The service and the ambience were great and the food was tasty. It’s the value that was challenging. $48.00 for short ribs? Most entrees were over $35.00 and just felt a little too pricey for the limited offer. Better for lunch than dinner.

Excellent, innovative and beautiful food and wonderful service. A real gem in midtown.
First of all, the service was outstanding. I was at the bar with a friend and Hugo handled us. Service was lightning quick, he was well informed about the menu. We had sweetbreads, shrimp, and steak. Excellent. The atmosphere is chic but not obnoxious, not loud, super modern and the bar selection is extensive.
I've been here several times for work lunches and they rush you. All of the pomp & circumstance over the guacamole/salsas is stupid. $21 for a small container of guacamole with 10 salsas, of which only 1 is good. Terrible value. The wait service hovers and rushes to clean off the table while you are still eating, very annoying.

The food was delicious. The service was terrific too but it was clearly good because it was very rushed. I was meeting a friend I had not seen in a long time and the waiter kept pushing us for drinks and our order the second we sat down. I will not go again during lunch time on week day.
As always Empellon was amazing. Every dish is a delicious surprise. The crab nachos are a must every time. And the “Avacado” dessert may just be the best thing in n the menu and a complete surprise!
Too expensive for the quality and quantity of food. The wagyu beef was not cooked at all.

The food was underwhelming and overpriced--the spices and flavor just were not very good in the entrees we had (tacos and short rib confit). Also felt the time to deliver the main entree to the table was excessive--1 hour+ from the time of order. We ate early also to catch a show--the restaurant wasn't even half full when we were seated so it's not like the kitchen was overloaded. Overall, we were very disappointed. The one bright light was our server--she was friendly, informative, very professional and conscientious.

The kitchen closed very early and not flexible about a solution. Food is very good but they should be more welcoming to the dinner crowd the staff is a lunch crew that wants to get out of there early and it feels like it.
Booked at Open Table late in the day for early 6:30 dinner for two. Asked for upstairs. Was brought to crappy table in the back by wait station. Asked for the open table at the railing —was told it was for four. Had a lovely dinner; service was good. As we were leaving, said open table had two white men seated there.

Overall : Very good food, good ambiance and reasonable prices considering midtown location. Menu is Mexican based but not typical Mexican. Guacamole with 7 salsas is a great “pre-appetizer” starter that can be continued through the meal. Appetizers in general are good (duck tamale is the standout). Among the Entrees, Short- rib is very good. Entrees mostly seem to be sized for two people - it would be helpful to have them sized for one person ( may be at 60-65% the cost of the standard Entree). Desserts are innovative and excellent in general (Avocado dessert is the standout).

The ambiance was so lovely. The food was truly delicious, especially the crab nachos! Perfect for date night or just dinner with friends.
My daughter and I had a great experience at Empellon Midtown. Service was friendly and prompt with a coordinated team approach. The homemade guacamole was outstanding with 7 different salsas to try. Margaritas were yummy with smoked salt on the glass. We had tacos — chanterelle and fish — and both were very good. It is Midtown, so the menu is pricey, but it was a great dining experience and I would go back!
Yes - in fact I have alrrady recommended the place to several friends and they are booking at Empellon. Outstanding service and exquisite meals - went for the lunch prix fix menu. Gluten free dishes were outstanding! Thanks again for an awesome experience.
