This was my first visit to Empire Cafe, we sat downstairs and wish we hadn’t, it was very dark and hot/stuffy. The waitress was brilliant, explained the menu and gave recommendations. The starters were very tasty (prawns and wontons) The rotisserie chicken was very juicy but it could have been hotter. The little potatoes were very nice. The dessert FAB lolly inspired eclair was a taste sensation. £100 for two of us, inc 2 soft drinks each. I would go back

We kicked things off with the spam pakora playful, nostalgic twist that somehow managed to be both cheeky and delicious. The prawns were succulent and perfectly cooked. The cesar salad with anchovies was light and fresh. The truffle pork was the standout: rich, tender, and laced with earthy depth. It paired beautifully with the chicken schmaltz potatoes, which were golden, crisp-edged, and soaked in all the right kinds of flavour. The ribs brought it home—sticky, smoky, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Portions leaned toward the small side, but each dish was crafted with care and flair. The staff were knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic, happy to guide us through the menu and share their favourites. Empire Cafe is well worth a visit. We will definitely be back - thank you!

We were accommodated by friendly staff at the Empire Cafe despite being late for booking. Great food and the white wine was well above average. An enjoyable lunch with ambience.

Best meal I’ve had in a long time, the flavours were delicious, There were 4 of us and we shared 5 tapas starters which were delicious and I had the roast chicken dinner, my husband had the ribs which he said were amazing. Hugo spritz cocktail was very nice. The staff very attentive and friendly. They have another restaurant in a pub called The Highland Laddie which I am eager to try. I would highly recommended, the restaurant is very small so can’t really cater for large parties. It’s definitely a place to try.

Once again the food, drinks, service and ambiance were exceptional. Learning from previous experience we did not over order, restricting ourselves to the Sunday lunch and an affogato, lovely. And it is worth mentioning that The Highland Laddie is also worth visiting

As always, the food and service were excellent. The regular changes to the menu make Empire a go to place for top food that is reasonably priced!

A really lovely evening. Delicious food and excellent service. Main courses good value, thought small plates were a tad overpriced.
