Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.
Terrible- they waited until they returned to take our order that they were sold out of: all 3 soups, shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, ceviche. They after we adjusted our orders they came back and told us they had also sold out of another item we ordered! Service was terrible- slow and wait staff refused to interact in any way. Did not offer drink refills or enquire if those drinking cocktails would like another or an alternative. Entrees were very slow arriving and lackluster. The mahi mahi was overcooked and the macadamias sparse. The lobster rolls were dry and the lobster was so shredded as to be unrecognizable. The chocolate malt tart dessert was hard and probably stale- definitely not ganache texture. Will never return and would never recommend.
The restaurant did not have many of the staples of the menu including clam chowder which was a side for almost every dish. As well the lobster bisque was out. Other than that, the vibe is fun and we had a pleasant experience
Busy place + loud; server was not particularly good or attentive; we had to ask for seafood prongs + cutlery when our main course arrived...was not engaging..fish was overcooked which impacted its taste + freshness; also did not acknowledge our daughters birthday (even though I requested it)...would not go back any time soon.
We always enjoy eating here . Great staff and yummy food
It was our 38 Anniversary with our son and my best friend that came down from Northern CA. We retired to Bend OREGON. We came back to our special place to celebrate. I ordered the mix seafood grill which was suppose to be shrimp, scallops and fish. Everything came pretty fast. My mixed grill was shrimp and two kinds of fish. When I asked where my scallops where, I was told they where to expensive so they made the white fish look like scallops. No sorry at first and I was the first person to bring it up. They made it up in the end after talking to the manager. It put a damper on our celebration.
Great server, food and atmosphere. Will come again.
Usually one of our favorite places, this visit just wasn’t up to par. The food was good as usual, but even this early on a Friday night it was so crowded the staff couldn’t be very attentive, and the noise level was almost intolerable. I’m sure we’ll be back again, maybe midday sometime. This one was a disappointment.
Good food, nice table. Party of 4.
Service a bit off. Not checked on regularly. Order confusion. No water refill until we flagged down waitress.
Otherwise nice experience.
I don't know where to start it was so bad. Wouldn't even touch half the food they put in front of us. Terrible.
Wonderful restaurant. Food never disappoints. Highly recommend for a good seafood restaurant.
Had a wonderful dinner here and loved the Swordfish and Mesquite Grilled Shrimp. Good portions, lots of options on the menu and service was superb
Great food, great service, great ambience. The first place to eat when you visit SB!
Over cooked fish courses served way before finishing appetizers and hurled onto the table by impatient wait staff. What’s not to make me go elsewhere?
Great atmosphere with exposed high ceiling and open kitchen. The nautical atmosphere and large aquariums make a perfect atmosphere for a casual get together.
The prices are very reasonable. Their strength seemed to be fish tacos, fish & chips, and other bar food rather than gourmet fish dishes. The service was iffy but I would go again for a casual evening with friends.
Server was rushed, forgot our place settings, had to be reminded multiple times. Didn’t know the menu, I placed an order for something and he came back saying it was out of season. He should have checked ahead of time and known what was available before taking the order. Seemed annoyed every time we asked for something. Added a service charge/tip and our party only had 4 adults and 1 child?!
Very good food and service. Also very loud, but restaurant honored request for table that provided some relief from the noise.
The service was slow and inattentive. The noise level is way too loud. The food is barely eatable. I would not suggest this restaurant, there are plenty of other choices in Santa Barbara
We used to really like this restaurant, but now if is only "OK." Prices no longer include soup or salad, just veggies and cole slaw, which given the portion size of entrees, is not a very good deal.
We dined on a Monday $30 lobster special night - fantastic 2 lb lobster dinner. Watched my elderly mother enjoy the entire lobster.
We have been to Enterprise Fish Co. several times and have never been disappointed!
We had a fantastic time and will return when in Santa Barbara.
I brought an out-of-town friend and we both loved it! I like to bring friends here.
Excellent food. Excellent help.
Excellent cuisine, beautiful location and friendly staff. Recommended.
We try to come here often! This was the place for our first date 36 years ago! The food was delicious and our waiter was attentive and adorable! We will definitely be back!
A wonderful, generous sparkling wine cocktail and some of the best whole roasted fish I've had in ages. Over all a wonderful New Years Eve meal (given the Chinese penchant for eating fish - lucky! - on New Years). Seated next to the colorful fish in the nice aquarium was lucky too. I would normally prefer a more stylish ambiance, but all things considered, I feel lucky (!) to eat here on New Years Eve.
My wife’s Fish was a little over cooked, service was a tad slow.
Great food & service.
Great service, good food and perfect location. Always a fun place to eat at while in Santa Barbara.
We picked up our son at the train station and walked right over and had a delicious dinner. Everyone raved about their meals. The cocktails were perfect. It was a very satisfying end to the day, especially for our son after 14 hours on the train! We will be back!!
Great food in a fun environment. We Loved our meal!
Nice find near funk zone. Overall very good, child friendly and friendly service.
Always a great locals place. Very busy tonight so service was not up to normal excellence.
Good location, great seafood. Only problem is staffing. They allow 6PM reservations, but only have "2 servers on duty" until a little afterwards. This is not the first time we've had to wait for a table, even though we had a reservation.
Overall experience just average, food was good, however I felt rushed by staff always interrupting to remove plates etc. Have enjoyed this restaurant in the past but will not be coming back. There are many other restaurant in SB that offer a better dining experience.
Great food and a great time!
Everything was delicious! I will definitly return!
