Ephesus - Mountain View
This is our second visit. We loved being there. We are going to spread the word among friends as we are sure they would love Ephesus. Thanks.
The menu contains a few Greek items but I’ve ended up with a grilled salmon with green vegetables, nothing I’d Mentioned was available. Only one Greek wine as well.
Service was ok. The gentleman who initially took our order wasn’t as helpful with suggestions. So I ended up with the one of their specials for the day, grilled steak. It wasn’t a good piece of steak. Tasted very bland. Very disappointed.
Hummus, Saganaki, Brussels Sprouts, Souvlaki, and Manti were very good. And we ended with the Kunefe for dessert, which was excellent.
Overall, everything would have been excellent were it not for the steak.
This was my first visit to Ephesus, and we will definitely be back! We chose to have a leisurely afternoon meal at 3PM and ate outside. We had multiple courses and enjoyed the high quality food. While my wife is vegetarian and I like to ensure she has enough options, there was a lot to choose from for her.
We started with Sigara Boregi and the Brussel Sprouts. The Sigara were a great pleasure and melted in the mouth yet also had crunch. I also ordered the Lahmacun. These are generous even for two people, yet I got to eat all of it! Delicious.
My wife ordered the Iman Bayildi and thoroughly enjoyed the range of flavors and textures. The eggplant is nicely roasted so the skin is easily chewed and the onion, peppers and tomato sauce on top was a perfect contrast to the creamy texture of the eggplant. I had the Beyti (lamb). The chewiness of the dough combined with the intense flavors of the meat, sauce and yogurt was delightful. We paired all of this with an intense white wine.
The only drawback, and perhaps I ordered incorrectly, but I was expecting a strong coffee. What I got was just a normal black coffee, so next time I need to be more precise. Overall, the food was full of strong flavors that lasted in the mouth like a complex wine. I can't wait for my next meal there!
The food was average, and not worth the price. Went with friends who had been in the restaurant previous. They seemed disappointed in the food - wasn't as good as the last times they had been there. The vegetables on one plate where steamed, bland, and soggy. The humus was not very tasty.
This is not a Greek restaurant. It is primarily a Turkish restaurant that serves some Greek-like menu items. That said, the food is overall quite average for a Turkish restaurant and there are better Turkish restaurants in the area (e.g., Urfa Bistro in Los Altos). My wife and I had the two "signature dishes" moussaka and beyti lamb. Neither was particularly flavorful and cannot be recommended.
Everything about this place is commendable!
Excellent homemade Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine!
Mother's Day late lunch. Great food and great service.
Delicious and healthy food. The chicken souvlakia was perfectly cooked and juicy and we liked the steamed broccoli though the carrots were underdone. Very gracious service.
menu is okay nothing to really write about. very standar options.
I found the dishes to be inconsistent. For example, wife and I order two different dishes, my order was great but my wife’s wasn’t.
This is a great restaurant! Service was prompt, our waiter was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I ordered the Tzatziki appetizer. The bread was warm and the yogurt with cucumber dip was light and fresh. Both tasted very good. My husband ordered Beyti with chicken for his entree, and I had Bamya (okra stew.) Both were delicious. We will definitely be going back to try other dishes.
My family and I had a great time at Ephesus. My wife and I have been here many times over the last few years and absolutely love it. This time, my mom was visiting from out of town and we brought her here for dinner. My mom has never had Turkish food before, but she loved it as well. She ordered the Moussaka, which she said was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance are wonderful. Looking forward to coming back for year and years, and hopefully decades and decades.
Welcoming atmosphere. Very tasty food. A very nice place to meet and eat with friends and family.
Very good, very authentic. Properly spiced so you taste the components of the food not the spice. Even the baklava, not soaking in honey, sweet but not soggy. Will be back to try different dishes. A bit noisy but still able to hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. Go for the food and the value.
Great dinner -- relaxing environment, great menu, delicious food, lovely service. A great place on Castro in Mountain View.
Food is great, prices are reasonable and service is good. But we went when it was crowded, and even with a reservation, the four of us were squished into a table right by the kitchen. Servers kept bumping into my chair when passing, the table was too small for the four of us, and it was LOUD. So if you go, I recommend that you go when it's not busy so you can sit comfortably and be heard without having to shout.
it was a great experience. The only negative point is that 18% gratuity was added to the bill without mention, and then an additional tip was requested on the payslip when signing the credit card slip. This was not too forthright.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything was served in a timely manner without us feeling rushed. We will definitely go back again.
Although the service was excellent....the food was very bland, lacking flavor ...needed seasoning. I was disappointed as was the rest of my BIG FAT GREEK Family.
Always great, delicious food, stellar service
Pleasant location in Mountain View. Good food and reasonable price.
The service was excellent. Just about 30 seconds after each time we finished our bread, they came and asked if we wanted more. Same with our waters. But the food is lacking. The falafel plate does not taste fresh, nor are the falafel properly cooked. They were too dense and not especially crunchy. The salad was just ok.
Informal dining on a variety of standard middle-eastern dishes. Good service. Tasty but not exceptional food.
Great food and service, but disappointed that they didn't do anything special for my sister's birthday even though I specified it in the reservation. We've been coming here for many years since they opened and know some of the service people too.
I really like this place. As a Mediterranean man myself, I really appreciate the authenticity yet creativity of cuisine. The warm appetisers are all great!
Lamb chops are really good. Nice ambience, service and food. Worth it!
We enjoyed the Greek salad and calimari which we shared. I thought the moussaka was delicious. My husband enjoyed one of the lamb skewer dishes. The food came out quickly and our server was very attentive. We will definitely return.
Solid food, good vegetarian options, pretty quick service.
Never been disappointed by the food here, it is always good and they have some unusual dishes that are excellent. It can be extremely loud inside, sitting outside is far more quiet. This is one of our regular stops on Castro St. Highly recommend.
Nice business lunch. Service was unobtrusive, and the food was delicious!
Our only complaint was that the courses were not timed wll. Salad and appetizers arrive on top of each other, and the dessert arrived almost immediately after being ordered.
Overall the flavors and preparations were great, but slowing down the progression a smidge would have been nice. We felt a little rushed even though the restaurant was not busy the evening we were there.
Each time I visit this restaurant it has never disappointed me. This one is a gem.
we ordered the appetizer that comes with a little bit of each, falafel, moussaka and a lamb gyro thing? It was delicious, everything. The service was great, the waiters were always checking to see if you needed anything
The food was good. I’ve had more flavorful pieces of lamb in comparison but overall it was good. I would go back again. They had prompt and attentive service.
We needed a last minute reservation for a group of 7, and this was one of the few places on Castro Street that could take us. The menu looked interesting, so we gave it a try. The decor is modern and classic at the same time. We all really enjoyed our meals and wine. The group particularly liked the Sigara Boregi appetizer. The mixed cold appetizer plate was also very well received. The lamb and chicken Beyti were also very good. We will definitely go back.
Great food, quick service
Food and service was great. The bread was so soft and yummy.
Our group has some picky eaters and the loved the food.
Never been here before, but definitely returning!
