EN Japanese Brasserie
We adhere to the fundamentals of Japanese cooking: respecting the ingredients and their natural flavors, cooking in the moment, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves. We have created an extensive menu, featuring dishes as fresh tofu (prepared six times a night), saikyo miso black cod, stone grilled Washugyu and Wagyu steaks, an assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls and three signature EN Kaiseki tasting menus. To compliment your dining experience, we have developed a list of over 80 sakes and 36 shochus as well as carefully crafted signature cocktails and wine list. Polish your meal off with a choice from 60 Japanese whiskies, a lineup that is hard to beat.

Great experience. I have been coming to EN brasserie for the past 10 years. It never disappoints me!
J’avais réservé une table dans ce restaurant bien avant mes vacances à New York mais lorsque que je suis arrivée il était fermé et je n’ai reçu aucune explication ni message pour me prévenir.
The experience was never had because the restaurant was closed when we arrived. It embarrassing to say the least. We were never contacted by the restaurant or Open Table. In fact, I was asked to confirm our reservation multiple times before our arrival.
The restaurant was closed and did not informed me that my reservation was canceled!! Really poor behavior. Shame on open table as well
No one contacted us to inform us that the restaurant was closed. Could have saved us a trip into Manhattan and could have given us time to make a reservation elsewhere. Very poor service
Fantastic service, beautiful decor and every plate was a delicious adventure.
We have been eating their new brunch menu since September and noticed that they changed bento box, fried rice gone, smaller miso cod portion and got rid of the tonkatsu and replaced it with 1 tiny fried meatball? Please go back to the original portion and selection. We always bring people with us and love coming on weekends. We'd hate to stop coming. We are creatures of habit and love supporting restaurants we love like EN!
So I was underwhelmed. First date and had a reservation and they sat us at a group type table and I asked for something cozy and quiet. Eventually we got moved to a normal table.
We ordered drinks and I’m a bourbon drinker and they didn’t have Woodford or Bulleit- two of the biggest names in bourbon but they offered me Makers mark which you can get at Chilis! My date ordered a martini and they had no top shelf vodka. They wanted to use Tito’s which she doesn’t like so that was a sign that they aren’t carrying decent alcohol this makes me nervous with the food.
The sashimi was mediocre at best and nothing you can’t get in any sushi place.
Service horrible and I think we had different waiters all night so there was no memory of what we were drinking or any attention. I had to go searching for them to get water and our appetizers started.
For this level of food, you guys should seriously think about carrying better alcohol and having your servers pay more attention to the clients.
It was fine, consistent with all prior visits
Food is always good but the pacing of the dishes this time was very slow and sporadic. Given that dishes are small and usually shared, bringing one dish at a time with long breaks in between made this a less pleasant experience.
This has become a favorite place to go. Met an old friend. We had a quiet table and were able to talk for hours. Perfect evening.
Incredible service and delicious food.
Outstanding in all ways!
Horrible service but worse food
Sublime. Quiet, and delicious food. Tofu, Black Sea bass…
The dining is elegant. The food is cooked to perfection. The zen-like ambience calms the body and the soul. Be courageous and try something you have never had before, and top it off with ginger tea!
The Food was prepared well. The chicken was made super fresh and the steak melts in your mouth beautifully. I love the food and I would love to come back for the best sushi and best ice cream
If you’re looking for a nice date night restaurant where you’d like to spend a lot and not eat much, this is your place! The food was good, but severely lacking in quantity for the price.
Fantastic. Amazing food and service. Best Japanese restaurant any of have been in the city.
Food is always amazing. Service attentive, especially the busboys! Will come back here time after time
delicious food; stellar service - always such a wonderful meal/experience
Great night. Great service- from the reservationists/maitre d’ who helped out with my reservation (I’d messed up), to the waiters (attentive and helpful- esp re: our 7 year old guest), to the amazing food. And to decor and table settings. Not your typical Japanese food (to my limited exp). Highly recommended.
