Met a person for a business lunch. Haven't been in since Park Cafe closed. Nice menu, good choices, GREAT service, very good food. Only downside was the kimchi in the shrimp taco was way too spicy and overwhelmed the dish. Server told me to expect medium low spicy and that was absolutely not the case. Tone it down to improve the dish. Otherwise, terrific meal and service. Will be back.
I enjoyed the cuisine so much when I was at Epicurean Cafe, that I suggested it to my best friend when it was time to celebrate her birthday.
Everything was just as good as the first time I was there; we tried a cup of the Coconut Curry Cauliflower soup and would have been content with a bowl of that for dinner!
Except then I would have missed out on the grilled pork chops...delicious. We'll be back!
One of our favorite restaurants in Duluth/Johns Creek area. Beautiful, historic house & great menu. Don’t miss the fried green tomato appetizer...it’s the bomb.
Father - Daughter evening
Elegant dining in a small town.
Love the food and the staff!
It was all very good and a great date night
Excellent staff, cocktails, menu and food selection. Cannot say enough about the appearance, taste and quality of the appetizers, salad and entrée.
Quaint place. Romance level is high. Food quality and presentation are above average, especially for the price. Be aware, the Chef sticks very close to his preparation method; no matter your request. Which is not unusual. I would definitely return.
It was a wonderful Valentine’s Day date. The waiters were always attentive and offered their best service.
Food was great as always. Service was very slow. Doesn’t change my desire to go back though. A jewel in the middle of Duluth perfect for lunch or dinner. Love the location and setting.
Competent, pleasant service. Delicious main menu choices. Good alcohol -free drinks and delicious desserts.
This was our first time at this restaurant.
We Loved the food. My husband had what he called “the best Caesar Salad ever”, I had the fried green tomatoes - which I shared with my husband as there were too many (4), for me.
He had the Shrimp and grits and I had the Scallops with corn mash & brussel sprouts- 4 nice size scallops. The scallops were meant to be an appetizer but I had them as a main course.
We loved the atmosphere - very nice small room with just 2 tables other than us.
We had a really amazing server, Jamie, and she was very good. Very attentive and knowledgeable about what we might enjoy.
We’d go back here again for sure.
The only negative and it’s nothing to do with the restaurant is that there is limited parking around the area. We were in my husband’s Jeep and forgot my handicap sticker so with the arthritis, recovering still from a small stroke it was hard to walk the 1/4 mile up a little hill from the street beside the restaurant. So just be prepared to drive around a while to find a spot, if we hadn’t forgotten the sticker we could have parked right in front! But the only minor issue is the lack of parking.
Great food, outstanding service, relaxed atmosphere.
This is the second time we have had a group of 8 for lunch here. They do an excellent job of taking care of us. Highly recommend dining here. The food is great and the staff does a fabulous job.
Once again we had a great experience at Epicurean! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable and the food is simply the best! We were on our way to the Aurora Theater in Lawrenceville and our server, Todd , made sure that we had an unhurried dinner with plenty of time to get to our destination on time. Yana Lee-Fong and Chef Omar Powell have a winner on their hands. This restaurant is Duluth's little gem!
Great food and great location! Service wasn't bad but they definitely could use more wait staff. Overall, we will be returning!
Another great night at this restaurant. We made a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server Anna was attentive and very nice. The service was fairly quick as we were trying to catch a show at the Red Clay Theater. The food was amazing. We had the steak and fries and the Chipotle glazed chicken. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted phenomenal. We will definitely be back.
Awesome meal, great service
Todd was great as always
Great food and atmosphere. Went for Family/friends dinner before a show at the Red Clay Music Foundry. Salt and Pepper Shrimp are delicious, but HOT!!! To be fair, the staff went out if their way to warn about the heat! Southern staple Shrimp and Grits were delivered with a very good, but different curry sauce. Beouf Bourguignon was as good as you’ll find. Good, not too expensive wine list and attentive, friendly service. Heartily recommend...
Overall good. Margarita was too sour had to send it back for sweeting and coffee was not very good but the meal was delicious. Service was great as well
Food was fantastic! We had reservations at 8:30PM on a Saturday and the restaurant was becoming empty, so if you like a quiet atmosphere, this place is great!
I love this restaurant being right in downtown Duluth in a historic home. I love how the restaurant uses the separate rooms in the home for the dining areas and the porch when weather permits. The food is always delicious.
