Emmy Squared Shaw DC
The first Emmy Squared Pizza joined the neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2016. With a tide of critical acclaim and an ever-growing cult following, Emmy Squared has opened its doors in locations across several states and has plans to expand nationally. In each neighborhood, Emmy Squared Pizza is dedicated to contributing to its communities and practicing the company ethos of inclusivity and unparalleled hospitality.
Not my type of good. Greasy and unsophisticated. Pizza look like too much dough full of carbs.
I would recommend Emmy Squared because the ambiance and food was amazing!
A very welcoming place with wonderful food! This is one of my new go to places in the neighborhood!
We were a group of 6 and ordered 3 pizzas and a loaded fries to share. Loved it all! The fries in particular were extremely delicious, with the bacon being particularly flavorful. We loved the style of the pizza and the crust texture (that crispy cheese is hard to top). The price point is also great. We all ordered a cocktail and our meal came out to under $25/person with tax and tip. A true rarity in DC!
Our only complaint was noise level - we were at a booth with three people on each side and the people on the ends had a very difficult time hearing each other. I would probably stick to a smaller group if I were to go back.
Great burger, pizza, wine.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced! Really enjoyed and definitely will be back.
We enjoyed an appetizer, two pizzas, and a drink and the total was still only 55$. The server was attentive without being pushy. Overall a great experience.
Great food and bottomless mimosas. Our server, Whitney, was fabulous and added to the overall exceptional experience. Will recommend.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end! Sexy atmosphere, extremely good pizza and stellar service! This will be a staple in my “go to” restaurants!!
The most delicious pizza! The staff was amazing
Pizza was tasty, so were the waffle fries! I want to come back to try the burger and other sandwiches. Service was wonderful! It was SO loud, I couldn't really hear my any of my friends. We communicated via meaningful glances and hand gestures.
Great pizza, fair prices, beautiful space. We enjoyed our dinner here - and having happy hour drinks at our table. Only con was that the tables against the far wall (where half is booth, half are chairs) are super super close together. So close you can’t get to the booth side without pushing the table back (and I’m a small person). I would suggest removing one of these tables to make things more comfortable. Or request to sit in a different area.
From Detroit. .. not Detroit style pizza
I just wished my pizza and wings were hot which ruined my experience.
Pizza and wedge salad were amazing!!! Burger was oily. Service was kind of spotty but otherwise fine. Weird they don’t sell coffee! Will definitely go back.
Two words: So. Good.
This location does not quite deliver compared to the original. We were excited to try and have in the neighborhood, however, the garlic sticks were mushy and the pizza (which we were most excited to have again) wasn't much better than your DiGiorno deep dish. The crust was crustless and that bite we've experienced in the past was lacking. Hopefully, they improve over time but would be hesitant to go back To Emmy Squared unless in Brooklyn.
Ambience great. Pizza was terrible. Soft and mushy like thick white bread. Only good part was a little bit of cheesy crust on a small part of the corners.
The burger was f@$king great! I f@$king love the Emmy Squared in New York! And guess what, I f@$king love the one in DC! Big f@$king surprise, right?!?
We had a great meal. My husband is from Detroit and was impressed with the pizza for the most part. Natasha was our server and she was fantastic! She was great to the kids and on top of it all. We had a great time and will be back!
We had to shout a little bit to be heard over the music, but the food was great, value was great.
The food was really good, and with a few tweaks, Emmy Squared could be a great dining destination. Our criticisms were mostly with the atmosphere and not the food. First, the music was ridiculously loud, like, can’t hear your dining partner or server loud. I understand that that’s a thing at restaurants, but I have never been at dinner with anyone who has said that their experience was made better by the booming club music. It’s unnecessary, and the speakers are oriented such that they are facing directly down into the tables. We asked to move to a table slightly away from the speaker and luckily there was one available.
The main tables are also way too close together. It’s a small space so I get why it’s like that, but even if one table were removed there would be a normal amount of space between each table. We went on Valentines Day and were basically sitting with two other couples. It was less than romantic.