Although the food we ordered, and the service, was as usual excellent, the menu choices for brunch were so limited that I will not be returning. The dinner menu luckily still has so many of my favorites that I would certainly consider EN for dinner, but for brunch, absolutely NOT.
The brunch menu literally had "one" main choice, with a vegan option as well, and literally 5 other a la carte options, but even that included side dishes.
I had recommended EN for a brunch with friends, but withdrew my recommendation.
I was so, so disappointed.
Waitstaff was harried; three of the original seven dishes we ordered were unavailable, as were the two sakes we wanted by the bottle, although they were happy to sell them by the glass. Most of the food was tasty, although the seasonal vegetable dish ( Brussels sprouts) were uninterestingly bland, and at $10 for 3 sprouts cut in half to make 6 pieces, it was quite insulting.
Food was good, but service was better. The wait staff at the bar and restaurant both were well trained and very pleasant. Receptionists were kind. We had a very good time. It was always my favorite restaurant and it will be again.
It’s disappointing that at that at the level of pricing they are charging and the level of service usually associated with that price point, the service is not existent and not costumer focused AT ALL. This day and age where restaurants suffered with Covid they have a chance to work hard to make sure that the customers will want to come back and support them. This place through its actions makes sure that people like me will not want to come back, again especially at their price point .
The food wasn’t particularly good over the service was great he ambience was nice I was just kind of blah
The quality of the food was severely disappointing. The quality has deteriorated. While the variety of izakaya dishes remain interesting on the menu, the food leaves a lot to be desired. The sushi was surprisingly weak. Overall, for the prices, it was shocking value.
We arrived excited with a reservation for our wedding anniversary, prepared for a lovely dinner. I am gluten intolerant, and I specified this on the reservation a week ahead of time. My husband is not.
First the waiter told me nothing on their tasting menu was gluten free. Then he told my husband he couldn’t order the tasting menu either because it’s for two.
The waiter goes to speak to the chef who accommodates a half portion for my husband, and directs me to a few offerings that I could have.
I was done eating my few things quickly as they never brought our courses at the same times, and as my husband’s tasting menu arrived, it became clear that every course was clearly gluten free. (I specified that soy sauce wasn’t an issue.)
So my husband had his tasting menu for one, I had tough yellowtail sushi, another roll which inexplicably had raw okra in it which made for a slimy experience, and a filet of cod that was also soft, slimy and unpleasant. Everything had the same texture. My husband’s tasting menu had the same squishy custard porridge with several courses, and we generally weren’t impressed.
Then they brought us free champagne for our anniversary while my husband ate his miniature dessert and they didn’t even offer me a dessert menu.
The whole thing was over $350 and was mediocre at best. Also they charged us for still water and served the table next to us free tap water. Whatever. A crappy experience.
Everything we had was delicious. Black cod and garlic fried rice were my fav. Service was great! Beautiful restaurant
Great experience with good cocktails, meticulously prepared dishes, and a vibe that’s elegant and fun at the same time. A bit expensive but it’s within reason considering the quality of everything.
It was an awesome experience!!!!!!! The food is simply amazing!
Disorganized, sloppy service. Food was good, not great. I had been to EN a year ago and it was delicious and the service was wonderful. This time, we had to ask for service repeatedly; dishes were missed; wait staff looked at us and turned away. Very disappointing experience.
Fantastic service, great food, very fun... and even larger portions than i remember... just too bad there is no unfiltered sake anymore
Avg food. Excellent ambience. Rudest receptionist ever seem :)
Met a friend there for dinner last night that I haven't seen in over 3 years and we had a great time! Great food and great ambiance.
We went for my boyfriends birthday. I told them it was his birthday and the host made sure they would bring something. The server was very short with us and did not know the menu well at all. It felt like they forgot his birthday when they brought two shots after we had already paid.
Come for the vibe, but not the food. Overpriced, subpar food and splotchy service. Great location and ambiance. Would go elsewhere for Japanese food next time.
