The Engleside Inn, located in Beach Haven, New Jersey, not only provides its guests with excellent lodging, but it also contains the Leeward Room for fine dining. This on-site restaurant has made a name for itself over the years as one of the finest in the Long Beach islands area. There is also a bar in this restaurant within the Engleside Inn where guests can select from an excellent list of wines and liquors.
Premium steaks are a big part of the draw at the Leeward Room at the Engleside Inn. You can find many other examples of fine American cuisine on the menu, such as the scallops encrusted with wasabi or the chicken breast glazed in ginger.
Great food and great service. Noisy due to a large party but still enjoyable meal and evening.
Made reservations and was seated promptly. The staff was very pleasant. The waiter was Rafael and he was extremely helpful in choosing my dinner selection which was Lobster in Francaise sauce with lump crab meat. It was absolutely delicious. Well worth the price. Would not hesitate eating there again.
Bought a Veteran for dinner and we all had a wonderful meal.
Food is consistently delicious. Today’s service was outstanding.
We always have a great dinner at the Engleside.
We had the BEST Prime Rib ever paired with an Austin Hope Cabernet which was fantastic as well.
Our server Doriann was great. Fantastic Service.. Thanks Doriann!!
The manager Chris took care of us...Great table Thanks Chris!
And what else can you say about Drew and Ray the best bartenders in New Jersey...
Looking forward to dining next spring at the Engleside
Bob and Ginny Haines
Love this place even during the off season!
The ambiance of the room is too dark...lightening the colors would be helpful...too much dark green
Service was somewhat slow and food wasn’t as good as I remembered. My flounder francaise didn’t have much flavor and the spinach just seems like it was thrown on the plate right out of the bag. My friends tuna looked over cooked and dry.
Outstanding as Usual
Arrived at 6 PM. Told Christian our waiter that we had tickets for 8 PM show at Surflight and that we would like to be done by 7:30ish. We ordered our dinner a few minutes after arrival.
Food came out much too quickly. Our salads came out within three minutes of ordering. I reminded the waiter at that time to please give us some time between courses to no avail. The entrees literally came out a few minutes after our salads. We sent them back as it was much too quick and we were still enjoying our cocktails (this was now about 6:20).
Needless to say, enjoying a night out is much more than the taste of the food. It is the whole dining experience. This waiter did not understand that even after I reminded him.
Our food was good as usual but our dining experience was awful. In addition to all of this the waiter for the table next to us twice kicked my wife’s chair. We have dined at Engleside many times. This was by far our worst experience there.
Our dining experience was awesome as usual. Our server Rafael was fantastic. He is always on top of things and is so friendly and pleasant. Best server!!!
Hadn’t been there in years! Delicious food & great service. A huge PLUS that they are open year round!
Hostess was rude when we asked if we could sit in the dining room verses the bar area. Told us no instead of asking if we would like to have a drink and a table should open up in x amount of minutes. She took us to the bar table and said this shouldn’t be that noisy. It was people sitting at the bar we’re having a good time. Waitress didn’t follow our request for two checks, didn’t bring us any bread, didn’t bring crackers for the chowder. Never came back to ask if all was well.
The food and ambience were fine. However, our waiter (Rafael) clearly had a very bad cold and should NOT have been working that day. After he sneezed directly over my husband, we all joked that one of us would catch whatever it was. Sure enough, the next day my husband developed a sore throat which turned into a full blown head cold...and guess how got it next? Whatever this is, is highly contagious...I wonder how many other patrons Rafael infected that day?
Appetizer, entrees were excellent. Side salad not so much. Server was great! I suppose low ceilings make it rather noisy plus the fact that last two times we were seated in a corner near large parties. However, an established restaurant and they take reservations.
Amazing service and delicious dinner
We sat in the more formal dining room here. Our waitress was really great...restaurant very accommodating, allowing us to order a smaller portion of a daily special as an appetizer. My son had the Alaskan crab legs and the portion was as generous as any I've seen All our appetizers were good as were meals; lobster tails were slightly overcooked. All entrees came with salads and the lobster and crab dishes came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable...more food than we could finish. My daughters seafood pasta was generously loaded with lobster, shrimp and scallops... a great menu choice.
The hostess (tall older woman) was not very friendly, but our waitress was very nice. The tuna was fantastic!
Ample servings, attractive presentation, but fish cooking techniques were slightly off: no grill marks on the tuna steak, no evidence of broiling on the scallops. On the positive side, they take reservations, the room is quiet and the service was excellent. Our waitress made a quick and un-questioned substitute when I rejected the panko-crusted scallops because they were deep fried.
The food and service were great. However, having all small children screaming while eating dinner made me feel I was sitting in the Holiday Inn restaurant as opposed to a fine dining locale.
I think you need to have a heads up that this is not a calm soothing elegant dining experience.
Great place for a nicer LBI dinner. The sushi is superb and the food is consistently good!
The first night we had dinner at the Engleside we enjoyed it so much we went back the next evening too!
Great meal and our sever Carley was awesome
Food was excellent and we were delighted to get a complete meal with salad, bread, side dish, potato, etc.
Food was okay. It was hard to have a conversation, very loud. I wouldn’t rush back.
Jimmy was absolutely AWESOME!
The food was delicious and our server was great. The only issue we had, being a table of 10, was that we were seated right off the bar. The noise level was high, and the rolling carts in the hotel floor above sounded like rolling thunder. Also, at one point, the room felt like it was vibrating. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time!
We had the surf and turf and the apple caramel cheesecake for desert. Best meal we have had in a long time. The filet mignon and lobster tail melted in your mouth. The sauce was incredible. We loved the grilled vegetables. we actually came back for the desert as we had it at Easter- served with whipped cream and the best strawberries ever. Our waitress was excellent, but they need to put another one on as it was too crowded for one person to handle. Nicely appointed room, but the quality of the food calls us back.
Early bird special is the way to go
Noisy family that could not control "Mikey" were
across the room but could be heard everywhere. Not restaurants fault. parents were idiots. Crab Legs and Lobster Bisque were great
We have been there many times before with groups of friends and other couples. This time, just the two of us for our Anniversary. It was a delicious dinner and a delightful experience!
We love dining at the Engleside. The food is consistently excellent. I especially love the ginger salad dressing. Our entrees are always perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant for an Island treat.
The food portions were huge and very tasty. We made a late redaction to avoid kids but it was insanely noisy. Waiter was nice but never ask the loud table to quite down when he said he would.
Best place in south jersey. Prime rib was outstanding and the bar is excellent
Great and unique frisée salad. Come here just for that and the absolute shrimp.
Our server generously told us that the appetizer salads were giant in case we wanted to split them. We did and it was plenty of food. We enjoyed the Halibut special for dinner. The tuna was also shared by two in our party. A very large piece of fish. The scallops were local and fresh. Consistent high marks for food and service.
Out favorite restaurant on LBI, everything is wonderful!!!
Our family of 10 returned to Engleside Restaurant for a second time during our annual one week vacation on Long Beach Island. I highly recommend the delicious Prime Rib. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. We had the pleasure of being served by Denise. She is a wonderful experienced member of the waitstaff.
Excellent service and delicious food! Will definitely return !
