Owner Joe Madison is doing his darndest to keep his wonderful restauran alive. Only a half dozen outdoor tables, but the same wonderful house made pasta highlights a great menu.
We have found Enoteca Molinari to be one of the more authentic Italian restaurants in the Bay Area. The food and Italian wine selection is always a treat.
Wow, their pastas are simply divine! With there friendly and excellent Italian chef and waiter along with long time owner, Joe, this place is a fantastic Friday or Saturday night out for couples or friends. They are safe, tables are outside off College Avenue and Joe's wine selection is really price friendly and deliciously Italian. Special applause for their Tagliatelle al ragu', fresh swordfish, Orecchiette can le cime di rapa (house made past with broccoli rabe, pecorino and always add the house sausage to this dish. Their gnocchi is light and delicious as well. Love supporting the smaller, family owned restaurants and we come from Alamo, Danville and Walnut Creek with friends and its all of a 17 minute drive. What a great place!
We loved it! Service was great and friendly! Thank you!
This is one of our favorite Oakland restaurants. Intimate, great seasonal menu, delicious food, excellent service and great Italian wine list. We often prefer it for "date night" or a special occasion.
Best Italian in Bay....great wine selection...chef amazing... service fantastic
Simply the best homespun Italian cuisine, served by the best people, paired with an amazing Italian wine list.
The food was great and plentiful. I had the large tagliatelle with ragu and it was really enough for two people. Our table was, of course, outside. But we were on the Taft Avenue side and away from the College Avenue traffic so it was quieter. We would definitely go back.
Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service - good was very good - ambiance on outside sidewalk ok - not great but that's not their fault! Enjoyed it and would go back!
We were lucky to get a 7:30pm reservation with a nice outside table this past Saturday. This place brings a small family style charm with even the Italian chef saying hello. This is a place where you feel welcome and can splurge on some of the best pasta around. Light delicious pastas without heavy sauces combined with wonderful salads. Their local calamari (not fried) is spectacular and we love their pesto gnocchi and their tagliatelle and their light kale pasta. Great wines are always being poured by the wonderful owner, Joe. One of the best kept secrets in Oakland and San Francisco Bay area.
It's a great restaurant/owner & ran very well. They really deliver for their patrons. Good wines & excellent food.
Great attentive service, delicious food and wine. Covid safety was a priority.
Wonderful food, warm service, really sweet place. It was outdoor dining ONLY.
The sidewalk is not the perfect location for dining, hence the lower star for ambiance. But the food, as always was outstanding, and the outdoor service well managed.
Wonderful to have a dine in meal after six months of closures.
Amazing meal - everything on point!
Restaurant did a phenomenal job adapting to the Covid situation. Staff wears masks, regularly cleans all surfaces, tables will set out outside of the restaurant with hand sanitizers on the table. Really made for a wonderful time, being carefree from Covid, and able to enjoy the spectacular food and drinks that they offered. The pasta here is very well done, great texture and good sized portions. Can’t wait to go back again!
Nice wine selection accomoanied by simple Italian dishes but of high quality.
Great experience, service was polite and professional it was just slow. It took 45 minutes to place an order for appetizers.
Food and wine was outstanding.
Fabulous. . . as always! Delicious food, wine and wonderful service. What more could you ask for?
Yay! Enoteca reopened for outdoor dining during SIP. So glad to have them back in the hood. Love the food and friendly service.
Although not enclosed, the tables are on the side street, where there is little foot traffic.
Enoteca Molinari is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious. The service is great. They are generous with the wine tasting to make sure you get the one that suits you. Aaaaand we’re always welcomed in like old friends. What could be better?
This is a charming little restaurant. Service excellent, food very good (my only mild comment is that the green salad could use just a tiny bit of sprucing up). Everything else was excellent.
The Chef lost our order for more than 30 minutes. The service was very inattentive for such a small place.
My favorite spot. Sit at the bar if you can.
Overall, the food was fantastic. The ambiance is a bit lacking and the service was just awkward. The person helping our waitress would come to the table to pour water, but still have his hand in his pocket. That was strange. But the food really was the star. We enjoyed the restaurant and hope to go back. We just hope they work on the look of the place. This could be something special.
Seated promptly, welcoming service, excellent food. Top-notch Italian wine list. All hard surfaces makes it borderline noisy. One learning for us - it was our second visit in 2 weeks. Same menu, with not all that many options. We’ll probably wait until spring to return to get some menu variety.
The newly remodeled space is lovely and the restaurant is quieter as a result of spacious seating. The chef is lovely and works so hard at creating authentic dishes. I love this place!
one of my two favourite restaurants in the Oakridge area or for that matter all of Berkeley/Oakland
A long-standing small restaurant in Rockridge seems to have new energy as it expands into adjacent space. The Saturday-night vibe was buzzy and fun; the crowd was clearly glad to be there; and the almost-ready expanded space looks great. Staff behind the bar and on the floor were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about food and wine pairings. Salads are interesting, and pastas are great. Pork saltimbocca was OK, not remarkable. The panna cotta was absolutely wonderful. All-Italian wine list is full of moderately-priced treasures. Can't wait to go back.
Sadly, the restaurant was a big disappointment. Two salad dishes were flavorless. Squid salad had a few
Pieces of squid with fennel and virtually no seasoning. Another salad dish was tasteless. I used tho olive oil that came with the bread to flavor the salad. Service was nonexistent until I called the waiter to tell him my entree was not what I had ordered. He offered to prepare the correct order but I did not want to spend another half hour waiting for food. Many better restaurants in the area.
We really like this place. It is slightly above our budget, so a trip there is always a special splurge. I think we have been 5 times since it opened, one time on New Year's Eve. The menu is fairly small and they do each item really well. Most recently we had saltimboca. delicious. And they have Belgian beer as well as a large wine selection.
Another spectacular dining experience - great waiters and owner and chef. Love the house pasta! One of our favorite “go to” places
Great food, but sexist staff. They were verbally surprised when the woman in our party ordered the heartier meatier dish. We will not be returning
Dining at Enoteca Molinari makes me feel like I am dining in Italy. We’re so lucky to live not far from this restaurant. The menu is not large, but every dish is perfectly prepared and feels totally authentic. All of the pastas are wonderful and have the same “chew” as pasta in Italy does. The wine list is exclusively Italian and has enabled us to learn a lot about Italian wines. The service is always warm and helpful. The salted caramel budino is absolutely heavenly! I love this restaurant.
Second visit. Great food and wine and friendly staff.
Lovely place w dedicated behind the scene folks. 5 of us for $250.00 after 3 hrs. Plus $100.00 worth of wine.
Great food and a great time. Love the wine list and friendly atmosphere.
