We were staying at the Hilton attached to Empire. We booked a reservation through OpenTable which was easily done. The staff was friendly and courteous, the food was delicious however, it did take over an hour to get the food. The staff recognized the issue and offered to provide a free drink or some concession for the wait. We would definitely go back but hopefully whatever was causing the kitchen issue would be resolved.
Birthday dinner for my husband while in New York City. Crazy busy and loud but it was so New York!! We had a blast even though I was hit in the head by a waiter carrying a plate. They did comp me a dessert for that! The food was outstanding!!
I feel like the food was good, the place was busy and loud. The service is the only issue we had as we waited to be served a long time. It seems like multiple people came to our table not one waiter. We did observe people leaving due to lack of service. It was very tight as our seats were so close to other tables it was hard to get out of them . On the other hand they did offer a comp drink at the end of the night after we spent upwards of $700 .I don’t think i will be back as don’t think it was worth the money spent .
Was looking for a more intimate atmosphere for a nice dinner. Was like eating at
Grand Central Station. Wait staff was wonderful. Prices were not appropriate for the
food we received. I should have check the ratings before I went.
On the bright side, the location was next door to my hotel.
Unreal steaks. But acoustics are very bad. Waiters running past tables which is unsettling.
The server was very kind. He seemed a bit overwhelmed which had an effect on our service experience.
Bartender great server just ok more interested in the big tables we were just two but steaks were great
The filet mignon was particularly delectable at dinner the other night. Medium rare was exactly how I wanted it prepared and the chef came through. It had a nice sear with that yummy dark char on the top. Not at all dry but melt in your mouth. The filet was very tender, and without hesitation I would visit the restaurant again for a steak. Service was good as the waiters were quite attentive. An enjoyable evening at the Empire Steak House.
Waiting staff was great, especially the Maitre D’
Reservation at 7 , didn't set us till almost 8. The place was mayhem. Lots of excuses for slow service. One waiter suggested we go somewhere else if we wanted to eat within an hour of seating. Not a steak house experience. Who runs out of mashed potatoes?
The bathrooms are located in the creepy basement of the adjacent Hilton Garden inn.
Just a bad experience overall. Steaks were good, but sides were bland.
We took our client to dinner on a Saturday evening. First, we notice people were leaving and no food was being served. After an hour we finally got our appetizers and just canceled our dinners. The waiter agreed we may never actually get our food. Although they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine, there was very little interaction with management, which was very disappointing. We never did get an explanation so after 2 hours we left with no dinner and a $250 bill. Won’t be returning.
It was as great food with plenty options.
Service was poor
Had the most difficult time just entering the restaurant because of their glass doors and the wind, very dangerous!
Service was great, food was great.
There was a private event going on, on the other side of the room divider, it was so incredibly loud I was shouting just to talk with my date.
One other thing, this is only ONE unisex bathroom for the entire restaurant and lobby of the hotel it’s connects to, seems so odd to pay $70. For a steak then have to wait in the hallway of The Hilton Garden Inn lobby to use the one not so clean unisex bathroom.
Very nice restaurant!. Great food, great wait staff. We had a great Thanksgiving Meal their today.
Filet, lobster, and sides nicely done, professional service, and pleasant, "steak-house" ambiance with dark wood and deep reds, wine bottles prominently displayed!! A great experience overall.
Wonderful food at Empire Steakhouse. Classic steak house menu with some twists. And only thing that matters: great steaks (and fab hash browns, spinach, bacon, ...)
Nice dinner, excellent steak, average sides and appetizers. Good choice of wines. Beware for the gratuity being already on the bill without clear indication tric. Bill above average in relation to food and sphere
Our server was so-so, not very attentive. One guest in our table ordered a steak cooked medium, but it was clearly well-done. He called it to the server's attention and he was starting to say things like, it's a tad overdone, but... He offered to do something about it half-heartedly. The manager came by and fixed it for him by giving him a new steak, cooked medium.
Overall, the lobster is subpar and my steak was medium rare on the inside, but well-done on the outside. It's a pricey restaurant for the type of food they offer, but overall, I would not recommend this place if you're hankering for a good steak and seafood meal of good quality. It's in a good location by the Theatre District, but other than location, I don't see any other circumstance to recommend this restaurant.
Food was cold so was the coffee. Service was not a tentative
The bread was cold and it felt like it was 2 days old. Then the server never told us the specials they had. We ordered our food which was 2 steaks and they just weren’t good at all the side dishes tasted like they warmed up in the microwave. After dinner we ordered dessert which was not fresh at all it was so bad and the dam coffee like who Service that coffee it was bad that we just wanted to get out of there. After spending over $300 we had to stop at McDonald’s On our way home.
Late with main course. Informed once after a long wait that main course was coming “soon”. Even had to wait to get the tab!
Great food great ambience. Excellent steak and sea food. Thank you
I had the pretheatre dinner and it was absolutely delicious . The waiter was extremely kind and we were never rushed. Would absolutely return whenever I have to go to theatre.
Delicious filet mignon and creamed spinach!!
Fabulous service! Steaks were perfectly cooked and flavored. We will return on our next visit!
We dined there pre-theater , arriving at 5pm for a 7pm show. We were a group of 10. We seated promptly, service was very good. One order of a vegetable was forgotten until we brought it to the waiter ‘s attention, hence the VG rating vs outstanding. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I had a Cesar salad which was a little lackluster, not much dressing so not much taste. However , my fish entre was cooked to perfection. Definitely a great option for dinner before a show.
The Bone in Ribeye steak was the best I’ve ever had, along with the seabass main plate. The portion sizes of the side dishes are generous and delicious. Best steak house in the Times Square region!
We were here a year ago and were very disappointed. NOT THIS TIME!! It was GREAT! Food was excellent, service friendly and professional. Definitely plan to return!
Probably the best steak house in NYC which is certainly reflected in the top end pricing for dinner. Great staff, great food in a great location!
I went to there with my family from my home country, and we had a good time for a late dinner after the broadway musical.
But they charged double (twice) payments to the credit card. (My mother noticed it on the statement.)
As it was a special day for us, I disappointed about that double.
We had a really friendly, efficient waiter. Took care of all our requests. Sat next to a huge group, so noisy. But the food was fantastic and I’m glad this place was close enough to walk from our hotel.
Wanted a nice meal on our last night in the city.
Excellent efficient and delicious
