Lovely service, good wine selection, porterhouse was well prepared. A great meal!
I enjoyed dinner at Empire, my husband and I shared the porterhouse for two and it was delicious. The sides were yummy and service was impeccable. Good wine and cognac finished the evening perfectly. I has to pass on the dessert.
All was excellent!
Wonderful, attentive service. Steaks melt in the mouth. Very enjoyable.
My plate was dirty , shrimp over cooked and lettuce was brown. Inexcusable for such an expensive restaurant.
The food was just okay. We got the prix fix theater menu which was an excellent value. However, I ordered a crap cake appetizer which was $20.00 for the smallest crab cake I have ever seen. i have lived in NY all of my life so I am used to the prices, however, this was a bit much. I think it is because they are between two hotels and they are used to a lot of tourists. Shame on me for not realizing that. I have been to this restaurant for business lunches and the service has been much better. It did not hurt that they sat my husband and I next to a table of 10 tourists, which were a bit loud.
Friendly staff greeted us warmly at the door. Great bar for pre dinner drinks. The food and service were both excellent. The steak I had was perfectly prepared and beautifully served. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and have all intentions of returning again in the future.
We have frequented this restaurant many times. The food is always excellent. Our family members had : salmon, filet ,sirloin steaks and shrimp scampi . All were delicious
My concern with this establishment is that they advertise on line a wonderful Pre-fix Theater Dinner menu but when you ask to order from it the waiter tells you he has to check with his supervisor if he can give it to us. This happens each time we go. We are given the menu but it differs from the one presented on line. When families are in NYC for dinner and a show it becomes costly. Pre- fix menus are a blessing. The issue should be addressed.
Equally upsetting is the fact that I did not receive my 1,000 points for booking early! Where or how do I get this resolved?
Late nights for after show. Delicious
i had lobster tail.. was very chewy and had no taste. friends had steak... very fatty.
broccoli was delicious. desert was good.
Excelent restaurant, the service was very nice. The New York Sirloin was superb!
Extremely disappointing on every level-
I have been to this place a half a dozen times or so since it opened up, but have not been recently. While in the past it was never spectacular, it was always a solid "go to" place in the neighborhood. Today I came with a rather larger party and had a particularly unpleasant experience, that was from my perspective, inexcusable.
Hostess - inept
Atmosphere - terrible
(place was totally empty at 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon with bad music playing loudly)
Wait staff - extremely slow, forgetful, & completely inattentive.
Food - mediocre quality, poorly prepared
Pricing - ridiculously high for what they are offering
I'll never go back.
Food was good , service was superb but the bar could use some improvements. First steakhouse that have been to in a while where they couldn't make a decent martini
We shared A most excellent tomato salad then porterhouse for two cooked to perfection as we had ask for rare. We took home almost half! Shared a hugh baked potato. My concern is that the restaurant was almost empty. I hope they can stay in business. They are on a street with 3 hotels. I hope the management does PR with the concierges. Service was attentive and efficient.
Food was Good BUT.......
We arrived for a pre-theatre dinner on a Wednesday specifically due to their PRe-fix Menu found on open table. When we arrived, we were greeted and taken to our table however they did not even mention the Prefix Menu at any time and only provided the Full Menu. We had to ask specifically for the PRe-fix menu and the waiter seemed hesitant to provide stating the "you know the portions are smaller" which we found odd.
THe Lentil Soup was Amazing as was the 6oz Filet.
Overall the food was incredible, but they need to know there clientle and provide all options they have during pre theatre times as it felt like we were being shaken down to order off of the full menu which hurt an otherwise excellent meal.
Great Service. Food somewhat above average. Stay away from fish
Empire was exactly as it appears, a special occasion destination with high quality food and excellent service. The steaks were amazing,. The truffle Mac and cheese was delicious. The creamed spinach was quite yummy. This resturant was very expensive for us, but worth every penny. Quite good!
