We love the food and the atmosphere. It is one of our favorite places to dine.
New owners and a larger menu. The food was outstanding. We had sizzling shrimp and Adana kebob. The beet salad is yummy.
We gave it a try again after a not great experience. The staff seem to want to do a good job, but it seems like a case of poor management. Had to ask repeatedly for the drinks we’d ordered, lamb was waaay over cooked (again), scallops also overcooked, veggie kebab was super-tiny portion. Really unfortunate because they have such a nice location and could really make it a nice place.
The Ephesus Restaurant in West Seattle has been a favorite for many years. Be sure to order the meze plate appetizer! We enjoy their food and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Sitting on their covered deck in good weather is the best. The service is usually excellent, though unobstrusive. We are looking forward to many more years of good eating at the Ephesus!
Way too overpriced. 2 couples almost $500 tab with 2 hookahs which seem to have arbitrarily moved in price from $30 to $40 in three weeks (pricing not shown on menu). Hookah service quality sub par and charging over premium for half burnt coals and flavor tainted hoses. It’s not a 5 star restaurant yet priced for perfection when it takes almost an hour to get your first drink and 2 hours to eat. Way understaffed and not very welcoming. Second time here.. probably won’t return.
We have been acting at Ephesus for years and they are very good. Neeshla was our waitress and she was fun and attentive as always. We started our meal with wine and flaming cheese served with pita. My wife had prawns with creamy spinach and house salad. I had the fish of the day quite grilled veggies and house salad. Everything was well prepared and flavorful.
We have been ordering take out frequently during the pandemic and hope they are able to remain in business as they are wonderful people and make great food.
Ephesus has been my favorite for the many years I’ve lived in West Seattle...a family favorite but since it has recently changed management, it’s not the same. The menu is very different, mostly ala cart. And some of our particular favorite dishes are no longer available. The restaurant was understaffed while we were there because of unavoidable outs of wait staff so the service and timing of food was off. It’s a unique setting for a meal so I still feel at home there but I’ll wait for the chef & staff to get their rhythm and experience going before I return.
While our waiter was extremely attentive and very good at his job the music was so loud and not conducive to the restaurant and the food was average at best. We really think that the restaurant is trying to be too many things for too many people instead of focusing on Turkish or Middle Eastern and just doing those really well.
This restaurant has delicious food. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had, and a scrumptious selection of kebabs. The veggie kebab was perfect!
Meals came out very slow, nicely presented but over seasoned. One side dish never made it to our table. Confused, undertrained staff.
Good food, nice view. Service is a bit subpar - courses came out one right after the other, while working on our appetizer, the salads were brought out. Hadn’t even taken a bite of our salads and they tried to serve the main course. They brought the main course out later when 1st courses finished but had obviously just been under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. Servers not knowledgeable about the wine list.
We used to come here very often under the previous ownership. Since moving away from the area, it has become more of a special time meeting friends in the area. We were VERY shocked when walking in and seeing new cook, new equipment, etc, etc. The menu items were fairly close to the old but prices had increased, in addition to everything being al-la-carte. So not only were the prices higher, but we needed to order the rice as a side and the salad as a side - which means the prices went up a LOT. Also the appetizer menu was missing the wonderful individual items we so treasured. Never returning again.
The waiter we had wasn’t very good. He couldn’t answer any questions that we had and was constantly trying to walk away as we were talking to him. He just had a bad attitude the entire time and you could tell he didn’t want to be at work. It was just a bad vibe. The food wasn’t good. I ordered the mixed kabobs and the lamb was awful, it tasted like it was spoiled. I’ve had lamb plenty of times and it has never tasted like that. I told our waiter and he didn’t care and just ended up saying have you never had lamb before? Let’s just say none of us ate our lamb. One of my friends ordered steak and it wasn’t cooked properly and also tasted like it had been left out. Let’s just say I won’t be going here again. The place it’s self was nice and the bartender who brought us our drinks was very great.
Seems like the staff needs to get used to people dining in again. Food was bland, our chicken kebab was raw, and server forgot about us - we had to wave her down for water. She sent someone else to fill our glasses and forgot about us again.
I’ve eaten here many times in the past and it was fair to good. Last night the food was great. The service was excellent. I will definitely be back.
Pre-COVID we've visited Ephesus many times because we love the food. We recently returned with a friend and were disappointed to hear there is a new owner and assume, the kitchen staff has also changed. While the menu was the same, the preparation was not. The homemade bread was disappointing (not as soft and more like pita), and the starter of hummus, eggplant and tomato toppings, was disappointing.
Lovely to sit outside with the heaters. Great service and food. We will be back.
