We had the "quick lunch" and because there was some issue (perhaps with the delivery) for the included green salad, they offered us a Caesar Salad or Caprese, which was GREAT! Filet Mignons were done to perfection, cooked exactly as requested, and were delicious. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
Great food and amazing staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their steak and wines. One of our servers, Daniel, was so attentive, funny and made our whole experience so much better. Thanks again for the awesome service!
Very good food but a little pricey even for mid-town NYC. Service was good but rushed from the time we walked in until we left. A $200+ dinner for 2 should not be rushed. Plenty of steakhouses in the city to try so will probably try somewhere else next visit.
My husband and I had dinner this past Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We ordered the Porterhouse for two. It was cooked to perfection! We also ordered the German potatoes which were delicious and broccoli, also cooked perfectly. We would recommend this steakhouse wholeheartedly. Their prices were very reasonable for a NY restaurant.
As far as steak houses go, there are better ones. Food was ok - not spectacular. Waiter tried, but has not been shown the basics, like how to decant wine properly.
We enjoyed every moment of our dinner. The food was super delicious, excellent service, very friendly staff and nice ambiance
Best steak I have enjoyed in awhile! Service and attention was excellent.
Awful choice for New Years Eve. Emperor steak had more sodium than saltwater. Blasting music after multiple tables asked for it to be turned down. Quality of meat chewy and charred. Ambiance looked like a banquet hall.
We had a delightful dinner with our party of 5. Our waiter was attentive and funny, but not overbearing. Our food was outstanding. The steaks and sea bass were especially good. A thumbs up to their French onion soup as well. We will definitely go back the next time we visit NYC
Took my girl here for our anniversary. It was very casual when we walked in. Hostess are kinda just there to look cute. Didn't seat us or anything. I was worried it would be too casual. Then we sat down though, and our waiter was above and beyond in every way. Great service all around, helpful with the menu, cordial, and attentive. Food was OD good. One of the best steaks I ever had, and I had the second or third cheapest one. At the end they gave us free creme brulee with the words happy anniversary written around the plate. I was very happy with the place, and my girl was even happier.
We enjoyed a meal at Empire Steakhouse prior to a show. The service was top notch. The waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. We received complimentary whiskey after our meal which was a nice surprise. I would definitely eat there again. Be prepared for an expensive meal, but it may be worth it given the location, good food, and quality service.
The food and service is always great. We come to Empire every year on the 26th of dec for my husbands birthday. Its amazing the staff remembers us and the food and wine list is off the charts fantastic.
The steak was good. The sea bass was good. Salmon was over cooked. Tuna was over cooked. Waiter wasn’t real friendly. Way too much for value.
Christmas Day! What fabulous steak, my 14-year old managed a very large rib-eye and two chocolate ice creams, the younger one shared a ‘fillet for two’ with his sister, boy they were stuffed.
Expensive, but NY is these days. $600 for five, only two adults and three teenagers. No wine. Still, Christmas comes only once a year.
Really disappointing my Husband and I booked this restaurant for Christmas Day.
There was very few decorations and the Christmas menu was very disappointing and overpriced. We were charged $25 gratuity and this was not worth the Service we had.
There was no atmosphere in the restaurant.
Restaurant itself is good, but food was terrible. Salad was not good, Lobster cocktail was too much boiled, and the most important problem was Porterhouse Steak. It was too much burned and looked like coal. Inside was not so bad, but we have to remove the burnt surface before eating. My wife and son, daughter were very disappointed because it was a Christmas dinner. I never be back.
Food was very dry. Bread was steal, coffee was cold.
Empire was convient to our hotel. We did not expect such a wonderfully perfect meal!
Everything was just absolutely amazing! The service, food, and atmosphere were outstanding!
Great venue with fantastic staff who were very attentive but not overpowering.
Food for excellent and an amazing selection of good whiskey.
Highly recommend this restaurant.
Good food excellent service extensive wine list but overall very expensive. A bowl of pasta bolognese over $30...not right! Steak was gorgeous...but over $110!!
The restaurant is extremely expansive compared to the quality of the food.
A forced tips is added to the bill, and this is really anti- American. There is no choice in the level of tips that should be added by the customer, and not decided by the waiter. This is an abuse, they leave another line for tips that is confusing, and leads to double tipping. I will never go back to such restaurant with abusive forced tips. There should be sanction by law against the practice of double tipping.
We heard the shrimp cocktail is a little chewy and it was otherwise everything else was perfect. Awesome steaks!
Great service, great burger. Perfect scotch. Third time there always great
We went during dinner hour in the Theater District without a reservation, which is not always good timing. But we were able to be seated at a table in the bar. We got good attention from the server. Though the restaurant staff seemed a bit stressed because of the before-theater crowd, we got good service, the food came out in a timely fashion, and had overall a good experience.
1 hour and 20 minutes waiting for the food... unacceptable!
Ruined the evening/ special occasion!
I came here to celebrate my anniversary with my S/O and it was a lovely time. The only weird moment was when at dessert, the waiter had a candle in my slice of cake. I thought "oh that is cute, must be for our anniversary for some reason". But, then the waiter and a few others started singing Happy Birthday...I have no clue why that happened. My s/o and I put on smiles and such, but we were dying of confusion on the inside!!! Not sure what happened with marking my reservation as "anniversary" but hey, it was a nice meal :)
Great steaks! Great service. Nice atmosphere. Nice spot for pre theater meal.
The prices were extremely overpriced for what it was. The Cajun steak was hard to chew but the portion was big. The $14 salad was lettuce with four cherry tomatoes. Nothing more. The truffle Mac and cheese was bland at best.
It took 8 min to get a menu after we sat down.
excellent steaks and great service--I would recommend this restaurant
The service was attentive; the food tasty. We were there early for the pre-theater dinner and the pre-fixe menu for that was such a great bargain. Good prices and no skimping on the serving size or customer service. Great experience.
The food came out super fast...almost too fast..but was very good
Nice restaurant, the service was a little less than i expected but no bad, food is very good
We were staying at the Hilton attached to Empire. We booked a reservation through OpenTable which was easily done. The staff was friendly and courteous, the food was delicious however, it did take over an hour to get the food. The staff recognized the issue and offered to provide a free drink or some concession for the wait. We would definitely go back but hopefully whatever was causing the kitchen issue would be resolved.
Birthday dinner for my husband while in New York City. Crazy busy and loud but it was so New York!! We had a blast even though I was hit in the head by a waiter carrying a plate. They did comp me a dessert for that! The food was outstanding!!
I feel like the food was good, the place was busy and loud. The service is the only issue we had as we waited to be served a long time. It seems like multiple people came to our table not one waiter. We did observe people leaving due to lack of service. It was very tight as our seats were so close to other tables it was hard to get out of them . On the other hand they did offer a comp drink at the end of the night after we spent upwards of $700 .I don’t think i will be back as don’t think it was worth the money spent .
Was looking for a more intimate atmosphere for a nice dinner. Was like eating at
Grand Central Station. Wait staff was wonderful. Prices were not appropriate for the
food we received. I should have check the ratings before I went.
On the bright side, the location was next door to my hotel.
Very friendly but insanely slow service. Tables are crunched and it’s quite loud. 30 minute wait just for cocktails. Steaks were very good, but without the service, they don’t taste so good when you’re perturbed. They offer A5 Wagyu but lack knowledge of same so I passed as you should too on this restaurant.
Unreal steaks. But acoustics are very bad. Waiters running past tables which is unsettling.
