EN Japanese Brasserie
We adhere to the fundamentals of Japanese cooking: respecting the ingredients and their natural flavors, cooking in the moment, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves. We have created an extensive menu, featuring dishes as fresh tofu (prepared six times a night), saikyo miso black cod, stone grilled Washugyu and Wagyu steaks, an assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls and three signature EN Kaiseki tasting menus. To compliment your dining experience, we have developed a list of over 80 sakes and 36 shochus as well as carefully crafted signature cocktails and wine list. Polish your meal off with a choice from 60 Japanese whiskies, a lineup that is hard to beat.

We arrived excited with a reservation for our wedding anniversary, prepared for a lovely dinner. I am gluten intolerant, and I specified this on the reservation a week ahead of time. My husband is not.
First the waiter told me nothing on their tasting menu was gluten free. Then he told my husband he couldn’t order the tasting menu either because it’s for two.
The waiter goes to speak to the chef who accommodates a half portion for my husband, and directs me to a few offerings that I could have.
I was done eating my few things quickly as they never brought our courses at the same times, and as my husband’s tasting menu arrived, it became clear that every course was clearly gluten free. (I specified that soy sauce wasn’t an issue.)
So my husband had his tasting menu for one, I had tough yellowtail sushi, another roll which inexplicably had raw okra in it which made for a slimy experience, and a filet of cod that was also soft, slimy and unpleasant. Everything had the same texture. My husband’s tasting menu had the same squishy custard porridge with several courses, and we generally weren’t impressed.
Then they brought us free champagne for our anniversary while my husband ate his miniature dessert and they didn’t even offer me a dessert menu.
The whole thing was over $350 and was mediocre at best. Also they charged us for still water and served the table next to us free tap water. Whatever. A crappy experience.
Everything we had was delicious. Black cod and garlic fried rice were my fav. Service was great! Beautiful restaurant
Great experience with good cocktails, meticulously prepared dishes, and a vibe that’s elegant and fun at the same time. A bit expensive but it’s within reason considering the quality of everything.
It was an awesome experience!!!!!!! The food is simply amazing!
Disorganized, sloppy service. Food was good, not great. I had been to EN a year ago and it was delicious and the service was wonderful. This time, we had to ask for service repeatedly; dishes were missed; wait staff looked at us and turned away. Very disappointing experience.
Fantastic service, great food, very fun... and even larger portions than i remember... just too bad there is no unfiltered sake anymore
Avg food. Excellent ambience. Rudest receptionist ever seem :)
Met a friend there for dinner last night that I haven't seen in over 3 years and we had a great time! Great food and great ambiance.
Come for the vibe, but not the food. Overpriced, subpar food and splotchy service. Great location and ambiance. Would go elsewhere for Japanese food next time.
Always a delight to eat here.
Our server was completely unhelpful in providing any direction or recommendations. When we asked for help with the menu he simply read back the printed menu description. Ordered an item that was clearly a 1-bite single portion that would have been nice to point out. Screwed up our wine order and had to approach the bar to correct the issue after trying to explain what he brought was not what was ordered. Food was good but overall experience really diminished due to abysmal service.
We had a remarkable experience as we celebrated my husband's birthday! The service staff was amazing. The food was incredible.
Food was both authentic and delicious and had individual style. Servers were warm and helpful. The kitchen was slow.
Fantastic dining experience for a special and/or different dining occasion.
Food was exquisite! Everything was delicious and served with unique display. Only thing that could have been better was the service- the service was no where near the quality of food. i.T was our first time, and no one even explained Rodin concept out right in front of us. Difficult to get waiter every time never even asked us for a drink order. Everything was exceptional but service. They also did not congratulate the engagement a single time that was specifically noted making the reservation.
Better than ever
I don't know what language the waiters are speaking but they seem engrossed in their own conversations instead of working. The Japanese waiters that you use to have were more efficient and on their toes.
I had to wait between each meal for a long time. I also had to wave down two waiters to take away my dishes away after each course and finally bringing me the dessert menu and my check took forever. This was all on a night where the tables were less than half empty on a Sunday night. I loved the sashimi, eggplant dish, rice/ shiso, kinako dessert but after this experience, I will try another restaurant next time.
We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We sat at the counter and it was a lovely experience. We have chefs menu and loved everything about it. We also gifted a lovely dessert to celebrate with. Overall excellent experience and we will be returning
Great food wonderful ambience and attentive service
The food wasn’t as amazing as the reviews made it sound… we had the fried chicken and honestly, it tasted just like Popeyes 🤕. The sushi was good but I was expecting better.
Food was great as usual but service outside could be better. The drinks too forever to arrive - and it’s too bad because if they had been faster, we would have fit in another round! All in all I love this restaurant though, and would highly recommend. The outside ambiance is really lovely too!
Great as always
Lunch menu is not enough
One of my favorite places in the city. I do miss some of their old menu items, and would take the tonkatsu tuna off the menu, it was too greasy.
Very enjoyable dinner. Fresh ingredients and proper preparation.
Amazing experience —- as always. Exquisite food with the best service. Edgar’s service is always so meticulous. This is one of my favorite restaurants due to the full experience.
Delicious food, beautiful place! Loved the Seabreeze cocktail.
EN is a very nice restaurant. Just note that brunch menu is limited.
Always an amazing experience - food and service excellent
Can’t wait to get back there again
This is the perfect example of how a restaurant is much more than the food it serves. It is about the experience! If you like Japanese food it is a good place and it is full of Japanese people (so you know it is close to food from home). Sadly that is it.
The waiters we had were probably the worst we experience in the US. Not knowledgeable at all, not worried about service, they were there just to throw the food at you and pick up the plate (and the of course suggesting an 18% tip minimum)
Again, the food is really good but the experience was the worst by far in a restaurant of that level. We did the tasting menu and the waiters did not even know what was on the plate or in which order to eat it, example “this is the last course of the menu… sushi!
We dined outside, and we treated to a beautiful, well-paced meal of gorgeous food, from sushi and sashimi, to wagyu beef and lobster. Divine from start to finish. Especially with the sake pairing…
Wonderful dining experience!
Quiet and lovely on the patio. I had never heard of this restaurant and it exceeded my expectations. A special experience!
I’m such a huge fan of En Brasserie which is why my experience was so especially disappointing. We had two orders of fried chicken but only one arrived, the second 20 minutes later with no apology or explanation. The worst was that the serving was three tiny oily, soggy pieces of chicken which were mostly fat. Honestly McNuggets would have been much better. I almost couldn’t believe it was the same restaurant where I had once had the best fried chicken in my life.
A truly disappointing experience, the manager said they were going through a “culinary transition” and comped two beers after extensive complaints. With the exception of one waiter nobody really seemed to care that the experience was so bad and the feeling you got was that they were just wanted us to disappear.
Sad fall from great heights for this once formidable establishment
Forever one of my favorite places for elevated homestyle Japanese cuisine in NYC. The combination of atmosphere with flavor and an incredible sake menu makes any lover of aesthetics, good food, and drink very happy. I prefer dinner to brunch here but both are worth the visit. I love choice and sharing dishes so dinner is a better option, but the brunch bento offers a nice selection of delicious small portions that will make you want to return for the full menu. Service is excellent. Ingredient quality is very high. If your dinner companions have never been they will be impressed with your amazing taste in restaurants. Just go!
Muy buen lugar. Tranquilo y elegante
Comida Japonesa tradicional, no esperes sushi y tepanyaki
Great birthday experience! Very friendly staff.
Great!! Food lovely, outdoor seating perfect. It was great!
