About EN Japanese Brasserie
Experience Japanese dining in a beautiful, authentic Japanese restaurant located in the West Village of Manhattan. We offer the rich traditions of Japanese cooking with Chef Abe Hiroki’s modern yet relaxed style of dining centered around a procession of small plates.
We adhere to the fundamentals of Japanese cooking: respecting the ingredients and their natural flavors, cooking in the moment, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves. We have created an extensive menu, featuring dishes as fresh tofu (prepared six times a night), saikyo miso black cod, stone grilled Washugyu and Wagyu steaks, an assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls and three signature EN Kaiseki tasting menus. To compliment your dining experience, we have developed a list of over 80 sakes and 25 shochus as well as carefully crafted signature cocktails and wine list. Polish your meal off with a choice from 27 Japanese whiskies, a lineup that is hard to beat.

EN Japanese Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
The reception area is in a high traffic area so it’s not a very welcoming place. Once you are seated, however, and your waiters are assigned, it becomes a nice experience. The food is really excellent. We had one of the special menus, and it was just too much food. I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy it.
Great food and initially great service, let down by shockingly poor wine recommendation by the 'sommelier' gave the impression that this place was trying too hard to be something it was not and should have stuck with the expertise it clearly holds and does very very well - japanese food.
I have left great reviews for this restaurant in the past but something is going on there. On this evening the waiter knew nothing about the menu or sake. Service was so bad, no one wanted to wait on anyone and you had to hail down different people for different needs and courses. The table next to us had no service for 20 minutes after they sat and when their drinks didn’t come they just got up and left. The food was not the same as the past and sushi rice laughable. I saw yelling in the kitchen. The place seemed in chaos. What a shame.
I was really disappointed. I have been there once before and it was great, this time it wasn't fun and I felt like I over extended my stay the entire dinner... The waitress was snobbish with an attitude that made us all feel uncomfortable. The food was okay, some dishes were good, but others were not and it was all over priced (e.g. $40 for rice with mushrooms). The wagyu beef was served luk warm and was a disappointment.
Came here for a special occasion and was not very impressed. The atmosphere is not like a small Japanese restaurant that I was expecting, it had high ceilings and was very loud.
Food is served way too cold that should be more room temperature.
Overall, the food was tasty and very flavorful, but having to wait almost 15 minutes before eating any dish that was served cold, even the sashimi.
The worst meal both my friend and I have ever had. Terrible food--fusion gone wrong--that made us frown and even gag at times. Neglectful service. Way too pricey. What a waste of money and time. Most disappointing dining experience ever. The restaurant should focus on cooking the food well, not just making it look pretty.
I was so disappointed. I had been to EN a couple of years before and had a great experience. It may have been the fact that our waiter had poor recommendations for us, but overall, it was not a meal you would expect for the money we paid for it.
I would not recommend.
