us the most amazing meal each time. Ellen and Todd are so welcoming we feel like we’re at home there. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was fabulous !!! I can't wait to go back.
Birthday celebration, the coconut/ squash soap was excellent, knowledgeable wait staff! Thanks
Great food, good service and excellent location and ambience. I love Equinox! So consistent and excellent every time!
We were in DC for the weekend and I heard about their Sunday vegan brunch buffet. Since “vegan brunch buffet” is a perfect combination, I had to try it.
It was seriously good. The soup was delicious. The Just Egg scramble was surprisingly good (sometimes things like that sitting in a buffet can get watery). The fusilli was probably my least favorite. The shakshuka was a must try. The breads were all really good. Oh, and the buffet includes a sweets table, also all vegan. Brownies, cannoli, and the scones were my favorites.
If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth trying.
I don’t know what their vegan food is like on the regular menu but if it’s anything like the buffet you should try that too.
Took our vegan daughter here to celebrate her birthday.
The food was solid but the service was a bit odd. The staff was not particularly attentive -- more focused on the table next to us which seemed like an "all hands on deck" type of client. The obviousness of it was quite off-putting. After a good ten minutes we had to ask for the check (clean plates, no sipping of wine or cocktails and after declining dessert). It took another ten for the check to be processed and brought back to us.
