   I cannot fault the attention, place or food when we booked on the 23rd Nov 2013. The gentleman who served was extremely pleasant as so were the rest of the staff.

   Have been to the English Lounge several times now and have always found the food and service of a very nice standard.

   Went to English Lounge to celebrate my mother's birthday. This was her 1st visit. Everyone's eyes were out on stalks when we received the meat sharing platter. This is for 2 people, could easily go round 4. Mussels were amazing. Everyone loved their meal

   The six of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The lamb and mint pie was exceptional, as well as a great choice of cask ales and wine. The only slight moan I would have is that we weren't offered sweets which didn't please all of our party. Overall thewhole experience was very good and we will return.

   Lunch for 3 on Mother's Day. Unfortunately special request for seating had been mislaid but was quickly and neatly corrected. The service was very slow but the food was worth looking for! Very tasty and will be back...

   I booked a table here to dine while my children were at the nearby MEN. We arrived very early but were still seated at our reserved table immediately. The food is superb. I had chicken and the other half steak both were perfect . As a smoker - there is a smoking area upstairs on the patio with a heater which is well away from diners and drinkers. the staff were very friendly. I will be recommending the english lounge to my friends and i will certainly return

   I go on a regular basis to the English Lounge, for Sunday Lunch also, which it superb! only problem is if you want extra gravy, there is a £1 charge which I think spoils the service, as a pot of gravy dosen't cost alot to keep a customer happy! On a good note everything is ideal and the food is fantastic, plus staff are very polite and helpful .

   This is really a pub with food. Even at 6:00 pm it was very busy as a pub playing loud music. The food area was not particulary busy but food service was still pretty slow - it felt like front of house staff were also helping out in the kitchen. The food itself was mostly good. The prawn starter, though conventional, was tasty and hot. One of us ordered the scallops and this was cold on arrival. Main courses were substantial and good - and not overcooked. It was all reasonabily priced. I wouldn't choose to make a special trip there for the food but as a pre-show venue, it was good enough and reasonably priced. Not a venue for the romantic or hard of hearing!

    Just as well we had booked via Top Table as it looked fully booked. Didn't have long to wait for the meal and there was draught beer on for John, Timothy Taylor's so he was happy. Good atmosphere and nice lighting, not too light or dark so it appeared warm and cosy in there.
