They forgot our food and the service was very unkind. They threw the check at us at the end of the night.
Booked a large table for my daughter’s birthday and the staff took excellent care of us!! The food is always delicious!
Waiter was inattentive and food ordered was overcooked.
Extremely slow service. Took over 20 minutes for someone to come to table. Ordered everything at once. Don’t think it was ever submitted to the kitchen. 40 minutes later were asked what we ordered. Another 30 to finally get food. Food was good. But not sure we’ll be back to dine in.
Food was good but service was inefficient and slow.
Waiter was great. Pizza awesome. Salad needs a bit of love.
This is a MUST EAT in Alexandria! The staff are welcoming and attentive, friendly and funny. The atmosphere is comfortable and warm. The food is absolutely incredible! The pizza is the best I have had in a very long time! The bites are good portions and the cocktails are fabulous. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a 5 star experience!!
The service is a cluster- you know what! We were seated and no one came to take our order or get us water. Finally, a guy came to us and apologized and said the waitress would be right over! Finally a waitress came. We ordered all our stuff at once, drinks, apps and food! The drinks came but the apps came with the food all at once. The waitstaff is really struggling and it doesn’t seem like any real leadership! Long waits and waiter comes by once. I know there is a shortage but this is the second time it’s happens to us! The food is good tho!
Soooo I'm totally coming back here. Late lunch for my husband and I. The garlic breadsticks are a must. Love the pomegranate margaritas. Shout out to Keith for helping out with our order. Pizza is delicious
Long wait times with very little customers. Split order food to go and some to eat in house but they forgot to put the to-go portion in though I suggested they put it in right away. Asked for a medium rare burger, came out well done and asked for a runny egg and it was almost totally cooked yoke (like McDonalds yoke). Finally, when they brought the to-go food out they put it on the shelf near the exit rather than bring to us at the bar, I was watching for this since last time I waited 25 min and was never told my to-go food was ready at the door. Seems like general staff confusion every time I visit and the pizza came with toppings that weren't on the menu ("Good Paulie" had a large amount of undercooked parsley on it which wasn't on the menu). Overall, I have liked parts of the pizza (the crust) at this place but the overall effort it takes to order and get food there is a lot of work and time -- too much work for casual dining! I am likely to not go back for some time due to the "adventure" every time I visit, originally thought it was a pandemic issue since they opened under COVID and initial crowds were BIG... now there is no excuse for mediocre, slow service with small crowds and you get to "roll of the dice" for free to see if you get the food/pizza you really ordered!
Even though Emmy’s was short staffed, the bartender turned host turned waiter was FABULOUS!!! He set expectations early, came around often to check on us and made wonderful recommendations. Highly recommend the tia fries!
Food was good service was so-so.
First time eating here. Next time I’m in town, I will definitely go back.
Everyone enjoyed the food although my youngest said the burger was just “normal,” however my oldest who had the same burger enjoyed hers.
Our party included 4 kids…the staff and waiter were very accommodating! The food was also delicious—order the Colony pizza!
Music a bit toooooo loud.
Other customers also noted that
Highly recommend!! Tried it for the first time since it opened in Old Town and we had Keith (general manager) as our server. He was AMAZING!!! He gave great food recommendations and was so patient with our large group as we ordered. The food was also so good. The pizza, burger, appetizers, everything was delicious. Will definitely be coming back!
Great food and service! Highly recommend.
It was great! Honestly some of the best pizza in old town
While we enjoyed the service, the pizza is/was not my favorite in DC area.
Went with friends to catch up. New restaurant and staff is still learning so service was uneven.
Food was great, staff very friendly.
They were out of eggplant and that was what I wanted. (Said they ran out at 8:00 last night). Our server needs more practice. We ordered the yummy garlicky breadsticks and 2 entrees. It was a wait for the breadsticks. And after she came over and wanted to know if we wanted anything else (?!). Than she saw we had a hamburger ordered…but not my chicken parmigiana. She said did I want it? It would take about 10 min but the hamburger was coming right out. No! That’s ridiculous to eat separately! I have no idea why she didn’t get the order straight as we talked about it and she even commented on the chicken parmigiana was really good. That was unfortunate for a first visit.
