The most horrible experience I had In my life. I had culinary experience all over the world this was by far the most epic failure. I was trying to surprise my wife on our 30th anniversary, So i flew her out for one night dinner date from San Diego to San Francisco. I picked Epic Steak House for this special location. It was also our celebration for beating her cancer a year ago. So it was big celebration between us. I ordered the soft shell Crab for starter. It came out one small soft shell crab split into two with boring sauce and tried to hide the skimpiness of the serving with the wrong garnish. It cost $24.00, I didn't really mind the cost as long as it was cooked right The crab was under seasoned it was not crispy sauce should be separated. Fine, Ii was only the appetizer. We ordered the new york steak and Sea bass for the main course. The sea bass came in first it was dry looked life had been frozen and thawed out before cooking. presentation is horrible as if they are covering the fish from something. Sauce was OK though. Then my steak came in i ordered medium , steak came in medium rare on the tip when i checked it it means the middle would had been rare. I send it back. I waited 15 minutes my wife was halfway done eating, the manager brought a new steak, I ask her was it medium she hesitated to answer me and brought back the steak again, Nobody updated me what was going on I had to wait another 20 minutes about this time I had to call the manager informing her to not to bother bringing the food and i asked for our check. She started apologizing and offering something , I told her that my appetite was not there anymore. The server came to apologize too and offer us a desert but we stood up and left. I slept hungry and disappointed and apologized my wife for picking the wrong restaurant. It was an Epic failure.
Epic Steakhouse was an amazing experience. Our server Travis was a very informative guy and very attentive. Loved how he always checked on our table.
The quality of the food was great. I had the Dried Aged NY Steak and it was cooked just the way I liked it, Medium Rare. We also tried the Ribeye and the Filet Minon and both were cooked just right. Very tender and very juicy. The sides were AMAZING, for the price it was very well worth it. Overall the food went very well above my expectations.
Would definitely come here again.
Blown away by quality of food, server and of course, view. Highly recommended. Tables nicely set apart.
Great experience! Fantastic environment! Meat experience unbelievable
We sat out on the heated outdoor patio - and the experience was incredible! We ordered the "Epic" Meal for Two, and you could not go wrong with the choice! It was absolutely one of the best meals we have ever had. Great waiting staff, delicious food, and incredible views!
Great location. Great service. Outstanding food.
We arrived early and from there we received impeccable service!
Great service and the best food in the city!
My wife and I first met at Epic, it holds a special place in our hearts.
Thank you Epic!
The views of the bridge and bay are beautiful and service was very good but the prices are on the very high end for a good meal. Nothing was outstanding but portions are very large, good for sharing. Only hiccup was my filet came out well instead of medium and was remade.
Great service for my Sons Birthday
Very nice view of the bay. Food was good but very pricey.
Great service and great food , beautiful view . Love it will return for sure
The food at Epic was really very good, our waitress provided us with great service, and teh restaurant has a fantastic view of the Bay Bridge.
We had an amazing time - the customer love the place!
EPIC Steak was a great experience. The atmosphere reminded me of a scene that I related to a movie from the forties. The waiter was very attentive and his suggestions were well-received. The steaks were magnificent. I chose the ribeye and my wife enjoyed her favorite, filet mignon. Since this is a steak house , we concentrated on steak and a green vegetable. We were not disappointed since the stakes, in addition to exhibiting great taste and flavor, were filling . If you appreciate fine steaks and are planning to be in SFO, EPIC must be included in your dining stops.
Came in a earlier than our reservation time and they accommodated us and got a table ready. Every one was polite and the steaks are taste. Meet the manager David which would walk around greeting and talking to all the customers asking if everything was ok or if we needed anything. David also addressed our concern in a timely matter making sure we had an great experience.
Steak was likely the worst cooked I’ve ever had in the US as well as the worst quality. First attempts were taken back the second were little better.
Had a nice dinner. The bread was wonderful, but the accoutrements we’re lacking. We liked the plain butter and truffle butter, as well as the rosemary infused olive oil. The other two were very mild. The steak was completed to perfection, but the sauces seemed lacking. The Brussel sprouts presented as old and re-processed with too much salt and lemon juice (a significant let-down). Not sure we would return. I expected savory perfection. The steak wa notes to have herbs, which I detected to have little to no flavor outside of the steak itself. The service, however, was impeccable.
Dunes at epic on the first night of our honeymoon, fantastic view, great service and delicious food!
Great service and awesome view. Had a few hiccups with the food, all resolved. Dunno how I feel about a $26 a glass Epic house cab though.
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. He was visiting from Japan. The servers are very professional. We ordered beer, wine with dinner, two steaks and four side dishes.
