The Engleside Inn, located in Beach Haven, New Jersey, not only provides its guests with excellent lodging, but it also contains the Leeward Room for fine dining. This on-site restaurant has made a name for itself over the years as one of the finest in the Long Beach islands area. There is also a bar in this restaurant within the Engleside Inn where guests can select from an excellent list of wines and liquors.
Premium steaks are a big part of the draw at the Leeward Room at the Engleside Inn. You can find many other examples of fine American cuisine on the menu, such as the scallops encrusted with wasabi or the chicken breast glazed in ginger.
Very good quality food & nice atmosphere!
The food is mediocre. The restaurant needs updating.
We had our favorite meal of King Cut Prime Rib with house mashed potatoes and string beans. Also a house salad.
Great meal as usual!
We sat in the bar area at 6 PM. It was filled to capacity . It took 70 minutes to get a salad and 90 injures to get our dinner- sushi for 6. Once passed the service issues, the salad and sushi was very good. They just couldn't handle the crowd.
The salmon special was outstanding even though the salmon was a touch over cooked. The salmon was over shaved fennel and shiitake mushrooms and mashed potatoes on the side. Great combo. Love the wine list options at this restaurant.
We had a Reservation and wanted outdoor seating so they sat us at the Sand Bar which is seating on the beach. It’s mostly Bar fare so we ordered burgers from a waitress who yawned her way through serving us as she had zero personality. It was busy with a lively, mixed crowd of young and old which we liked. Menu was way too limited and we should have eaten inside as Burgers were average and everything served on plastic/paper plates. Frozen drinks were very good. Overall, food, service was below average and we will likely not return
Always very good! I get sushi and the rest of the family gets the prime rib special/ we go every summer!
Didn’t realize there was a early bird menu. The only reservation available was 5:00pm lucky us. We both ordered from the Early Bird menu. Prime Rib & Broiled Seafood combo. Both were excellent. Soup or salad and dessert included.
I’ve always had good meals at the Engleside but unfortunately I ordered the flounder franchaise which was presented in a shallow bowl dish and was swimming in a thin liquidy sauce along with the spinach. It made the fish mushy. We had time constraints so I did not send the dish back which I should have. The server was very good. One other note, I feel the hostess should dress more toward business casual instead of washed out blue jeans.
Since most of the family has summer birthday's we try to get to the Engleside to celebrate them. We love the early bird and always get a great meal. Food is delicious and fresh.
Food was excellent Lobster great, 8 oz filet mignons were cooked to proper temperature, Service was horrible. It took 2 hours 15 minutes for dinner. I believe it was just our server and not the rest
We were a party of four on a holiday week-end night, and we probably should have anticipated the uncomfortable noise level which made conversation impossible. Our entrees were all very good. Our server did a good job with a very busy table assignment, but he was too anxious to clear our plates while one of our party was still eating . . . please don't do that. I did finally ask him to wait until we were all finished. The baked potatoes and mixed vegetables were under-cooked and left uneaten; I mentioned this to the host as we were leaving.
Tried and true LBI seafood place - Portions are large especially the fried shrimp appetizer. One of my dining group had sushi while two of us had seafood and angel hair pasta. All 3 dishes were excellent. Despite having a new server he was very attentive and the spacing of the food was done very well.
Another very enjoyable evening at the Engelside. Good food and good service. Promptly seated
First night of vacation. Started our week off with a great start.
great food, good value and service
Always a great meal! Everything is good there and you can make reservations, which is a plus!
For an enjoyable meal I would definetely recommend the Engleside. We had calamari, blackend sea scallops and lobster bisque for an appetizer and they were delicious. our meals were cod, crab cakes and steak and each meal was perfect. Our waiter was just the best and it was great to make the reservations on line and have a confirmation sent to my e-mail. Have lived on the mainland for a while and not sure why we haven't tried it but now that we have, we will certainly be going back.
