Lovely evening and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!
The food was impeccable and the service was stellar. We were treated like royalty. It was so great to have authentic Italian food! The wine suggested paired perfectly with the food. The panna cotta was heavenly.
had a delightful dinner at Enoteca Molinari last night. It was our first visit to the restaurant and we were really pleased with everything. It started with the outdoor seating, with a table for two on Taft Ave instead of College, so we had a view of a treed side street instead of College traffic. Our service, provided by Fabiano, was just right. He showed up at the right times, really knows the menu and has a great sense of humor. They had a wide wine selection - mostly Italian of course. The Insalata siciliana was a tasty start with a great combination of flavors, the tagliatelle al ragu with beef and pork had a robust country feel, and the almond tart with strawberry and cream just melted in my mouth. We'll be back!
We met friends for dinner, and had a very enjoyable meal. We were seated right on time, indoors per our request. The asparagus-burrata-prosciutto appetizer was delicious, and the prosciutto tasted like it was high-quality. We also shared an order of the arancini, which were quite tasty as well. Among us, we tried the tagliatelli al ragu, the Saltimbocca, and the orecchiette with broccoli and sausage, and we all were pleased with our entrees. I tasted my husband's Saltimbocca, and found it very flavorful. For dessert, we shared a strawberry-almond cake that was refreshing. The only issue we had is that the service was a bit slow, but as things are ramping back up after COVID shutdowns, many restaurants are short-staffed, so I understand service may be slow. As far as we could tell, there was just one waiter serving both indoor and outdoor tables, and he was clearly working very hard. We weren't in any hurry, so we didn't mind a bit of waiting. I will definitely return to try more of their menu options.
Delicious food! Really good. The device was a bit haphazard (but not rude). There could be more severs, but the food made up for it. Delicious swordfish and chocolate mousse.
Terrible service! Took 20 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. And so long for our apps and entrees. Our server never checked back with us and gave tables seated after us attentive service. The Gnocchi was over cooked and oily. Will never return.
We enjoyed a fantastic meal and great service in a bright, airy setting. Wish we had discovered EM years ago! Will definitely be back.
One of our favs & it's very good food but the ownership etc. is great as well. Glad they have made it thru the recent past/issues. Go there!
Great experience. Should be a top neighborhood spot. Service was awesome.
The best Italian dinner since we were in Florence in 2019. The Tagliatelle al Ragu' is always great and always on the menu, but the new and changing dishes are worth a try. The almond cake for dessert was light, just sweet enough, and a perfect ending.
Couldn't ask for better swordfish. Cooked to my exact request and the vino matched up as expected. Service was well handled and kept coming back asking if anything was needed or missing. Highly recommend the food and the chef has a Neapolitan touch.
One missing item may have been for the coffee but we did go there for the food.
No disappointment there.
Great food and service. Obviously eating on the street in the pandemic was less than desirable but completely understandable. The food was great however.
As my first dining experience since the pandemic this could not have been better, sitting under a heater outside and tasting delicious food. We ate the rice croquettes, arancini I think, which are totally yummy and good to share . Then we had a lovely blood orange and fennel and pickled red onion sala d with a very light dressing. We ended each having another hot starter of baked cauliflower in a tomato sauce and grated cheese, and with a glass of wine , could not have been happier. So there is an alternative to pasta which is of course also delicious.
Great authentic italian ristorante and wine bar, the best I can think of in the area and the closest to the real deal in italy i have ever had. couldnt recommend enough
since our area is not yet open for inside dining, this locally-owned neighborhood restaurant meets all of the criteria for safety and good food during these pandemic times and is worthy of attention. Small so best to make a reservation.
We love this restaurant. The food is great and the staff do everything to make your dining experience pleasurable.
Great wine, terrific food and a fantastic neighborhood location, this is a staple for us - even during the Covid shut down.
This has been a favorite for years. Just had dinner there and was even more impressed with the quality of the food this time! Everything we enjoyed was excellent! The service and staff are phenomenal! We have always enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and authentic welcoming vibe that we experienced while traveling in Italy.
