Enzo & Angela The Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food just did not taste good. Fish tasted frozen. Calamari was super tough.
The linguini with clams was just ok - not terrible but not special.
Honestly, they need to show more thought and care into their food preparation.
We were desperately searching for an authentic Italian restaurant in West LA. We are Europeans and value the Italien kitchen very much. Very sadly, all our previous favorite Italian restaurants in the neighbourhood disappeared over the years. Thanks to Open Table we found Enzo & Angela. What do we like? It is a combination of many things: delicious authentic Italian food, seasonal recipies, nice ambiente, time to eat your food without a hurry (we usually spend 2-3 hours on a meal - yes! That is European style, learn something here, Americans! ;-)), opportunity to chat with the owners. This restaurant offers all of it. And the food is sooooo extremely delicious! Every bite is a little firework of taste (remember the scene in Ratatoille?).
We two each traveled quite a distance to get here based on previous reviews. It was everything already said except quiet. Our table was ready and I was greeted by name when we arrived at 12:30 PM. Nice! But we had to wait for other diners to leave by about 1 PM for the place to quiet down enough for a "business lunch." It was also noted that they raised the volume of the music as the noise from the diners decreased. It's freeway close AND on the Rapid bus line linking Santa Monica to Westwood. Extremely convenient and the food was excellent. I'll be back for dinner and perhaps for a non-business lunch.
Stopped in for a bite, casual, after a day of errands. The salad was abundant but nothing creative. The bolognese dish was a bit bland. The lemon chicken tender, tasty. Overall nothing stood out. The wait staff attentive but can see their lockers from where we were sitting. All in all just ok and expected more due to the other reviews.
We really enjoyed having our Valentine's Day dinner at Enzo & Angela. Our food was fresh and flavorful and was servied piping hot. The pasta was perfectly al dente and tasted homemade. I had the linguini portofino and my boyfriend had the spaghetti bolognese -- both were delicious. We shared a salad that had spinach, corn and bacon -- although I might have preferred the corn to be grilled, not cold, the bacon was a nice touch! We shared glass of of the house pinot noir, which really whet the palette. The servers were nice and prompt and didn't pressure us to hurry and leave. Highly recommend as a nice neighborhood Italian.
Authentic, creative and welcoming, Enzo & Angela has been hiding in plain sight for several years now, but no longer! It's a place where you can have a nice conversation while enjoying authentic homemade Italian specialties, and even test your Italian language skills as a bonus.
This is a great restaurant. Do not be deterred by its location on the second floor of a small strip mall. This restaurant is every bit as good as the top Italian places on San Vicente nearby, at a much better price. The room is well staffed, assuring prompt, friendly service.
The dinner fixed price menu is one of the great bargains in town.
It would be wonderful to give this neighborhood gem a zillion stars! We love this restaurant - some of the best pasta in Los Angeles. The service is warm and friendly, the restaurant is quiet enough to chat with friends. HIGHLY recommended. (PS: try the chocolate cake)
We've never been to the restaurant and hoped that it would be a good food and a good atmosphere. We were not disappointed but very pleasantly surprised. The wait staff was very accommodating and the food was as authentic as could be. I had pappardelly pasta which was delicious, my husband had fish and my friend had ravioli, all were great. Our salads were also delicious and fresh. I can't wait to come back when I'm in town!
I am afraid we could not stay in for dinner. Menu didn't match with the one posted on internet.
Dishes were slightly different and prices around 20% up vs google website.
However, the owner was open to cook any other dish out of La carta to fix the incidence but we didn't finally stay.
The place was nice and well decorated anyway, and service attentive.
We live in the area, and had passed the restaurant many times, but never dinned there.
We are tired of noisy restaurants, where you have to yell to speak with your friends, along with small plate menus that end up costing $175.00 or more per couple. We were delighted with the quiet ambiance , excellent pasta, and entrée size portions. The price was fair for the portion served. We will return and bring out friends.
I've always loved the food at Enzo and Angela's. Tonight's visit was no exception: large portions of perfectly cooked meat and pasta, nicely seasoned and not much salt. Many restaurants use too much salt, ruining otherwise good food. My major complaint is the wine list, which is very small and uninteresting. But corkage is only $15; we will definitely bring our own wine next time.
