Our menu is based on classic dishes that we experienced in people"s homes in Italy. Some are family recipes and others we learned by cooking with friends back home in Roma.
This menu is structured for either a classic or family style "tasting" dining experience, depending on what mood you're in! No matter which way you dine we do encourage you to share and to try each other's dishes.
I hope you enjoy the simple ingredient combinations and taste the spirit of Rome in Chicago. Always remember that if you've had something here before and you don't see it on the menu, just ask. If we can make it for you we will.

Great place. Worth the trip. Delicious food! Everything was wonderful!
I love the back yard dining area! The food is always fabulous- best polenta Bolognese111 The servers and the owner are really nice and very helpful. I have nothing but praise and I come in from Arlington Heights into the city to eat there!
I specifically requested a table in the main bar area because the bakery side of the restaurant has a very odd ambiance. I was seated in the bakery. The server was rushed and never even asked us if we wanted drinks before she was asking us to order food. I had to ask her if there were any specials. This is one of my favorite Italian places in the city, but I will never eat there again if I get seated in the bakery side. Also, why is this place playing top 40 music instead of sometime casual and Italian? Regrettable dining experience in an otherwise reliable place.
This is my new favorite restaurant. Am a repeat patron ... and will continue to frequent this restaurant. One of the joys living in the city is to try new restaurants at every occasion. However, this restaurant is so sensational -- need to continue to frequent it so I can try every dish on the menu ... and then come back for more!
Food was good but service was very slow. Server had tables all over restaurant. My friend had a piece. Of plastic in bruschetta.
Good food and good service. A nice casual Italian restaurant.
Lovely quiet large dining garden in the back. There is also outside seating in the front by the street but why? Food was authentic and we all also wanting to try what others had ordered. All entree's were great. Our Italian waiter was friendly and helpful.
Excellent meal and service. The panna cotta was a disappointment ... bland.
We were celebrating our sons send off to College and the back Garden was the perfect location. Server was excellent, food was spectacular, ambiance was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I’m not sure if the outdoor patio gets mentioned much. It should - it’s wonderful! Food is great. Most of the bottles of wine are affordable.
Cannot rave enough about this restaurant. Was supposed to meet a friend there, but she had an emergency. Looked around, saw the fabulous dishes being served, the lovely cozy environment, decided to stay and have dinner by myself. So very glad I did. It was absolutely wonderful, the owner personally visited with all the diners, the food was unbelievably delicious (I had the cod), the server was super friendly.
Highly highly highly recommend this restaurant, and cannot wait to return. Indeed, will be making a reservation soon to celebrate my mother's and nephew's birthdays this month.
food was so very mediocre. Their Roman pizza was nothing more than a pieces of thick bread with toppings that weren't even baked in. Pasta was tasteless. In a city with so many great options this is not one if them.
This restaurant serves authentic Italian food and it is wonderful! The outdoor patio is inviting and comfortable, just perfect for a summer evening in Chicago. I highly recommend Enoteca Roma to anyone who is in search of a quality Italian dining experience.
Daily specials, handmade pasta, wine list. Need I say more?
Enoteca Roma used to be one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood and we always raved about the food and service to our friends. Tonight was our daughter’s 7th birthday and she requested this restaurant since she celebrated her 6th birthday here last year. The kitchen made her a delicious take on carbonara (her favorite). However, the special with papperdelle and seafood was fishy and salty. I didn’t eat it and didn’t expect it to be taken off of our bill. I did think that having noted that it was our daughter’s birthday on our reservation notes that the restaurant would have at least said happy birthday or sent out a dessert like last year. We are disappointed with our experience and with the other Italian restaurants in our neighborhood (Tocco, Via Carducci, Nando Milano) we will not be back. It’s disappointing because I wanted this to be a birthday tradition for my daughter.
This is the most innovative menu. Creative in a playful and interesting way, without being fussy or frilly. Food is great and a really enjoyable experience.
Extremely loud/ drunk family party going on all around us in the small dining area. Constant children running into our seat and drunk adults yelling at them and each other while standing in our small personal space. Food was good but could not be enjoyed because of the ambience.
The service was great. Food was outstanding. Great hidden outdoor patio that made you feel like you were no longer in the city.
The food and service was great. However, I used a gift card to pay for our meal, telling them to add 20% tip..they were not sure how to do it. That was ok with me because between the three of them they figured it out. The problem that arose was probably my own fault for not Checking my gift card balance until I got home, but they had somehow mistakenly deducted to much from the card. It was an honest mistake
Because it did cause confusion, but I think you might want to show them how to do this.
