Lovely intimate space but not impressed what I ordered. Soup was tasty, but much too expensive for small bowl of thin broth with a few veggies floating within. Salad was just large leaves of lettuce with way too much grainy salt applied. Nothing else.
Took a bite of friend's dessert, and that was quite delicious. He had fish entree which looked good.
Tried walking in the week before since we were nearby but couldn't get a table. Decided to make a reservation & come back, glad we did. food was very good, promptly seated which was nice. Service was very good, small, quaint but for sure make a reservation as the tables are very scarce. Enjoy the food if you go, wine list is nice as well as good selection by the glass. Worth trying out & we will be back.
There was nothing negative about this restaurant. We arrived to find a number of people waiting at the door. The hostess was patient and offered alternatives to those ahead of us. She asked if we had reservations (which I had fortunately just made earlier in the day) and immediately ushered us to a table in a room with a pianist playing. The music was lovely, the wait staff were informed and efficient, the food was terrific, and the price was good for the quality of the entire evening.
Couldn't have been happier to dine for the first time at Enoteca. The service is excellent and it felt personal without overly so. They created a savory swordfish dish and their homemade ragu is rich with flavor. Homemade noodles...yum! We didn't have time for dessert but next time. Nice wine selection.
The food is simple but sophisticated Italian, slightly more Sicilian, but the full range of dishes and wines are well selected. Chef and waitstaff are so very pleasant. Almond cake was a special treat, with macerated pears and a bit of cardamom. Can’t wait to return for more!
I have been to this restaurant three or four times, each time a little less impressive. The menu has gotten less creative with many dishes with the same tomato sauce. The best thing we had was a sauteed pork tenderloin accompanied with broccolini and a few baby potatoes. The arancini were fine but nothing special. The disappointing dish was the pasta with ragu, too much pasta, not enough sauce and rather sloppily presented. No cheese offered. Wine list is good. Best to go for a drink and an antipasta.
Love this little place. I’ve been there 3 times. I keep going back because I want to try everything on the menu. I’m about half way through. It’s a fairly small menu but everything is top notch and delicious. I love the orecchiette with broccoli rabe. Perfect texture and flavor combination.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Count on Angelo for consistently excellent food and for Joe and his delicious home made desserts and his knowledge about his great Italian wine list. We love that the restaurant is small, that the staff's attention is casual but informed and friendly, that the menu is small but offers interesting choices and most of all, that the Italian food is fresh, well seasoned and delicious. The ragu and the orecchietti are fabulous.
We were beyond pleasantly surprised during our first experience here. The food was outstanding, including the sublime desserts (almond cake and chocolate budino). A true neighborhood gem. Perfect for a quiet, cozy, romantic evening. We will definitely be back!
We have had dinner at Enoteca Molinari three times this year. We never have been disappointed with the food. Our little gem and radicchio salad with lemon vinaigrette was fresh and crisp. The portion was generous. We shared the swordfish which was cooked perfectly and was delicate and moist, and the gnocchi with eggplant and tomato which was light and flavorful. The almond torte for dessert with strawberries was delicate and fresh. Good wines by the glass.
We have been to Enoteca Molinari many times and are never disappointed. The menu seems small but actually has a wonderful selection of things in every category. Everything is made fresh right in front of you and the the owner stands behind the bar and orchestrates the evenings enjoyment. The wine selection is especially notable since it is an all-italian list and advice and tastes are available from Joe and makes it a great experience.
Food generally very good. Service friendly bit a tad irregular, but generally Ok, considering there was only one waitperson for the entire restaurant, albeit a very small restauant (probably 15 at table and 10 or so at the bar). The calamari and pasta with broccoli rabe were excellent. We will definitely go there again many times, and bring out-of-town guests.
Our guests were from Denmark and newly returned from a vacation in Italy, so we chose to take them to our favorite Italian restaurant. They, and we, loved every bite. Our table had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers and entrees, and everyone was pleased with their choices. We made a point of leaving room for dessert, which is a must here. We had the salted caramel pudding, the nectarine/peach sorbet and the Panna Cotta, which is not to be missed!
The wine selection was excellent, and the after dinner grappa choices were welcome. It was every bit the experience we had hoped for and expected, and we will return.
Little place in Rockridge with great wines and good food to accompany. We had warm grilled calamari with arugula in a vinaigrette, fried squash flowers with a ricotta-herb mixture, eggplant stacks with tomato sauce and ricotta, and an absolutely fabulous hanger steak with broccolini and roasted- in- some type- of -very flavorful oil, fingerling potatoes.
No room for dessert, but Italian desserts don't call to us anyway.
Great service from a guy who speaks terrific English and Italian. Definitely will return!