That all said, we had a lovely server and delicious food. If we were to return, we would request a side booth or the tables against the wall that are not in the main row of tables.
Amazing food. Thoughtful service. Seating is super cramped though. Get a four top and you’ll really enjoy yourself.
Service was amazing and the pizza was reminiscent of the pizza my Sicilian grandmother used to make!
Poor service, great food
It was #NationalPizzaDay and I decided to come here with my babies and one of my good girlfriend's and her daughter - So glad we did! Emmy's is THEE BEST! I made reservations, via OpenTable as I would've hated to had arrived and they told me no tables. We had reservations for 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately seated in a huge (and comfy!) booth. Our server was simply amazing! I cannot remember her name, but my daughter kept pointing out that her hair was purple - yes, it was purple and really pretty too! The kids had their coloring sheets while us MOMs chose what to eat. After our server informed us that each pie has 6 squares, we decided to do 4 different pies.
I chose the EC Shaw and the Roni Supreme (with the Calabrian chilies on the side, for the kids’ sake) while my girlfriend ordered the Classic and the Deluxe. Hunny, these pizzas blew our minds!!!! They were ALL amazing! The pies are thick w/ crispy, crunchy edges (which I LOVEEEEEEE in pizza), a soft middle, and overflowing with toppings and cheeses. Want to know my absolute favorite?! THE EC SHAW!!!! the tanginess of the blue cheese (I don't even like blue cheese) mixed with the sweetness of the EC Shaw sauce was the perfect marriage of flavors! The piece of fried chicken on top with more sauce was like the cherry. The Classic is just as its name suggests - a Classic - tons of cheese and sauce. The Deluxe was overflowing with onions and green peppers and was spectacular while the Roni Supreme was super cute with its mini pepperoni circles (I typically don't eat pepperoni pizza) but Emmy's Roni is an exception!
My girlfriend and I kept saying how we need to return to Emmy's ASAP without our kids so we could enjoy our pizza's in peace. Even the wallpaper when you enter is cute. I cannot wait to return. The next day when reheated for lunch, the pizzas were just as great as the day before! If you're in the area, just do your taste buds a favor and stop in! 'Til next time, Emmy's!
We really liked the pizza!
Really small restaurant, you feel like you’re eating on top of the people next to you, but the food is so great you won’t even realize it. Great service too!! Definitely going to be one of our DC favorites!
Fantastic pizza and ambiance. Great date night spot
Everything was so fantastic - the food, the service. Definitely can’t wait to come back.
The food and service was outstanding. Not only did they accommodate our 20 month old but they welcomed her with open arms. From a kids menu and crayons to the general warmth and interaction the whole staff gave to her, they made us feel like family dining isn’t something they look down upon. We would highly recommend for the incredible food and great experience.
The food was excellent! The wings were delicious but way too difficult to eat - it would have been better if they were split apart into the standard bite size wing. It was also very loud and extremely tight inside. Other than that, everything was great!
Food was excellent - service was slow and it seemed that way for everyone. DEFINITELY don’t skip out on the burger
Great customer service with very attentive staff. The pizza was not as high quality (crust was a little too soft/almost soggy in the middle and not as crispy of a crust throughout) as the one I had in NYC East Village but it was still tasty! The atmosphere was casual and I loved the sophisticated industrial look of the place. I would come again!
We ate here on Sunday evening. The restaurant was not completely crowded. Our server, Tasha, was great. Unfortunately, the food took a lot longer than normal to be brought out. The manager and Tasha could not have been nicer. They comped our entire meal for the inconvenience. We will definitely be back for another visit and will hope that Tasha is working that evening.
Burger and pizza were amazing. Can’t wait to go back!
Everything we ordered was delicious, and everything our neighbors ordered looked amazing. Service was excellent - we're talking about you, LaTasha! Can't wait to go back.
I was so sad they didnt have the same pizzas as their New York locations.
Our service was fantastic. The servers we had were so personable and fantastic through the meal! Everything we got was amazing-still dreaming of the sprouts salad!
New place so still working out the details but an amazing staff - very attentive!