Disappointing! I have been to this restaurant before and loved it. It was not up to par this time. Took over an hour to get our entrees and when they arrived half of them were cold and had to go back. Our waitress was very apologetic and while I know it was a holiday weekend, they have been doing this for years and we have been going for years and it was embarrassing for us since we recommended it and had another family with us
The food was very good - my only minor complaint was that the salmon was over done, a little on the dry side, but the sauce helped with that. Lobster bisque was excellent. Service was good, but dining in the room with the bar was very noisy. I would go back, but ask for the other dining room.
Noisy, tough fillet and slow service
Fantastic all around. Our server was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious! Wonderful experience 😃
Upon recommendation of a friend, four of us went to Engleside for sushi. We ordered 2 appetizers and 6 sushi rolls and some sashimi. The appetizers were barely enough for one person, tiny and expensive. The specialty rolls, at around $14 each, were also small, only 6 pieces. 2 of the sushi rolls, including the blue crab roll and nutty tuna roll, were delivered missing the blue crab and the tuna. When sent back to fix, 15 minutes later we were served the wrong order again. The fix for the nutty tuna roll was to smear spicy tuna on top of remaining 4 pieces of the roll that was sent back. The blue crab roll was delivered piping hot with a mixture of mayo and warm tuna and tasted disgusting. We left most of the fixes uneaten. When I asked for the check, I was told that the manager was taking care of “things”. The check came and everything we ordered was billed at full price. I then told the waiter that nothing was taken care of and finally the bill was adjusted down by 50%. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
Good experience. Waitress forgot to serve my bisque with apps. Had to remind her
Delicious food and wonderful service!! Would definitely go back again!
Everyone’s meal was great except for mine. I had the Prime rib and it was steamed and not medium rare as I am requested. There was no crust on the outside and it was just average. The lobster bisque however was delicious although it was missing chunks of lobster. I like that they serve it with a side of Sherri for you to add yourself. Service wasSuper slow. The waiter said he was doing rooms service so that was the delay. He forgot to bring me a steak knife. I had to ask three times.
great place every time best prime rib excellent bar
Very good food and exceptional service.
We went pre-summer season to check the place out for future visits. We ordered from the early bird menu which was quite varied. The meal included a salad, the entree along with its sides and a choice of several desserts. We chose the Atlantic salmon and broiled seafood combo as entrees and were not disappointed. The portions sizes were perfect and both were delicious. And the seasonal cobbler (strawberry at this time of year) was tasty, not too sweet - a nice end to our meal.
Service was attentive, but we were never rushed. We will definitely bring friends when they visit LBI this summer.
our family of 4 dined at the Engleside Inn on Monday June 17th 2019. We had very nice waitress , it was her first night. I felt really bad for her as you could tell she was nervous and wasn't really getting any help from Management as she became in the weeds. My husband and I ordered 2 glasses of wine and unfortunately , the red wine glass broke, spilled in my meal and stained my white sweatshirt. I felt badly for our waitress, she felt so bad. Over all we had a nice dinner on our vacation. However once i got home my white sweat shirt and white pants are stained with red wine.
Dinner was delicious. We had the filet and twin lobster tails, best meal on the Island. Filet cooked to perfection. Our server Cameron was wonderful , very attentive and friendly. Don’t miss out on the key lime pie.
This was our 40th anniversary dinner. I had noted that in the reservation but there was no acknowledgement by the hostess or server. We couldn’t find a parking spot and ended up waiting for someone to leave and still walking a great distance. The dining room was very dark and not what you would expect at the jersey shore. Our server was Emma she was attentive and polite, but seemed very busy with a lot of tables. We had a seafood angel hair pasta dish which was very good and a salmon which was good but soaked in a heavy bernase sauce and too much for the dish.
There are a lot of great restaurants on lbi and this would not be one I would recommend.
Always a great meal. Sushi is the freshest I’ve had in a long time.
Food was excellent. Room was pretty . The people next to us were so loud and obnoxious that it really wrecked our experience. I would definitely go back and pray they aren’t there !
The food was good but the place is in dire need of updating. Felt like a diner.
The manager was very rude.
Always consistent. Food and service very good
It was wonderful!