This is the best pizza's I've had in years. Fred was a personable and attentive waiter, and the waffle fries were amazing. I do wish the restaurant wasn't so loud.
Have always been a fan of Emmy squared so was excited to see this new location come to Old Town! Like many new restaurants, service was not great the night we came in. The server messed up our order and we had to wait a while for our drinks when we first got there, but we didn’t want to complain or say anything because they were busy and we were just glad to be there. We will certainly be back and look forward to seeing them improve over time with their staff.
The food was good, but the service was strange. They had waiters but were really pushing a system in which you order from a QR code versus with your waiter. It made the experience confusing and not very relaxing.
Wonderful new addition to Old Town! Pizza was outstanding - crust & toppings. Service was friendly. We couldn’t wait for them to open and so excited they have!
Great addition to the Alx restaurant scene! Innovative flavors and combos ... good cocktails, not too sweet, and nice beer selection. Attentive and friendly staff!
Great food and atmosphere! They’re still figuring things out and a few things were messed up with our order but they were very apologetic and compensated us.
Very doughy pizza with virtually no crust. Middle piece of slice was barely warm.
Overall a great meal. Service could have been a lottle more attentive. I had been to the DC location where food and drinks came quicker to us.
The crust on the pizza is flavorful but the cost for what you get is really ridiculous. I can’t think of a reason to purposely return. The bar is pretty though.
I really wanted to like Emmy squared. However all of the dishes we tasted left us disappointed. Notably the “fries for the table“ weren’t crispy and had a strange coating on them. Our salads we’re mostly green without many of the other veggies that were supposed to come with them. Granted, neither of us got a pizza (my sister took 2 home with her so maybe those were better) and perhaps that was our mistake.
In all if you go, stick with the pizza for your most tasty meal.
We enjoyed our visit to EmmySquared in Old Town Alexandria. They seem to be still working out some of their kinks with their service, but this is to be expected with a new restaurant and with today’s challenges in hiring experienced waitstaff. For her part, our waitress was doing everything she could to provide excellent customer service. The food was excellent and totally worth the wait! I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Host and hostess were friendly and welcoming, apologized for lack of menus and indicated if we had wanted a booth we should have reserved online (I didn’t see this option anywhere).
It took almost 10min to get a server to take drinks and appetizer order. Another 10+ to receive that. Had to flag and request to order food.
Food was not brought as requested (sauce on side of fries) but was removed from the bill. Pizza, the highlight was SO DISAPPOINTING. The main feature of Detroit pizza is the crust. It was CHARRED to a crisp, dried out and burned. We are a total of one piece each and didn’t bring it home, not that we were even asked. As a Detroit native I came here for the pizza, huge disappointment.
On the upside the place was very clean and had a ton of staff. Not sure if they all knew their roles but there were plenty of people, especially the bus staff clearing and cleaning tables.
For a $50 check it was not worth it and we won’t be back anytime soon. Sadly our pandemic pickup order from the Shaw DC location was much better.
First time and it won’t be my last! Pizza was amazing.
Very disappointed. Kale salad was good and substantial. Downhill from there. I love mushrooms and truffles but the Angel pie was mostly flavorless. I also like salt but the Big Al pizza was salty beyond belief (we’re pretty sure the cooks messed up the sauce). Zepolis were partially raw. Server was friendly but service was slow.
We were familiar with the restaurant from visiting the sister restaurant in the West Village in NYC, so we knew a bit about the menu and were not disappointed. We had a table outside on King Street, which was great for people watching. We had a 6:30 reservation and fortunately did not have to wait for our table, but there was a short line when we left. We were greeted at our table within in minutes by a manager who took our drink order and left us to peruse the menu. There were 2 of us and we opted to split the burger and a pizza. We chose the Colony. Both were excellent. Odd that the burger comes with no fries or chips, but frankly we did not need them with the side of Pizza. We had a hard time not eating the entire pizza, but did manage to save a piece to bring home, which was just as delicious the next day for a snack. We had a lovely bottle of Vermentino wine. They also had a nice selection of beer. What a great addition to the lower King Street area. We will definitely be back and plan to add this to our regular weeknight rotation.
Friendly staff; Good service; tasty pizzas. Innovative selections.