Unfortunately, this meal was really disappointing. We didn't know it was now under new ownership, and it was definitely a different experience than our dining experience of a year ago. We ordered two salads and they were both drenched in dressing. I like a little extra and this was too much even for me. And the sizzling shrimp was Not sizzling in fac it was cold - not sure how that's possible. The pita type bread that they served was NOT tasty either how can bread not be good? i really don't know. We also ordered the sizzling cheese (something like that) and it was beyond salty. The octopus meal was good but again the mashed potatoes were cold and the octopus was luke warm at best. I forgot to mention we were the only people in the restaurant, which made it super awkward and given the number of cold meals and untasty items, we just chalked it up and the new norm.
Will we be going back? No, thanks.
Our visit was on Friday, January 29th at 4.30 (happy hour). We were seated on the patio, but it was completely enclosed with plastic sheeting. We were the first to arrive, and had the patio to ourselves for most of our visit. By the end, ALL the tables (not distanced) were full, as was the INTERIOR of the restaurant. A clear violation of the regulations in place at the time. Our waiter was new, which is fine, however he clearly had not been trained, and his trainer left him alone. He didn't know what dishes were, or anything about Turkish anything. The starter we ordered was three spreads. We were a party of 4, and they brought only 3 breadsticks! The main courses were tasty, if a bit cumbersome (the meat was still on the very LARGE skewers). The waiter did not seem to understand that he needed to clear used dishes, etc. as the meal progressed. Other than the baklava, I'd recommend giving the desserts a miss...they all came out looking as if they were a week old. Mine was the chocolate mousse that had to be chewed. I may try this restaurant again, but not until dining is back to normal.
Thanks for a good Birthday Dinner! Food was amazing
Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Staff was friendly and accommodating!
Meeting a good friend that is living town fir a while
Had a very tasty meal served by a very friendly server. Will definitely be returning.
Marvelous service, delicious and original food, nice and warm vibe.
had outside deck which was nice even though little cold
would go again
Wonderful! Thank you to everyone who made our experience great.
What a disappointing meal! It’s usually my go-to place and I love to visit here pretty frequently but the menu has changed and my staple favorites were not edible! No rice. Meat kebab was cold. The banana cake that the staff pushed was dry and tasteless. Would not recommend.
The food was not how we remember it from the last time we were there:(
Fantastic romantic ambiance and incredible food. I would highly recommend it.
Food was absolutely fantastic! Lighting was perfect and staff was super friendly and accommodating!
First kidless dinner date in a while and it was wonderful! The ambiance was intimate, servers were great. The food was amazing and my only disappointment was that I couldn’t finish dessert because I was too full!
Great service and tasty food. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very quiet even at peak hours good for social distancing. I love the skewers and especially presentation of the beef. The appetizers are all delicious especially the humous. One downside is a lack of kids menu. It would encourage more families to visit if they had some kid-friendly options on the menu. My daughter mostly ate the pita and would probably love a kid sized pasta or something if possible. The service was great and had a complimentary desert. Would recommend visiting or ordering take-out.
Fabulous food. Excellent service. Beautiful interior.
The food was great! Service was excellent! We had a wonderful time !
Went to try the new brunch offering and was disappointed. Food was meh! Breakfast potatoes were still frozen. Server said "I'm sorry!" but would not offer to remake them or anything to make it right. Had to ask for a coffee refill because it didn't happen once during our visit. My friend didn't even get her cup filled. The server also brought our bill while we were still eating, which I find super rude, especially as the restaurant was empty.
We could eat outside. Our server was lovely but needed a bit more training, in our opinion. The decor has gotten to be a bit more eccentric, but again, we did get good food, outside at a reasonable price.
Why not go there?
We have been going to this WS gem for 15+ years and have always looked forward to the staff, the unique setting and the amazing food. It is obvious the restaurant has changed hands and in so doing has revamped the Go-To great offerings. While the names of the dishes remain the same the execution and tastes have NOT. The kabobs are just okay the Adana is NOTHING like it used to be and while i liked the presentation of the Mixed Plate it left lots to be desired on the flavor. GONE is the great Naan now replaced with some packed from Safeway "pita" half-heartedly grilled and literally was luke warm. The previous version of the bread was fired in an oven and frankly kept us coming back. HUGE letdown...
I'm certain we are not the only patrons seeing and tasting this the same way- I would strongly urge the new owners to get the old bread going once again and find their way to the spice and preparation guidelines from the prior iteration of this wonderful WS location.
Amazing food.. previous menu was great, however they have a new menu that adds great options including several different steak options. Service was excellent as well, really glad we went there again! Will go back for sure
Delicious food, The perfect ambient. I love it. I'll come back definitely.
I left without eating any food and have never done that before. It may be good for dinner as they are new at brunch I believe but I would not recommend this restaurant. The two dishes for a table of two people came out 20 minutes apart. Toast was actually just bread and the omelet had no cheese. All of this could have been fixed but the tiramisu waffle came out completely uncooked, just mushy batter and the tiramisu on top was spoiled- clearly sour. Also the cream for the coffee had soured.
