Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.
Friday - Saturday 11:30am-11pm
Food was excellent and so was the service
Never been here, so worth the wait! I went here for my anniversary and was pleased with our choice. Great food, fairly high variety in menu choices, I had a fancy cocktail, it was fabulous! They also have like 10 beers on tap, thats exceptional too me! The food was decadent, and worth the slightly higher cost; these guys know how to cook shellfish which can sometimes be a challenge in a fast paced kitchen.. which you can watch as a customer from your seat! The crab was outstanding! Some of the best scallops I have ever had, not overcooked.. just amazing! Cant wait to try something else, next time. The mahi mahi crusted with macadamia nuts was delicious! :p Double classy Nom
This place is just a local classic. You just can't go wrong with a meal here. Prices are reasonable especially given that it's in the Funk Zone. You can park in nearby public lots and it's a short walk away.
I have been going to the Enterprise for around 30 years. It's my Favorite Restaurant. The Fish and Seafood is always fresh, and always good. The Service has always been good as well. I don't have any complaints about the Enterprise. The only problem I have (and it's not a bad problem), is that the Costa Rican Mahi Mahi is so good that I always end up getting that, which has limited my ability to try other things on the Menu. I also Love Love Love the Lobster Bisque with Puff Pastry.
My wife and I were in SB for a concert and just happened upon Enterprise Fish Co. Food was fantastic, ambience was fun, service was just OK but they were slammed.
Waitress seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. Took a long time for her to take our order and she kept telling us she'd be right back. Food was not what I expected for the prices. It was below average bar seafood fare. We had raw oysters that were the skimpiest we'd ever had. Popcorn shrimp were ok, but for some reason came with a bowl of ketchup for dipping, rather than a real cocktail sauce. Grilled romaine salad was awful. I felt like they made it extra disgusting for me. It was soggy, over dressed, shrimp were under-cooked and had about 1/2 lb of Parmesan cheese on top. Parmesan crusted sole was flavorless and overly crusty. We didn't even end up eating it. Definitely not worth it for us. We will not be back.
We were sat timely on a Saturday night. Bussers really need to step up and clean/clear tables and tend to those dining (again, clear plates and fill water glasses). Tables near us were cluttered with dirty dishes almost the entire time. Our server was good though. Enjoyed the calamari, fish special (local bass) and macadamia crusted mahi mahi. Very good clam chowder. Dessert was alright (honey pie) - crust was a little too brown and the ratio of ice cream to pie was off (would rather more pie, less ice cream).
Enterprise has been good, sometimes ok, and lately just barely ok. Food is fine if not outstanding (the Fish House around the corner is better now, I think), the prices fine, the chowder very good. Jambalaya this time was the highlight - Sole was a bit gummy, grilled entire was barely warm, the Calamari too chewy. Not terrible, but with the competition nearby (including Brophy if you have time to wait), just ok won’t bring me back too often.
Expensive for what you get. Manager not very nice.
Delicious! Started with the baked avocado-so good! I had the swordfish with and herbed sauce, again, delicious. My husband had the Parmesan halibut, he thought it was also very good, I had a taste, and I would choose that option too. The building the restaurant is in is interesting and the location looked like it was a close walk to other bars for an after dinner drink.
This was our second time We came back when in town and the food was over cooked. Shrimp were hard. I was not happy at all. Ordered Asparagus extra charge and received 5 pcs. Also they have Happy Hour ads on table but would not serve us Happy Hour where we were sitting and made us move. We didn't like those seats in the corner so where disappointed and returned to original seats, was not able to order Happy Hour. Our waiter was not attentive, Nice but lacked. Do not remember his name Short Hispanic man. Over all I would give it a 4 this time. Coming to town mid October might look at another place for dinner this time. Really disappointed
Repeat visit and was just as good second time around! Excellent showered seafood choices just off the grill and more than generous potions! But leave room for dessert. Fairly noteworthy, and inexpensive.
Service was outstanding.
Cameriera gentilissima e premurosa. Ha saputo venirci incontro in ogni nostra necessità. Veramente impeccabile.
Always good, but change in happy hour not well received.
Will go back
Very very loud. Very expensive but low food quality. We we’re really disappointed.
The Pomegranate Crusted Sole was very good and more than enough to share. We truly enjoyed the sweet potato fries as a side along with the cole slow. The lobster bisque is very rich and good — worth tasting. I could not eat the whole cup as the bisque is rich.
I have been going to the Enterprise for more than 20 years. Always good. I especially like the grilled fish. My son and I took some friends from Texas on a business trip in Santa Barbara to the Enterprise for dinner last Sunday. They really liked the old building, the ambiance and the food. Took a short walk down to the pier. They enjoyed every minute.
