EN Japanese Brasserie
We adhere to the fundamentals of Japanese cooking: respecting the ingredients and their natural flavors, cooking in the moment, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves. We have created an extensive menu, featuring dishes as fresh tofu (prepared six times a night), saikyo miso black cod, stone grilled Washugyu and Wagyu steaks, an assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls and three signature EN Kaiseki tasting menus. To compliment your dining experience, we have developed a list of over 80 sakes and 36 shochus as well as carefully crafted signature cocktails and wine list. Polish your meal off with a choice from 60 Japanese whiskies, a lineup that is hard to beat.

This was an okay restaurant. The flavors, the food were just "meh" for the most part. Beautiful building and service was very good.
Requested a table for two in the main dining area with our reservation, but was informed upon arrival that tables for two were only offered in the outside anti-room dining area. Lighting was extremely dim in this area, so we used our phones to read the menu. Food was excellent, but we could barely see it. Portions were small prices were high. This was our second visit, and probably our last.
great food and service
Amazing omakase. Very authentic, inventive and fresh. If you're looking for standard, American-style Japanese, don't come here. It's too good for that.
Excellent service. Restaurant decor is outstanding as well. Did not expect the whole experience to be so good.
And they also have a large selection of vegan dishes, including an entire vegan omakase, which my friend greatly appreciated.
Seems no corners were cut. Will definitely come back.
Excellent restaurant. Great for friends and family.
We had to wait 20 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. Food was so so this time
Brother came to town
Great food and amazing presentation. The entire staff was friendly and quick to serve us and answer any requests.
This restaurant is one of my favorites, great, fresh Japanese food and the service is always wonderful.
We have heard an asian waitress was laughing at my friend’s accent and she was embarrassed when my friend went to choose a sake.
Delicious food, beautiful place. I had a great time and would highly recommend the miso black cod.
Like the fish soup
Most of my friends are not interested in places that are so upscale / expensive / pretentious. They want to have good food, reasonable ambiance, and good company, without all the hype.
Pretty average food and server was pushy to get more orders from our table. Ambiance is good but food not so much
Ambience, service, food all superb. Expensive but worth it.
Food was great and service was awesome. Very attentive and nice staff members.
Always wonderful, En was also able to move us smoothly through their multi-course prix fixe in time for us to make the performance we were seeing. It was fantastic! We will return to do it again when we can do it at a more relaxed pace.
Don’t order their kaiseki tasting menu, period.
service was not good
we have been going to en for years - probably since it first opened. the prices have gone up and the portions are smaller, but we continue to come because it is a unique space in ny and our guests always enjoy the meal. however this time the server just HOVERED over us, you put a dish down and he whisks it away before you get a chance to finish the condiments on it, put a glass down and he fills it to the brim with water. continually kept saying are you finished can I clear...we were a party of 5 having the large tuna spine that was a table share plus at least 10 other dishes that were to arrive - so LARGE bill. but he kept pushing for us to finish so he could bring the next dish SO ANNOYING and a definite F grade for courtesy and service. it began to hamper our conversation and patience especially since we have out of town guests.
Can’t describe - just awesome!
Fantastic, as always. Consistent quality, great sake menu, true NYC gem!
As usual. One of my favorites
I've been going to EN occasionally for over a decade. The food is excellent...and the front room is a perfect venue to meet someone for a drink and a light bite.
My critical issue with EN is the outrageously overpriced drinks. A 5-oz pour of middling Burgundy shouldn't cost $24...and the sakes are likewise overpriced for their serving size. I'm a lifelong Manhattan resident, and as a single person dine out every night. But even by fine dining standard the value is poor. EN is sadly never on my regular Japanese rotation for this reason...unless my meeting needs to be in the Hudson St. area.
The food isn't good. Service is ok. It doesn't have an atmosphere and crowd justifying the level of prices.
So good. I will definitely come back here. Thanks
Everything was terrific with one exception - the price!
The waiter pours sparkling water into my still water glass.
a beautiful interior, lovely service and exquisite food....what more can anyone ask for??
Japanese at its finest!
I came here for dinner with a visiting friend. The food was good and particularly enjoyed the warm freshly made tofu. The meal however was not as good as when I came here for lunch previously. I did not feel it was good value for money ($20 for average tempura). Dessert could also have been better if the hojicha panna cotta did not have so much strawberry compote on it. That said, our server was very friendly and nice!
Love the sake flights, Kitaya and Fukuomachi taste great
The food was terrible. The most delicious thing on the table was plane miso soup. And we ordered a lot from the menu. Do not recommend this restaurant.
I love this place, but the service this evening was particularly exceptional! Food is always delicious, and it’s a very sexy vibe. Love it!
The waiter was no where to be found and we had to constantly ask other waiters to help us with orders etc totally spaced out
The food is not as carefully prepared as before , and the price has gone up
And it is very noisy
Always an amazing experience: the unique and not the same old Japanese food and the stunning decor. Especially lovely at lunchtime when it is very tranquil.
Enjoyed this Japanese type bistro when celebrating my birthday. Loved the jazz duo in the corner of the restaurant playing soothing smooth jazz. The chairs are by far the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in while dining.
The food here is very good and we had nothing to complain about. Miso cod is an excellent choice. We shared a few appetizers that we really enjoyed. Even went for the Wagyu as an entree option. I’d skip the wagyu next time as I wasn’t impressed with what I got for 80$, but certainly a very nice piece of meat. Desserts were killer too. Had the trio of chocolate. Very good.