We live downtown Chicago so go out a lot. Pleasantly surprised with very nice garden dining in the back of the restaurant. Lots of people so knew the food would be good. Had the special - Asparagus Ravioli - it was great. Everyone liked what they chose. Very authentic Italian. Bread was so-so but olive oil was the real thing. We will for sure go back.
We are never disappointed by Enoteca, from food to wine to waitstaff they are amazing. We have been coming for years and it is a special place. A first date, an office party or just a place to meet friends, this is where u want to go. The food is home made, from pasta to gnocchi, fresh fish to wonderful deserts, you will find it here.
The food was absolutely delicious and an amazing patio. I will be going back!
Back patio feels like any trattoria in Italy. Authentic pasta to match. Quiet, neighborhood gem that always makes us feel welcome. And give the Pollentaria a try. Creamy & smooth; served tableside. Mmmmmm.
As an Italian from Bologna I am sorry to say that this restaurant was a disappointment. I had been here 10 years ago and liked it but things have sadly changed. The gnocchi had chunks of mozzarella on it (fresh, not melted, not clear why, I've never seen that in Italy) and when we asked for Parmigiano (we had to ask) we received the jar of stale cheese that cheap pizzerias have. The Montepulciano wine was chalky, we didn't even finish it. Ah, and I had tried to impress my friend by bringing her here! She told me she doesn't believe I'm an authentic Italian since I chose this disappointing restaurant. :(
The menu was great - would try everything on it! The bruschetta flight was amazing - brilliant idea. Atmosphere was nice - quiet dining experience.
Waiter seemed very rushed and impatient but the food was very good. The back courtyard is very charming.
the hidden surprise is the quaint outdoor patio garden. Fantastic bruscetta - try them all. Friendly staff, allowed us to enjoy the evening without a rush.
bruschetta plate was good! pork gnocchi was only ok
Not only is the food here great and authentic, but the staff go out of their way to be pleasant and welcoming. Our server Ferhan was wonderful, smiling, happy, informative. We had the Pizza Ostia Antica (tomatoes, prosciutto, goat cheese and arugula), which was delicious and that was followed by the Giovanna pasta (spicy marinara, eggplant, basil and burrata with spaghetti - wonderful flavor); the pan-seared cod with lemon, tomatoes, spinach and potatoes and the chicken with lemon and rosemary, mushrooms and broccolini - both fabulous. Wine is very reasonable by the glass. Fehran then suggested the trip of panna cotta for a light dessert, and we agreed. Three tiny ramekins: the caramel and the chocolate were not bad, but the mixed berries was tasteless. I mentioned this to Fehran and asked to sub out one of the other flavors - she came back with a large piece of tiramisu! That's what I'm talkin' about! Service! Thank you for a great meal!
The food was solid, and they have a nice back patio for the summer!
The gnocchi is awesome! I would eat it again in a heartbeat!
Always the best. Take friends who have never been there. Love the dragona pizza and venison bolognese on creamy polenta. Everything is wonderful. Great garden in the back.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago!!
Great food and service.
Appetizers excellent, main course ok, kind of skimpy and cold, but tasty. Service excellent
Knowledgeable and friendly staff with some of the better Italian I have had in Chicago.
The food was incredible, as always. The seating is a little cramped, but it is worth it for the food. The service was a little slow this time, but overall very well done.
Enoteca Roma was so delicious! I could tell simply by reading the menu that this place looked authentic and it was. The bruschetta was great and I loved how it came in a flight of 5 so that you could pick which ones you wanted. There were 5 people in my groups so that worked out perfectly! The caprese salad was one of the best I've had! The gnocchi was amazing and melted in your mouth! My mom had a special pasta made with fettuchini and vegetables and it was outstanding! They were also very accommodating to her. My husband asked if they could do chicken marsala instead of veal and they did. It was fantastic, as well! Overall Enoteca Roma is one of my new favorite Italian restaurants. We will absolutely be back!
They quickly addressed a food allergy mistake that was made on my order, despite being informed of the allergies. It was brought to their attention and handled immediately, and they apologized for the mistake. I was asking for an item off the menu (my fave dish they no longer have on the menu), so I wasn’t about to make a big deal out of it. I was grateful that I was able to enjoy my meal afterwards, catch up with my friend, and make new ones with the table next to us. That’s what it’s all about.
I’d never had the chance to visit Enoteca Roma before. It was a perfect, cozy spot on a rainy Friday night to catch up with a friend! Loved the bruschetta flight.....loved all our choices but my favorites were the spicy raspberry jam with Brie and the carmelized onion and Gorgonzola. We split the beet salad which was delish and the risotto with prosciutto and Parmesan. Super friendly service! Very hospitable owner/chef! Can’t wait to go back!
