En Fuego Cantina and Grill
En Fuego Cantina and Grill has an expansive menu with classic favorites like guacamole and chips, nachos, fajitas and enchiladas. Try one of the house specials like the chile rellenos, a traditional recipe, with battered and stuffed Anaheim chiles topped with tamatillo sauce and a three-cheese blend.
Victor our server was fantastic! Highly recommend combo number 6
Came in at just before 6pm it wasn’t busy but rapidly filled up in the next half hour. Met friends and enjoyed a lovely time the food was good and the atmosphere was really nice I love the outdoor ambiance. The only issue was the waitress was in a hurry to leave at the urging of management so she rushed the check a bit. I would suggest implementing a system so the next shift can finish up.
The drinks were terrible. They’re a Mexican cantina but couldn’t even make a margarita. They charge $14 for a watered down flavorless drink. Chips and salad were very good. Fajitas were average, nothing special. Everything was mediocre at best. Would not return.
Both wife and I like Mexican food. I had tamales and would have preferred it in husk with my decision what to add- spicy sauce /salsa ,sour cream, chopped tomatoes, etc. it came buried under all of the above and too spicy.
Wife had 2 Tacos- same result too spicy
Overall great Mexican dinner with plenty of options on the menu. Great spot for those out of town visitors that don’t know the area, can’t go wrong. Nicely priced menu, both food and drinks.
We have been there many times and this night was especially nice because it was quieter (tourists are leaving) and the service was excellent and food was good as always!
Great place, casual, good ambiance, relaxing, cute bar downstairs with pink bougainvillea all around!
Always a fun vibe, especially Sunday summer nights with Jimmy and Enrique!
The music was so loud it was impossible to have a conversation. We were seated and ignored for at least 10 minutes. The waiter never checked on us again after our food was brought out. Food was mediocre and order was wrong. Would not return.
Great service and great food. Live music was a plus
Long wait times and two of our orders came out incorrect
Our waiter was great the margaritas were delicious and my sea food enchiladas were amazing!!!
I really don’t like to write negative reviews on social media but I can’t in good conscience give this place any more stars than I have. While our waitress was pleasant and friendly she really just couldn’t deal with the work. My wife had nachos and it look like they just dumped A can of black olives on top of them. I had enchiladas with shredded beef the beef was awful and the enchiladas were under done. I wasn’t even sure I was going to hold food down for the evening. The frozen margaritas were basic A can of black olives on top of them. I had enchiladas with shredded beef the beef was awful and the enchiladas were under done. I wasn’t even sure I was going to hold the food down for the evening. The frozen margaritas were not that frozen And the mix was watery. I ordered a second Herradura margarita straight up. First the waitress brought a shot of Herradura which I returned. Then she brought what I assume was Herradura and margarita mix in a rocks glass without rocks. It was warm. I sent it back also. When we asked for a check having already waited about 15 minutes we reminded the waitress and it still took another five or so to get it. Again I reiterate she tried very hard but just was incompetent. Poorly managed and probably the worst Mexican meal I’ve ever eaten.
Wonderful Taco Tuesday, they really put tequila in their shaker margaritas!
Great place to hang out! Live music in the cantina. Margaritas are about a 7.5 out of 10 - food is good - salsa is good - queso fundido is also good!
We will definitely go hang out there again!
Poor quality food and abysmal service. Because our party wasn’t drinking alcohol and because there were kids in my party, we received much less attention than I would have expected. The food came out in a timely fashion, however the quality of the dishes was well below what I expected. Furthermore, the server totally forgot to put in my kids’ dessert orders and when I questioned him about it he quickly tried to cover up for himself and said that he was still waiting for the order. I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone. I will never return. Great location but horrible restaurant.
I love the Sunday-evening music of Jimmy & Enrique.
Food was delicious and service was good. Great margarita!
Great service, super cool ambiance, and delicious food. Just what we were looking for in a Mexican restaurant
This is one of our family favorites. My picky parents were in town and we knew they would love it, and they did! My even pickier 4 year old son also loves the bean burrito. Service is awesome and everyone is kind! This will always be one of our go-to restaurants.
We felt like the drinks were very watered down. We had margaritas and they had a lot of lime juice and very little tequila. Gave us acid reflux!🤮 We felt like we got ripped off on the drinks. The food was good, though and they had a nice singer for entertainment.
We love going there on Wednesday nights and listening to the musicians playing. It is wonderful. But the food is marginal. Drinks are good, though.
The host did a horrible job and service is absolutely horrible. They always seemed to be rushing and messed up our order. Food was good and there is a very fun ambiance.
Fried calamari was actually “calamari steak” .... thick and chewy not very good at all! Had carnitas enchiladas.... not great. Mostly sauce and not a lot of substance. Prob wouldn’t go back TBH
I had reservations but definitely did not need them. The place was pretty empty. We sat in the bar section outside and waited about 20 minutes before we were able to flag down a bus boy and he sent someone over to take our drink order even though we never received a drink menu. I had also asked the hostess to turn on the heater and she said someone would do it, but no one ever did. We hastily ordered skinny margaritas and they just were not good. We ordered our food at the same time because we were afraid that they would never come back to take our order. Food came out about 7 minutes after we placed our order so it made me think it was already prepared. I had shrimp tacos and the shrimp was tough. We finished our food and drinks and waited another 20 minutes for someone to check on us and we asked for the check. Once we got our check it took another ten minutes for someone to pick it up and another ten minutes to return it, also the place was pretty empty, definitely NOT busy. A couple sat down next to us and they eventually leaned over to our table to ask us how to order because they thought they might need to go up to the bar to order because no one had been to serve them. Poor service and ok food. I typically love en Fuego, so I’m hoping this was just an off night for them.
Great food! Service was excellent and beautiful location.
It was my first visit to En Fuego though I'd lived in the area for years. I was meeting old friends to catch up and we were seated where there were few tables and welcome quiet. The food was a great surprise since we are all Mexican food aficionados. Two of us had the Special of Crab and Shrimp Enchiladas. It was an unfortunate choice since when we have a return visit, it will be hard to try anything else. They were literally crammed with seafood and covered in a smooth and creamy sauce verde. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Our server was charming. We loved he rustic decor. Definitely coming back!
Bunch of friends
Always fun! Choose downstairs if you want to have a conversation, upstairs if you want to party.
Nice blackened swordfish taco for me and wife had a really good shrimp entree. Had a view of the water from the right seats (ours was one of them). The bar looks fun, but we sat on the deck.
Super yummy. Nice ambiance. Quick and friendly service.
Great food ,service and entertainment. I enjoyed swordfish tacos which were very fresh. Guacamole fantastic.
We were unaware that the music would begin at 7. We were upstairs but the bar was directly below us. Music was fun but we were not there for that.
The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff was very helpful! The drinks were also great and exactly what we asked for! The food was good/ok.
We discovered this place on a trip to SD area two years ago and fell in love. We had to come back again and it did not disappoint! Amazing food, amazing service — we are still talking about it days later. Can’t wait to fly back and eat there again.
Taco Tuesday- great variety to choose from.
Great little spot in Del Mar. Interesting layout in that you enter from the street upstairs but downstairs if you park in the back alley. Semi outdoor it covered seating made for a unique experience. Food selection was ample, and the staff was attentive. We had friends from San Jose in to6so this was a great place to take them for some local culture!
our server was delightful. but the food was greasy, table dirty, linens dirty, silverware dirty. too bad, a great location
Great food and service, in a nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Awesome, thanks guys - and great music choice too :)