We had driven by the cafe several times but had not had an opportunity to stop in. The food was delicious. Three of us at the table had beach route special and it was outstanding. Nice wine list reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
We had our holiday team lunch at Epicurean Cafe. The setting is an old, Victorian-type house that is very beautiful. There are private rooms tucked throughout the place. The service was good, although a bit slow for a work-day lunch. The food has a Mediterranean theme, with hummus, coconut-curry sauce, kale, etc. The portions were huge. Overall, we had a great time.
Epicurean was outstanding! I don’t know how it could have been better. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food outstanding and the service couldn’t have been better. It was so great that I changed my Christmas Eve reservations to go here instead!
Fantastic food !! Great service from Tod ! Always great to visit this restaurant, owners are great people. And always have a great welcome ! That makes you feel home. ! Congrats !!
The resturant did an great job for our group. The food was excellent, the staff was outstanding, we were treated wonderfully. Would definitely recommend Epicurean Cafe for a group get together or just a lunch/dinner for two.
Excellent food. Staff was very courteous. Only complaint was service was slightly slow but overall a very pleasant experience. Would definitely return again. Great spot for a special date night meal before an event at Infinite Energy Arena.
Though the kitchen took awhile to deliver our food, the waiter was very experienced and kept us updated. The atmosphere was cozy enough to have a great conversation while we waited, almost like European dining, so we didn't mind the passing time. Once the food was delivered everything was excellently prepared -- halfway between fancy and foodie. If you are not in a rush, this is a great dining spot to try out in the Gwinnett area.
My favorite local place for celebrations.
I came with my family to celebrate my birthday and had a great time! The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and overall a great place for special occasions!
The enchanting restaurant in old town Duluth has the intimate decor of a simple turn of the century home. With an emphasis on freshness and flavor, the chef creates his food so that each ingredient has a purpose; nothing is left to chance.
Fresh rolls with citrus butter, served first, were a hint of the delights to come.
Watermelon Feta Salad and a Persimmon Orange Salad, both generously portioned, were delicious. The feta cheese was a salty contrast to the fresh watermelon. A work of art in itself, the persimmon salad had thin slices of persimmons, oranges, and other colorful vegetables topped with matchsticks of smoked gouda and a sweet and tangy dressing. A nice pop of cracked black pepper near the bottom of the dish was a tantalizing surprise and really enhanced the flavor of the whole dish.
The Salt and Pepper shrimp advertised on the menu as hot (spicy) were served atop sauteed onions and peppers in a spicy, sweet and tangy sauce. The jumbo shrimp were perfectly cooked and plump with a light crispy saltiness. We didn't eat the habanero peppers in the sauce, but they added a nice heat that was not too spicy for us.
The Fried Green Tomatoes are not your grandma's, they're much better. The breading had a wonderful salty crunchiness (every tomato needs salt), but it didn't end there. Among the slices of crisp fried tomatoes was creamy brie, and bits of bacon. Served with a balsamic reduction. Fabulous!
Entrees included Seared Salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed spinach and a beurre blanc sauce; also a fresh Grilled Mahi-Mahi with Shrimp Risotto. The chef's shrimp risotto was remarkable; smooth and creamy but not overcooked with plump pieces of shrimp, the flavor was amazing with subtle hint of thyme and other herbs, but no spices or herbs were visible. Very well executed, and absolutely exquisite.
This was our first visit to the Epicurean Cafe, but it won't be our last. And we'll be bringing friends.
The menu is fantastic, appears to offer something for everyone. We chose the beef brisket with sweet mashed potatoes, the tomato bisque (both off of the menu) and then the specials: persimmon salad and the grilled octopus with okra. Everything was beautifully presented, great value, and incredibly delicious. It's the first time we have been since the restaurant changed from The Park Cafe to its new Epicurean Cafe. Chef Omar Powell really has his act together in that kitchen! We'll be back.
Setting is cozy in a historic house. Food very flavorful. Execution lacking. Too long to deliver food. Not enough attention to detail.
I absolutely love this place. The food and service has always exceeded my expectations. My go to on the menu is the salmon BLT. It’s always perfect. I usually meet friends for lunch and this place always makes it a special time.
Great service and the food was outstanding. Absolutely loved their fried green tomatoes.
Eat outside on the deck if the wether allows.
Seems to be more of a trendy restaurant.. Not a lot of food for money.. Good quality ingredients, taste was "ok" but that's a very subjective comment
Myself and two friends had the market fish. I was prepared very well and very tasty. Wife had shrimp and grits was also very tasty.
Very nice dining experience the server was very attentive we sat outdoors it was a beautiful night the scenery was very pretty and the food was very very good and well presented !