Outdoor dining only and they only had four tables outside. While there, only three of the four tables were occupied. We ordered two appetizers, two salads and two pasta entrees to share. The appetizers came in approximately 15 minutes after placing our entire order, then salads came another 15 minutes after we finished the appetizers, and our entrees another 15 minutes after the salads. It was quite a long time between courses, but the entrees did come out hot.
Thank you for the feedback. I apologize about the wait. I'm the owner and I was your server that night. We're understaffed because business is slow due to the pandemic which means we can't afford a full staff. It's just me and the chef on most weekdays. We juggle between takeout, delivery and table service which may have made things seem much slower than they would be normally. I apologize. Thank you for supporting us during this difficult time, Joe
Had a great dinner outside due to Covid. Our server was also the owner and he was very nice and food was great too.
Enjoyed the food and wine in outside tables (and heat lamps) during COVID. The wait staff was attentive but also kept their distance, so I appreciated that. It was the first night of low temperatures in November, and the heat lamps, along with jacket and a hat that I usually don't ever wear, kept me warm enough to enjoy the outside dining.
Outdoor dining with heaters. Food was really good.
As good an outside dining experience as possible in these times.
Yum! Everything was delicious and the wine was fantastic. A truly memorable experience.
Owner Joe Madison is doing his darndest to keep his wonderful restauran alive. Only a half dozen outdoor tables, but the same wonderful house made pasta highlights a great menu.
We have found Enoteca Molinari to be one of the more authentic Italian restaurants in the Bay Area. The food and Italian wine selection is always a treat.
Wow, their pastas are simply divine! With there friendly and excellent Italian chef and waiter along with long time owner, Joe, this place is a fantastic Friday or Saturday night out for couples or friends. They are safe, tables are outside off College Avenue and Joe's wine selection is really price friendly and deliciously Italian. Special applause for their Tagliatelle al ragu', fresh swordfish, Orecchiette can le cime di rapa (house made past with broccoli rabe, pecorino and always add the house sausage to this dish. Their gnocchi is light and delicious as well. Love supporting the smaller, family owned restaurants and we come from Alamo, Danville and Walnut Creek with friends and its all of a 17 minute drive. What a great place!
We loved it! Service was great and friendly! Thank you!
This is one of our favorite Oakland restaurants. Intimate, great seasonal menu, delicious food, excellent service and great Italian wine list. We often prefer it for "date night" or a special occasion.
Best Italian in Bay....great wine selection...chef amazing... service fantastic
Simply the best homespun Italian cuisine, served by the best people, paired with an amazing Italian wine list.
The food was great and plentiful. I had the large tagliatelle with ragu and it was really enough for two people. Our table was, of course, outside. But we were on the Taft Avenue side and away from the College Avenue traffic so it was quieter. We would definitely go back.
Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service - good was very good - ambiance on outside sidewalk ok - not great but that's not their fault! Enjoyed it and would go back!
We were lucky to get a 7:30pm reservation with a nice outside table this past Saturday. This place brings a small family style charm with even the Italian chef saying hello. This is a place where you feel welcome and can splurge on some of the best pasta around. Light delicious pastas without heavy sauces combined with wonderful salads. Their local calamari (not fried) is spectacular and we love their pesto gnocchi and their tagliatelle and their light kale pasta. Great wines are always being poured by the wonderful owner, Joe. One of the best kept secrets in Oakland and San Francisco Bay area.
It's a great restaurant/owner & ran very well. They really deliver for their patrons. Good wines & excellent food.
Great attentive service, delicious food and wine. Covid safety was a priority.
Wonderful food, warm service, really sweet place. It was outdoor dining ONLY.
The sidewalk is not the perfect location for dining, hence the lower star for ambiance. But the food, as always was outstanding, and the outdoor service well managed.
Wonderful to have a dine in meal after six months of closures.
Amazing meal - everything on point!
