The worst food I’ve ever had. Would never recommend or come back. What a waste of time and money!
Waiters kept getting orders wrong. Menu restricted to moderately seasoned food.
Gotta try the cheeseburger tacos. Those things got me so hard I had to order a second round of them. The service was great and the food came out quickly and was perfectly prepared. The staff was kind, helpful, and asked if we had any allergies. Personally wasnt a big fan of the pina colada but they were kind enough to replace my drink without additional charges. Great dating atmosphere. The rooftop of the hotel is a whole vibe as well. Good music and cold beers. Highly reccomend.
Small menu with no descriptions of food, I have had better tacos at places that aren’t even specifically “mexican”, waiter was rude, felt rushed to leave. Would recommended that people only go here as a last resort. Drinks look good but food isn’t worth it.
I really enjoyed my dinner there with my cousins and fiancé! All the food we ordered and drinks were great. Really hit the spot! No complaints here :)
Great lunch spot! App plus tacos for $18 and a margarita for $1!
Music way too loud to talk over a meal
We enjoy Alex Stupak's food, so we were excited to try his newest location. The food was excellent, although I wish there were more taco options, as well as an option to order 1 taco at a time. Service was a bit delayed at times--especially for the drinks, but we got everything we ordered. The main complaint I have is that it was VERY loud and my wife and I felt like we were yelling at eachother at times.
We had a great time here. Unbelievable food and service. Game room for kids. Rooftop bar. Awesome. Glad we went.
We popped in for happy hour and had drinks & delicious tacos. The Al Pasteur w/the pork/pineapple was my favorite. The fish tempura was also very tasty. Cocktails were a little weak but we will definitely return.
Beautiful space, great food and drinks, excellent service - we plan to go back soon.
For lunch great. Gets busy after work
The food tasted like it was frozen processed food and the drinks were very expensive. This is a tourist trap since its next to a hotel. $15 for one beer? Really??? I am not sure how this place will survive, there a ton of bars/restaurant's in that area that are so much better for your money.
Never going back to this place!
Happy Hour Specials were Great. However limited options!
$8 for Two Tacos. Excellent Tasting.
Chicken Quesadilla were Delicious.
1 Draft Beer for HH, 1 Can Beer for HH.
Very disappointing food and too loud. Poor wine selection, the wine was lukewarm when it should have been chilled.
Will not return. My guest said that the food was awful, much to my embarrassment.
Food and service are fantastic! It is Mexican/American bar food, and the prices are super affordable. It’s a wonderful fun spot to celebrate the weekend. I went with a friend one week and loved it so much that I brought my husband back the following week! Great addition to the neighborhood! Will be back soon!
If you want a fun casual dinner of really yummy Mexican snack food - go here.
We had fabulous service and excellent food. We really weren’t sure what to expect, given that we had read some negative reviews, but EAP exceeded our expectations and we look forward to going back. The food was good on all counts - we had the guacamole to start, followed by the cheeseburger taco (probably our least favorite - “it’s just a cheeseburger”), the lamb and bulgur fritters (scrumptious - would go back just for these), and the white beans as a side. All good. The portions are snack size so that you can order several to share. Drinks - just ok - but we were there for the food and it did not disappoint . Only criticism is that the place is super noisy. If you want to avoid that, go early or at off-hours, otherwise, be prepared to shout to be heard.
Very amateur service. Food was average compared to other of the chefs places. Drinks were bad, pass on the bloody Mary's. Left ours half drank. Empty for a reason, the restaurant it replaced used to be full always.
Great place if you are staying at the POD hotel and want to get out of your cell into a larger space. Not so great if you are interested in a fine (non-bar) dining experience where you can hear your companions. It is basically a bar with a row of high tables & high (backless) stools against the wall. That said, the food is quite good.....a shadow of the 'more formal'', 'full service' empellons.
Drinks are overpriced for their size (even for Manhattan). The service was terrible. We ordered food and had to ask for everything (silverware, water refills, etc).
I guess I didn’t realize that it was a younger scene. It’s not for an older crowd. Otherwise, the food was very good. The ribs stand out the most for me.
The room was far too loud for conversation. Food was fine but quite salty.
I was really looking forward to this place opening, unfortunately it has already limited its time for happy hour specials - before 6pm - within a month of opening, and I’ll never understand how a place can charge $14 for a margarita or $12+ for an order of 2 tacos.
Food was awesome and big portions, great for sharing - good choice
Alex Stupak's new casual place is a winner, great fun bar snacks you can build a meal off of and the price is right, especially given the high quality and careful preparation. Expect service kinks to be worked out
Our bartender was a rock star
Liked the food and service but hated the dark Satanic decor. Gave me the creeps. I couldn’t wait to get out of there!
There are a lot of snack options on the menu, but very few dinner options. The food was good, but the menu was too casual for what I expected. I had been to Salvation Taco many times, and I have been to Empellon. Without reviewing the menu (my mistake), I assumed this would be ST elevated by the Empellon touch. It is not that. Also, the margaritas were terrible. Our server was lovely, but the drink service was very slow.
It would have been good if there was more vegetarian options..otherwise the food was good..overall a good experience
The food was just ok on average. Very good guacamole but way too chewy and garlicky ribs. Decent curly fries and nothing special tacos al pastor. Decent drinks. I expected something a little more like a real restaurant; this felt more like a bar that happens to serve some food.
Serving overpriced shot glass sized margaritas, this places truly knows how to grind my gears. Not only has this restaurant ruined margaritas for me, but my mouth is still in the process of cooling off from the sweet potato tacos I ate. The wait staff is great, love them, but however they did ask me if I wanted chips and gauc as if it was complementary although contrary to the check it was otherwise ($15). 4 tacos, 4 drinks and chips will put you down $100.
Had a great dinner at Al Pastor @ Pod 39 Sunday night! Highlights of the meal were the cheeseburger tacos and the wings with brown butter macha sauce! I highly recommend checking out this location as well as all the other Empellón establishments!
We had a great time at this restaurant and everyone there was so accommodating! We had a rather large group of people (8) and even though I originally made the reservation for 7, they were able to accommodate an extra person. It is a great, chic spot in an area where there may not be that many trendy restaurants.
The food was great, especially for a group of people. We ordered guacamole, chicken wings, french fries, and one of every taco available and it was perfect to share with a large group (of people with varying dietary restrictions!) The drinks were great as well (I loved the shot and chaser pairings!).
The restaurant is very trendy and cool. I was shocked that this place only opened recently because everything ran pretty smoothly. I had been here multiple times before when it was Salvation Taco and I can't wait till it gets warmer and the roofdeck is open.
All in all, a great spot especially for large groups of people!
Bad food! Bad service! Bad Margaritas! Though Al Pastor is part of the Empellon (which is good) this was not!! That's all...
Or very authentic. Very small selection. Place was cold.
The menu has changed and it’s awful. I loved the previous menu and I now can taste the budget cut. I will only come back for drinks and the rooftop.
With kids. Got table in lounge area and worked out really well
The simple fish taco was amazing here, perfect blend of spice and creamy fish sauce, paired with the white Pinot Gris and some guacamole and chips, an excellent meal. The oysters with cheese and bacon were decadent and delicious too!
What happened to salvation taco.... menu with curly fries?!?!? Wtf?
Former glory has faded
Staff is still great tho!
