    We loved the vibe of the Plaza Midwood neighborhood and this restaurant in particular, but the big star of the show is the pizza! It's square pizza (hence the name of the restaurant) and is a medium-dish pizza, not quite as thick as Chicago deep-dish but definitely not thin. We had the Hawaiian pizza that was AMAZING, mostly because of the chili glaze that provided some kick and made it original. This restaurant is definitely a winner!

    As a former Detroiter I’m always on the hunt for good, thick, square pizza. Emmy’s filled my craving and the some! Will definitely return!

    The food is always amazing they have the best pizza ever the pizza is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside the creations of the pizzas are creative and tasty. Best pizza in charlotte hands down. The ambience is perfect for date night or boujee night out with a friend. Service was superb. Only thing I would say was a negative was the music, nothing wrong with alternative for those who like it I just think it’s not what we want to hear in an upscale restaurant either way this is my 7th time at Emmy and never disappoints. Thanks Emmy!

     Parking in this area is not easy, you might have to look for a spot, so definitely plan that into your time if you have reservations. The overall atmosphere is great and the music was on point. I’m not a super big fan of the booth layout because they are three people deep and so if you end up sitting on the inside you’re pretty much stuck there. I think it would be cooler if they had booths open on each side. The middle table looked cool though, but we didn’t sit there even though we had requested hightop in our reservation…the server was polite, but it took forever for her to come back and forth to our table and we were pretty much the only people there, (Thursday at 7pm) so I’m not sure what was up with that. Other than that, the food was insane, that pizza with some of the best I’ve had in a while, we had the Detroit vodka. The brussels sprout salad was OK. I feel like both the salads I tried there needed more salt or flavoring —Something was missing and maybe it was just salt- not sure. Glasses of wine come out in little carafes so you know you get a good pour each time. Prices were decent, it was a great place to just have a casual meal with friends.

    The food was pretty good, and the place had a great feel to it. The service was pretty odd and not very approachable and non attentive. Had to wait a pretty long time for the food even though the place was about a quarter full and the drinks were terrible (cocktails with nothing but liquid tasted like shots). It was an experience but will not be coming back sadly.

    Though there were not many customers in the place, the service was slow but friendly. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and a cocktail - the cocktail took approximately 25 minutes to arrive at the table. We ordered one burger and one pizza to share at the table and it took at least 45 minutes to an hour. Maybe it was an off day but think service and pace could be improved. The servers were very friendly and seemed to be a kitchen and bar issue.

    It really sucks that i have to write this review bc this was, at one point, one of my go-to spots, but the last few times have been lacking in many areas. My most recent visit was unfortunate. The glasses were dirty, and one had lipstick on it. There was something floating in the bottle of water, and they were out of many of the menu items. We ended up canceling our drink order and heading to the one in South End.

    We chose this location over the one in South End because the reviews were better. They ran out of vegan cheese which we picked this restaurant to accommodate a vegan eater. Then I ordered a chicken sandwich, 20 minutes after I ordered I told the chef took out their last chicken and it doesn’t look like it should be served. They don’t want to make me sick so they asked if I would order something else. I just ate fries. Our waiter (who was also the bartender) didn’t come back over after we ordered, we only saw her again when she brought the check. She placed it on the table and stood there like she was waiting for us to stop talking and pay. I looked at her so she moved over to the next table but stood there staring at our table. So I asked her is the restaurant closing and she said no and I think she realized she was just standing there for a while so she walked away. Not sure if she behaved that way out of newest to the role or prejudice to a group of black women. Needless to say, we won’t be back. The only good thing was that the fries were good!

    We came for our 7 year old’s bday and it was pretty quiet but the service and food were AMAZINGGGGG! Will be back on a busier minus the kids to check it out.

    When we walked in there was no one to greet us. We were eventually seated in the bar area at a dirty table even though all of the other tables were empty. There were shelves behind us and someone had left a dirty plate on the shelf. Our waitress was sweet and the drinks and food were delicious.

    Our daughter has Celiac’s disease and rarely gets to enjoy dining out. Emmy’s Squared was an excellent place!! Thank you for having dedicated gluten free dedicated equipment and FANTASTIC pizza!!

    Had reservations prior to a soccer game. Ordered a drink, they were out of one of the ingredients. Ordered the meatball appetizer, they were out of those. Ordered a chopped salad, no meat was in it. When asked about, was told there was some in there, that it’s just choked so we may have a hard time seeing it. Pizzas took over forty minutes and were ordered with all the food. There were less than ten tables seated in the whole place so not sure what the ongoing issues were. We brought another couple with us and apologized to them for all the issues. Will not be returning.

    They broke a glass setting up our booth, then didn’t clean it all up. When we sat we had to ask them to come back to get a few pieces of glass and crumbs off the table. The server took our order and never returned, so our one drink each was all we were getting. The pizza is a little over priced for what it is, but the good paulie was tasty.

    Our first visit was so good that we invited 14 back for our second visit! Celebrating our friends and a birthday the restaurant accommodated our large crowd with ease! The delicious food options met everyone’s dietary needs. The server was great and handled our rowdy crowd masterfully! We will be back!

    We made a dinner reservation as a management team from my company. First of all, so few restaurants allow online booking for 8+, so I was relieved to be able to avoid the hassle of a phone call. They seated us promptly and we enjoyed several different appetizers and pizzas. The staff was fast, accommodating, and pleasant.

    Pizza is great and the other food looks like it’s just as good. I grew up in Detroit. I’m also a global pizza fan. This is as close (just as good) as you can get to real Detroit style pizza. The crust is perfect and the ingredients are fresh and high quality. I’m a huge fan of the big Al!

    Overall experience was nice. Service team seemed stretched thin. We also came within 1 hour of closing so some of that is on us. Quiet. Spread out. Spacious. Very nice atmosphere. Couples & families present. Nice vibe. Pizza was good. Ingredients were top notch simply wish there were more of them. Some slices of the hot honey pizza didn’t have protein. Photo was taken after boxed to take home for example. Next time I’ll take better photos of the before version. :)

    Unusually quiet dinner for a Saturday night in the area. The food was just okay for the price, but our waitress was great. Probably won’t go out of my way to go back.

    Our service was unbelievably kind. We were a big group and the entire staff was incredibly gracious. Grateful to get to be a patron here and for them to be so accommodating. Y’all are the best!!

    We had such great service from Matthew. He was so nice and gave really good recommendations. The pizza was (as my 20-yr-old likes to say) FIRE! It was so delicious! The prices were great. We will be going back! Many more times!

    Pizza was as good as it gets for Detroit style pizza. And came out quick though there were few customers at 6:30 on a Thursday evening. Pizza prices were kind of high but understandable given the ambiance which is quite nice. Better value at Jet’s but no ambiance there. Drink prices a bit on the high side as well. And just plain tacky serving a $13 glass of wine in a rocks glass. I guess i should have insisted on proper stemware but didn’t want to embarrass my son. A chintzy pour as well in my opinion. My son ordered one of their custom cocktails and seemed to enjoy it and price was OK. Might go back on a special occasion but nothing I’ll frequent very often.

    This is now my second time and it was not much better than the first. First Time: Food took forever to come out Then our to go box was dirty and we just left. Second Time: Waiter was a little rude. I ordered a Hot Toddy. Halfway through our entrees it still had not arrived But, I was served a side of Hot Honey, rather than a Hot Toddy.
