Our menu focusses on tacos, ceviche, queso fundidos and seasonal vegetable dishes.
We use fresh masa to make our corn tortillas daily, (they’re gluten free).
Our drink menu focuses on margaritas and cocktails crafted from artisanal Mexican spirits. Beer and wine is also available, with happy hour specials served at our Sunday – Friday, including late night.
We serve dinner 7 nights a week, brunch on Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon, and offer a Sunday evening prix fixe. Takeout and delivery are also available via Seamless, GrubHub or Caviar.

One of the waiters is always trying to push food down your throat and it’s very annoying. It’s my 4th time there and he is always the same.... if I want to eat more I will ask for mote. He is blonde.
Food came out cold - every taco filling was cold. No one came by immediately after the food was dropped to ask how the food was, so we ate it anyway. Tasted OK, but I imagine it would have been better hot.
The carnitas are spectacular — worth a visit for that alone.
A wonderful date spot in the West Village, with innovative and subtle flavors in an impressive range of tacos and other options. Dessert is a must.
We were seated at a long communal table with no space or separation in between seats. People were on top of eachother, very tough to hear and not at all an intimate atmosphere.
I had an outstanding meal and a perfectly attentive server.
Loved my meal.
Great atmosphere, tasty food and well mixed cocktails
Food was great. Pretty pricey, but flavorful. Service was very good. Have the pastrami taco!
It was great, just felt a little pressured by the waiters to rush with our night!
The atmosphere is very nice here and the service is attentive but the food is good, not great.
Delicious tacos, lovely service.
The menu is surprisingly limited. Not much to select from which was very disappointing. The guacamole was ok but loaded with little green jalapeños as a garnish but didn’t do it for me. It was taking away from the guacamole which was tasty on its on . The chips were a bit dated. The main course (if you want to call it that) was very tasty, but limited. The service was great and the drinks (also limited in variety) were very good. The decor is beautiful. Unfortunately it didn’t make my list of return visits. I’m sure others would find this all acceptable and I hope they do. It’s an expensive experience.
Portions were not worth the price point not to mention the flavors were not astounding... if anything very flat
Good date spot
Happy hour menu is fantastic. Thank you for the attentive service!
Awesome service and relaxing vibe!
Cute, fun place with unreal tacos and interesting twist on Mexican food!
The food was delicious. The only issue I had was the service. It took forever for us to get our drink orders. We had to ask our waiter a few times on the status. At one point, my friend’s drink was incorrectly brought to the people sitting next to us. When the waiter realized that was wrong, she passed my friend the drink that was given to the guest next to us. Clearly we would’ve preferred a new drink. In the end we were comped for the drink but it was inappropriate.
Great food great service great price
Restaurant was empty. Yet we waited WAY too long to get the entrees. It was ridiculous. When the food arrived it was over salted.
Prix fixe was amazing and so much food!
The staff at Empellon are incredibly friendly, accommodating, helpful, and sweet. We celebrated our 2-year dating anniversary and they printed up special menus for us and brought us a dessert. The food of course is excellent. The carnitas are our favorite though we have had and like all the tacos. The drinks are tasty. We'll be back and highly recommend others try it too
Great atmosphere, back room quieter - good for conversation. Excellent food. Waitstaff mean week, but need more training.
Located in a lovely street on the West Village. Interesting art, ambiance, unusual Mexican food, generous portions. A winner!
Great service - especially the host .
Food is excellent but it’s disappointing to have a bill presented to you without asking for one. It just screams ‘get out’ at the end of a meal. Would have stayed for more drinks otherwise.
Awesome restaurant. Fun vibes
Thank u, dinner was nice
One of the best Mexican/taco spots in nyc.
Close to Stonewall, this place has an artistic Dali vibe with the beautiful artwork. The cocktails are fantastic and worth it just for that. Tacos a little on the pricey side but so delicious that it makes this a good place to eat or drink or both.
The food is exceptional ... if you are "noise-challenged", request a table in the back when you book your reservation; the front / bar side is VERY loud!!!
Terrific food and cocktails. Some innovative flavors and accents that really make the meal special.
Everything was great.. except the bartender.. he was SO rude. Manager had to comp out drinks. Loved the Brussels sprout tacos.
Way too loud! You don’t understand a word across the table.
Food was not great. I have been in the past numerous times and I remember it being much better. The restaurant also brought every single thing that we ordered at the same time (there wasn’t even enough room on the table - we had to combine dishes) and when we asked if they could take some of it back and space it out more the waitress said that the chef said no.
Happy hour tacos start at 10pm. Good to know for late night meals!
Great food and service
The food was great, our waitress was so friendly and helpful and we could not hear each other speak. The acoustics of the space are awful. If you want to come just to eat, it would be fine. But if you wish to have conversation along with your meal, this is not the place to come.
From the decor, to the food, to the service - all around amazing experience! Came for restaurant week and cannot wait to return and try the full menu.
I have dined here several times for dinner and once for brunch in the fall. Dont bother coming here in the summertime on a weekend for brunch. They have their “D” team in on the line. I should have known because the menu was limited. The guacamole was just ok. The pastrami taco was tasteless. It was very disappointing! We were supposed to go to the Black Ant that day, which is excellent Mexican but they had an incident in their kitchen. It was disappointing because my friend was in town from Australia.
The cocktails were good and the waitress was great. I didn’t say anything but she volunteered to take the Pastrami tacos off the menu. That was unexpected and appreciated. My friend thought his chicken tacos were pretty good.
Best to go for dinner during the week and brunch apres ete.