Porter house for 2 was delicious-
This was hands down the best meal we had while we were in NYC. Our server, Rob, was wonderfully attentive. When I requested a 1/2 bottle of wine they didn't have in stock, the manager, Ramsey, came out with a substitution. And also a special glass of red wine later in the meal. This was our final meal and we wanted to celebrate a great trip for my mom and her friend's birthdays. We all got filet and/or lobster. Everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. It was the best lobster I've had in recent memory. Our meal was leisurely and enjoyable. We didn't feel like we were rushed or hurried, as can so often be the case in this city. I would definitely go out of my way to return here when in NYC.
Ben was our waiter and all the extended staff were very attentive but not pushy. Although this is a steak restaurant; because it was a Friday in Lent, we opted for the delicious seafood offerings. We shared a cold and a hot seafood medley and they were delicious. These were appetizers but plenty for us to share as our mains. We just topped it with a Burrata and cherry tomato salad. They also make a great Aperol Spritz! We will be back again.
Best food I have ever had in the city, my husband and I have different It’s food and they were 100% delicious
Great service and excellent food. The waiter offered suggestions, all of which we enjoyed.
needs noise deadening material very noisy to conduct a business meeting..
We have frequented Empire Steak House many times. The food is always superb. Our family is always with us , with that said, the pre Fix Theatre Menu is always preferable. The meals we selected were: salmon, shrimp and filet Mignon.
They were all delicious. We then enjoyed chocolate mousse for dessert.
Looking forward to our next meal!
Went before the theater. Nice restaurant, lots of tablets but did not feel crowded or noisy; it actually felt like the four of us were the only patrons. We picked from the pre-fixe dinner options, added oysters, crab and some great cocktails .Appetizers were loved by all, steaks Were perfectly done. The staff was attentive; the manager stopped by to say hello. With desserts and coffee, we were served the digestif of our choices compliments of the house. Wonderful setting for a memorable evening.
The food was incredible. Pricey but worth the money. Very nice hosts and wait staff. Was definitely treated like a 5 star customer.
Steak was not fresh. We had to wait for a while to get it. Waiter dropped food and did not want to let us know that happened until we asked for. Service was good. I think I had better steak in other places. My brother didn't like at all. Sorry to say.
The place was nice and pleasant, the food was to die for we had a great time
We had a very good meal for lunch. Service was excellent. Recommendations made by the waiter proved to excellent choices. We were never rushed. All six of us had a very enjoyable meal.
The filet mignon was fatty. I have had better at other restaurants. Filet mignon should never be fatty. The rest of the meal was good, as was the service.
We went for Restaurant week. The food was excellent. Ordered the Rid Eye and it was delicious and OMG, their Chocolate Mousse cake was heaven. Definitely would go back!
Steaks were all over cooked. Service was slow even when restaurant was not busy. Cheesecake tasted like it came from a roadside diner in Iowa , a sin for New York City.
We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious. The waiters were friendly. What a hidden gem!
It is a $$ restaurant in Google map. We came during the restaurant week. Soup, sirloin and ice-cream were all good. Plating was quite simple, but taste was good.
Service not good.
You could tell the servers were annoyed that it was restaurant week. They judged everything we ordered and rarely checked on us. The food was alright, but I've had better. I did end up getting ill after the meal. Another thing to note is that the restaurant doesn't have bathrooms. You have to use the hotel bathroom located in the lobby. There's only ONE stall, which is ridiculous considering the restaurant was packed. There's a second bathroom located in the bottom level of the hotel. What a mess. I don't recommend.
I’ve been coming to Empire for years. The West location is always energetic and where I go with friends and I food is exceptional. The staff is amazing. I love the East location as well. It’s more quiet, so usually come for a more romantic evening or business outing.
I went for the Restaurant Week dinner and was very pleased with the choices and quality of the food. It is a beautiful restaurant and would definitely go back again.
We had an hour and the staff was very accommodating
Overall, dinner was great. Room felt crowded, service team was very good. Appetizer came out late, think I was forgotten. Everyone profusely apologized.
