The food and service were great. The restaurant has a fun vibe but not so loud that you couldn't enjoy the conversation at you own table. (A big plus in my book!) We had Sunday brunch and highly recommend the french toast and the turkey hash. Both were great. Look forward to trying this restaurant again.
Nothing special. Long way to drive for mediocrity.
So delicious! Everything from my “mocktail”, appetizers, entrees, and dessert was delicious. We can’t wait to go back. 😊
Great menu and service. There wasn’t anything that didn’t explode with flavors.
There were 4 of us. We got the chicken thy, muscles, shishito peppers, and salad. It was more than enough food. The broth for the muscles was incredible and by far the standout dish. We were seated right away, the food and drinks came out promptly, the server, James, was friendly and gave great wine pairing suggestions. Thank you and well done!
Wasn't sure what to expect beyond i had seen it and wanted to check out places in my new neighborhood and wow. It was excellent. Pastrami beffcheek, woah. Get it
It has retained the best of its history but it’s refreshed and modern. The menu is exciting and priced very well. The see I’ve was excellent. Wine choice limited but good.
10 out of 10.👍🏾
Loved the vibe and the food was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!!
Love the wait staff! So attentive. The drinks were GREAT! The menu could have used at least one or two vegetarian or vegan options.
The biggest complaint and it’s big. The entrees level of salt was just over the top. We tried four different things and all of them were so salty that they just missed any other flavors. Trout, chicken, risotto, brat all Salted to an extreme amount. The couple at the table next to us said the same thing.
If they can dial back the salt on everything this will be five stars.
Dinner with old friends and everything was perfect. Food was outstanding. Service was great. Highly recommend Encina!
Great food, drinks and ambiance! I was excited to learn that the chef from Bolsa took over ownership, revamped the restaurant and has made it even nicer. I'll be back for sure!
The food was great. One of our diners was vegan and the chief prepared an amazing vegan dish for him. The fish was also very well prepared. Great service.
Delicious food, great service. Seating was close, not bad. Noise was loud and unpleasant with a sub woofer bass rhythm that amplified the bangy clattering acoustics in the former service building.
Could be just Dallas diners expecting an aural experience in addition to eating. Maybe weeknight would be more pleasant!
What a treat!
Our server was great, most people were unmasked, but he was wearing one and that was nice to see. Food was excellent. Cocktails were good but overpriced for what they were.
The food and service were so amazing!
They took the Bolsa menu and took it to a whole new level. Brunch was fabulous. Love that breakfast Flatbread.
We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we started with the Black eye pea Fritters. Very tasty! Then the Beet & Avocado Salad. Again, it was fantastic! I had the Pork Chop and my wife had the Veal Bratwurst. Both great but I think the Bratwurst took 1st place. Very enjoyable evening.
Beef cheek pastrami was a highlight! Great service. Enjoying meeting Chef Matt Balke.
Was unimpressed after all the hype. Service sucked, the waitress kept forgetting things every trip to our table.
Also said we were there for a bday and they didn’t even say anything.
everything was delicious. the ambiance was lovely, but the noise level was too high. it was hard to hear each other.
Took my wife and toddler son. Server couldn’t have been less interested in us. Not sure if it was because we had a child and it was a nicer place, but got the impression they didn’t really want us there. Ate our appetizer and left.
What a special place! Chef Matt has taken the Bolsa (prior restaurant in this space) and elevated. The interior layout looks the same, but every element is nicer and better. The bar is spectacular.
The food has highlights from Bolsa (Salmon rillettes, beef tartare, flatbreads, etc) but also so many new, seasonal additions. The skillet cornbread with whipped feta is unlike anything you have ever had.
Service was friendly and professional. We felt right at home. Highly recommend.
Loved the brunch burger and quiche- delicious! We had a reservation and had to wait but it was worth it.
Our food was very good. It was a Mother’s Day brunch menu which was not their usual but we found items we enjoyed. Everything was super fresh and delivered hot. Our waiter was just ok. He was unfriendly. He didn’t come by very often we had to ask for drink refills overall he just seemed like he didn’t want to be there. If we had had a different waiter I think we would give 5 stars. The hostess was very friendly and on it. I think my neighbors had this same waiter a few days before. I described him and she said yep he was so unfriendly to them as well. On a special occasion when you’re treating someone you like friendly.
We celebrated Mother’s Day at Encina and we’re not disappointed. The food and drinks were incredible! Highly recommend this gem in the Bishop Arts district.
Another amazing meal at our favorite neighborhood spot. Our new tradition for out of town guests is sure to include Brunch at Encina, followed by live music at Reveler's Hall. The brunch burger NEVER disappoints, though we were sad to see a replacement for the house made chips. The chicharrones were good, but it was a little too much for us with the rich/salty burger as well. I love that you guys are always trying new things. :-)
Super cute place and fun menu. Food was excellent, but if you order the burger...ask for a runny egg.
Always the best.
Great food and excellent service. I look forward to my next visit!
Absolutely fantastic. The cocktails delicious and well portioned and great wine list with plenty of reasonably priced but fun bottles. The food blew me away - simple menu but elevated flavors. It is clearly thoughtfully curated to be the greatest hits of the chef and team. Can’t wait to return!
Fabulous restaurant by the same chef of Bolsa in Bolsa’s old space. Has the same edgy, warm heart of Bolsa but updated and fresh. Service was great. The duck was perfect with crisp skin and light spatzle. The skirt steak with English pea mashed potatoes was a generous portion and perfectly charred. The star was the appetizer of pastrami of beef cheek, which was out of this world. The music was the same emo tracks from 5 years ago with some current alt-hits mixed in, which some folks might snub their noses at, but it was pretty much like listening to my playlist on Amazon music so I loved it.
We really enjoyed the patio when it was Bolsa, but unfortunately it has been remodeled and the noise level is HIGH. In fact, we left before dessert because we couldn't talk to each other at all once the patio neared capacity. Food was fair- would not recommend the gnocchi(flavorless) and the goat tacos had tortillas that weren't very good so my friend ate the filling alone. Service was fair. Drinks were good.
Feels a lot like my old favorite Bolsa, in both food and ambience, but a little spiffed up coming out of the pandemic. This restaurant is not "Dallas"....it has a lot more character than "Dallas" restaurants, more laid back and yet sophisticated. Just a great place.
All our dishes were tasty! Staff was friendly
I was so disappointed when Bolsa closed, and now I can rejoice that Encina has taken it's place with a very similar concept. Highly recommend the beet & avocado and field greens salads - outstanding. The twig flatbread never disappoints. Great service and space!
Great brunch experience! The drinks were delicious and the food was awesome. Will definitely be back!
Beat pork chop ever!!!
