The Empire Rooftop is located on the top floor of the iconic Empire Hotel and overlooks the Lincoln Center complex. With over 8000 square feet of interior and exterior space, The Empire Rooftop has a seasonal open-air East Terrace, a West Terrace with a retractable roof cover, an Interior Main Lounge, and a seasonal Sun Deck. Enjoy our Signature Empire Sunset Cocktail, a light bite from our appetizer menu, and take a photo in front of the iconic neon sign to complete your experience.

Guests of all ages (accompanied by a Parent) are welcome on the roof until 8PM, when those under 21 must vacate.

I took my daughter to the Empire for her 13th birthday 8 years ago as she was a huge Gossip Girl fan and yesterday we went back for her 21st birthday celebrations. The atmosphere was great and the staff were as attentive as they were on our first trip. Well done on all accounts.

The staff is more interested in chatting with each other than worrying about serving the guests. There was rampant evidence of poor training of the staff.

Always perfection from Johanna and her team though Johanna was having a well deserved day off. Our guests had a wonderful time as did we and our visit to the Rooftop was the best possible way to conclude our afternoon at the ballet.

Beautiful lounge spot. More for a drink and “nibbles” than a meal. Magnificent views of the UWS from inside and out. They don’t offer regular tables but you can sit on couches and there are some 2 person high top tables. Beautifully decorated in and out. The food isn’t anything special. Limited menu options, mostly appetizers but remember this is a “cocktail lounge” not a restaurant, but their cocktails are are amazing. The service was fair. Great spot for a drink and nibbling after a performance at Lincoln Center when you’re not interested in a full meal.

Johanna and her crackerjack crew made our visit to the Rooftop bar after the ballet Wednesday afternoon at the Metropolitan Opera House another stellar occasion. This woman is a born hostess: Gracious, warm, welcoming, genuinely friendly and concerned that visitors to the Rooftop have a wonderful time. She ensures that guests experience what one would expect only at a private club--a sense of belonging. This warms the heart! The superb drinks smooth one's day and the delicious menu offerings are presented in the most pleasingly aesthetic way. Even though Wednesday it was almost 100F outside, Johanna never looses her cool despite being as warm a restaurant/hotel professional as I have ever met. Ballet season has a few more weeks to go and so I look forward to more visits to the Rooftop Bar. Bravi to the staff and a special brava to Johanna.

With open views of Lincoln Center Plaza, Broadway, and Columbus Ave., we enjoyed our seats above the bustle of the streets below. The AC in the main room was a welcome relief from the outdoor sauna of our early summer heat wave. The now familiar staff was excellent, as usual, serving us calamari, beef sliders, jerk chicken wings, and Ahi tuna tostadas. Special drinks from talented bartenders Hector and Raoul topped off our visit. We look forward to a small staff gathering here next month, hopefully outside in more comfortable, early evening weather.

My daughter loves Gossip Girl so for her 21st birthday we came to New York from UK to celebrate. The Empire Hotel rooftop was on our list to visit. What a disappointment, staff were not at all friendly, good was just ok but expensive, decor is very dated. I would not recommend and a total disappointment for my daughter’s birthday.
