Open Dinner & Brunch. We opened our doors on March 22nd, 2011 with the intention of treating tacos with a high level of respect and serving them in a fun environment.  Which is how I believe tacos should be enjoyed. We designed the menu with the idea that most ingredients worth eating can benefit further by being placed atop a well-made tortilla. We push our kitchen team to explore the ubiquitous flavors that we all love about Mexican cooking in this country as well as the less obvious ones that we all should love. Empellon's approach to cuisine is informed by authenticity but is not limited by it.

The food. Every dish from the tacos to the impossibly unique desserts to each individual salsa sustained a distinct and exquisite flavor. The service can be rushed or slow, the space is cramped and sometimes loud, but it's totally worth it for the food. And drinks - the classic margarita is really the only one you need.

Very nice with friendly staff. The service was very good and the tacos were definitely the best things on the menu. The sides weren't as memorable but the tacos made it worth it.

Awesome vibe! I went for food and drinks with my sister on a Friday night. It wasn't packed, but we were there early. The spicy cucumber margaritas are awesome! Our server was just the best. My sister doesn't love cilantro but it was pre made in the guac (no big deal). We ordered 3 different kinds of tacos and the server had them put the cilantro on the side - we didn't even ask for that! That type of service is just above and beyond. He also treated us to a shot of tequila on the house. Brussel sprout tacos are the best!!! Will def be back.

The food has remained very consistent, always excellent. We love all of the tacos, and of note, the tortillas themselves (especially the corn tortillas) reflect the care and pride of place. Salsas, sopes, queso fundidos were all terrific; and service was attentive, solicitous and prompt. We will keep returning on a regular basis, and certainly do not hesitate to recommend Empellon Taqueria to many of our friends.

We came for the special five-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu, which was amazing. Started with delicious guac and chips, then a sea scallop ceviche with lime curd, followed by celery root with salsa macha, then red and green chorizo in a shallow skillet on top of melted cheese. Here's where we ran into trouble. Having cleaned every previous plate, we were getting full. But the next course was two tacos, and we could each finish only one. So we took the last pair home with us, leaving room for the yummy chocolate custard with flor de cacao crema we had for dessert.

This was my third time at Empellon. It will be my last. The restaurant was not crowded on Sunday evening. It took over two hours for them to bring a three course meal. Our server disappeared after taking our order. Food was good but pricey. Inexcusable service at a restaurant this pricey.

As usual, great food and drink!
We come at least twice a year when in town for gift show!
This time, it was Restaurant Week, so a great deal to boot!
Fun, knowledgeable, personable, and now-famous bartender-Dillon-completed the evening!
Favorites=fish tacos, chili rellenos tacos, Brussels sprout tacos, guacamole and chips, always get the taco special of day too! Margaritas are good but I prefer a martini and Dillon makes a great gin martini, served in the correct glass!

Went for dinner during Restaurant Week. I had the best ceviche I've ever tasted, delicate with a good balance of flavors rather than the very acidic ones I've tried elsewhere. The main course was 3 tacos (of course) but I wasn't left hungry at all, the portions were sizable. The restaurant wasn't too noisy even when full. I was happy with what I tried.

Came here during restaurant week with a friend. Spicy margarita was fantastic. Guac was great. The cauliflower app was bland (it was chopped cold over a sauce) and the ceviche was good. The tacos were ehh and we each only took one bite of dessert because it was no bueno. Left hungry and with a mind set of "what did we just pay for?".

Restaurant Week Brunch. Margaritas @ $14 were very good. Favorites were golden beets appetizer. Best chips ever with interesting cashew salsa. Fish tempura tacos were crunchy, light& refreshing. Desserts were weakest part of meal.

Tacos was very nice, but it takes too long time between dish and dish.
It took more than 2 hours to have lunch from 12:30.