But...My friend ordered a ny steak 16 oz. At least a quarter of it was inedible. There was a tendon, not moist fat, that he could not cut through. He brought it to the attention of the staff. The manager said it was not to their standard and she would show chef. She said that never should have happened. She said she was removing it from the dining room immediately. In the end she gave us a dessert. Big deal. I am not big on dessert. She could have at least comp'd the drinks given how horrified she acted.
Will I go back? I don't know. There are other places that are excellent. It was an expensive meal and their signature dish didn't cut it. Literally. All hat, no cattle I think.
Wonderful restaurant whether a special occasion or after the ball game. Great food and top notch service
We'll be back
Unreal experience! We had this as our engagement meal, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel special. We both had the fillet and it was cooked to perfection! 5* you must go.
A shambles from the start. Unable to simple cocktails even after two tries. Caesar salad consisted of four pieces of lettuce w croutons - no anchovy’s and a drizzle of dressing. Steaks arrived under cooked- medium came as rare and still rare in parts even after going back to the kitchen.bread pudding was inedible- completely dry and like eating stale dry bread.
Service is sporadic- the staff are poorly dressed for a fine dining steak restaurant. As we left not one person out of 8 that we passed including the hostess said good night or asked about the meal
Having eaten here 3 years ago the standard had fallen to a casual dining experience at fine dining prices. On a Thursday evening you could choose any dining time as the place was half empty. Such a shame as this was one of the best steaks in SF. So many better places to spend $300 on a mark
Maybe. I've had great steak there. I've also had lamb which I was salivating for but it is no longer on the menu. I had the halibut and it tasted like shoe leather. Whoever the chef was 4/3/19 s/he should be removed. We would have sent it back but we had already complained about the 'special' bread you can order but they charge $4 for --it was a ball of nearly raw chewy dough lightly browned on top-basically not cooked properly. The view is always nice though...
Had high expectations for this place. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t good at all. Sadly the best thing we had was the rolls with butter. My husband and I both ordered steaks and both lacked flavor..... the sides were just ok. We won’t be returning to Epic.
Good was outstanding! The service was even better. I left my phone there and the hostess found it was there first thing the next morning to return it to me
One of many trips to EPIC Steak whenever I am in town. This most recent time we sat outside facing the Bay Bridge. The atmosphere, food and service were stellar.
We had a great experience at Epic Steak House. Enjoyed every minute we spend. We had a great bottle of Cade Cab highly recommended!! Tomahawk steak is outstanding.
Good and server were great. Our filet was a little undercooked and we sent it back and it came back a bit over cooked. Other than that food was amazing . Service was good and scenery was amazing
I came here with a party of four and had a fantastic time. The food was great and the service was above and beyond, we were really made to feel like VIPs. Combined with the fantastic water/bridge views, Epic Steak is a strong recommendation.
Steak price was way over price for the quality. Ribeye steak may have actually had potential but is was poorly cooked. I ordered a medium steak because I was told it would be pink throughout with a warm center. The steak was done in about 15 minutes, served hot, very well done through half the steak with dark pink in center. I’m not an expert at cooking/grilling steaks but know enough that this was poorly prepared. It did have a good crust and seasoning but it should have been cooked a bit slower to create an even cook throughout the steak and should never be served hot. Steaks need to rest to let the juices sink in for more flavor. Extremely disappointed from this visit and do not recommend spending hard earned money at this restaurant. Good place to visit if you have money to waste.
Gorgeous views. My petite filet mignon was perfection. My husband asked for medium rare and got medium well. He ate it, and the waitress was, to her credit, mortified and gave us free dessert. We appreciated the service. I definitely recommend this place.
Hi very nice place great views. Food was amazing but not very warm. Felt it as rally overpriced for what we got.
Great view, great food and drinks and great service!! The ambiance was lovely and so inviting!!
I expected a better quality steak than I received. I ordered the petite filet medium rare. It was cooked medium, rather dry and had not been trimmed of fat. I was also not a fan of the wine flight, despite the recommendation from my server. The highlights were that the view was amazing and the bread was delicious.
SAvert nice evening with customers. Got a roundtable with view to Bay bridge. Food was fantastisk, Cotes de Boef, NewTork Strip. Thank yout for tour service
I was shocked by how poor my steak was given the great reviews. I think a steak from Denny's would have been superior. Way undercooked (but already charred on the outside so sending it back for more cooking would have resulted in a burnt outside). I asked for medium... the outside looked well done while the inside was rare... I guess that averages to medium but the steak wasn't even "average".
Go somewhere else for a good steak when in SF... there are many better options.
Steak was incredibly mediocre. For a steakhouse I expect much more.