We have been many times. There is definitely a quality difference between locations. The crab is a hit or a miss. I wonder if the chef actually tastes the food? Be safe -Stay with the fresh catch of the day.
We watched them grill our food on an enormous mesquite fire.
The lobster rolls were outstanding👍🏽however, the lobster bisque was bad and made me very ill!!! It must have been old rancid lobster. I’ve had it before here but this was very thick and not creamy as usual! 🤢
Went for lobster special.Disappointed.Tail meat dry and tough.Too long on grill? Claw meat was OK.One in party had local sea bass.Said it was excellent.
Love their bread and white clam chowder. Can make a meal out of it. Great everything!!!!
For a 50th Anniversary and a 1st time visit, in truth, it was splendid. My in-laws enjoyed their dinner so much, we will probably go back for lunch before we leave.
Always great and fresh fish. The local Seabass and local halibut are amazing.
Could not have been better. I so liked the dinner that I already posted how great it was. What restaurants need to
realize is that there are so many good restaurants here in
Santa Barbara that it is so important to make every effort
to make your customers feel wanted and special because
you could loose them maybe forever if they are not taken care of. I am happy to say we will be back.
GREAT meal, our server was very professional and sweet. Thanks for a good time. Ordered Mai Tai's, not so good but maybe Hawaii has spoiled me.
We've been going to Enterprise Fish Company for probably 30 years. The food is consistently good and tonight's service was exceptional!
We went with our two teenagers for supper. Enjoyed it so much booked a return later in the week. Great seafood, good lively atmosphere but not too noisy. Lovely fish tanks to look at.
Seafood was loaded with shrimp and crab in the grilled Caesar. Romaine was left on grill a tad too long than I preferred but it was a delicious meal.
The freshest fish cooked to perfection. Great service and ambience as well.
We love this restaurant and we go there all the time, but on this visit we were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant when there were plenty of tables available up front. I asked the hostess to move us, 3 people, and her response was, no those waitresses are too busy over there already. Like I said, there were many available tables and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. My advice, replace your hostess!!
Went to Enterprise for quick Happy Hour meal. Got there about 5:30 on a Tuesday. Not crowded at bar or hightops nearby. Had a Corona and an Anchor Steam although menu had a nice selection of local beers. Ordered the skirt steak satay, two skewers of steak in a very tasty Worcestershire sauce on a bed of spicy cole slaw. Very good choice. Also had two lobster rolls which were disappointing. Two dinner-size rolls with a fair sized dollop of lobster salad on each for $15. Not much there for the money.
Christal was server. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive
What a lovely place to dine! The food was delicious, the service excellent!
The amount of food was enormous the ceviche was as delish !!! The Dover sole was fresh and super tasty
We had an out of town guest visiting and had just spent the day in Los Olivos. We wanted to take him here to have the lobster bisque soup with the famously good puff pastry!
Enterprise Fish Company did not disappoint us!!
Our table was ready as upon arrival for our group of seven. Orders were promptly taken and food arrived quickly. My lobster bisque was fabulous, but I returned my lobster roll. All I could taste was the lettuce and the "roll" was overcooked. I was surprised by how small it was, but since I sent it back, it didn't matter. My son reports that his sirloin steak was okay, but a bit too chewy. The others in our party enjoyed their entrees. We ordered the lava cake/ice cream for dessert. It was smaller than expected, but quite tasty. The restaurant vibe was good.
Good food, nice atmosphere, and outstanding customer service. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
I've never seen such consistently over-cooked seafood...shrimp, both fried and grilled, had the texture of boot leather, grilled (and sauced, mind you) halibut needed a knife to cut and chewed like a well-done steak, fried scallops were like rubber and the calamari was inedible. I'm not a critical diner, but this was terrible and was probably the first time in my life that we told our waitress how poorly done the food was. Were it not for an extremely understanding manager knocking a couple apps / entres off our tab, I would have given the "overall" a 1-star. Until their kitchen learns how to cook seafood, I recommend avoiding at all costs.
Brief visit to Santa Barbara mostly work but a chance to catch up with friends. Enterprise Fish proved to be as delicious this time as it was 12 years ago. Amazing Peruvian ceviche and poke to start with. Lobster bisque report was worth every calorie. The Thai style mahi-mahi was delicious served with coconut rice, two people had the Halibut each served differently. One Parmesan one more Asian style, and one seafood risotto. Shared a chocolate tart with malted milk balls. All excellent or reported to be . Rounding it out was hot crusty bread, great people watching, lovely salt water fish tanks, great service and the company
