Opened in 2005, Emmett O'Lunney's Irish Pub offers delicious food at reasonable prices with the friendly atmosphere of a neighborhood gathering spot. Sit and enjoy a drink at one of our two bars, come in for a quick lunch, or have dinner before or after the theater.
We pride ourselves in our excellent Irish & American fare, as well as our extensive selection of beer, bourbon, whiskey and scotch. We cater to a vast audience - the casual eater, business lunch meetings, pre/post-theater dinner; sports fans, the beer drinker (with two bars) and the budget conscious diner - and always strive for excellence in everything that we do.
We're your local neighborhood pub, right in the middle of the busiest place on Earth.
The steak appetizer was wonderful. Very tender. The wait staff was pleasant. We were late and when I called to let them know we would still be there the person I talked to was very kind and assured me he would save a table for us. We were going to the theater and the food came quickly and we had plenty of time to relax, people watch and get to our show.
Welcoming atmosphere starting at the door! Greeted immediately, seated by friendly staff at our already prepared reservation table for 8. Fast bar services for our drink order. Excellent menu options, including gluten-free. Delicious, reasonably priced meals all around. Recommended for friendly pub-fare groups pre- or post- theater!
Nice for a quick bite. Nothing unique typical Irish pub menu. But service is really good and value not bad
A wonderful lunch at Emmett O’Lunny’s. The food was quite good. We were meeting up with a friend that we hadn’t seen for a very long time. The service was very patient with us since we needed time to catch up. Even though we spent 5 hours over lunch we were never rushed or disturbed. A great afternoon
Very nice restaurant. Food was good& experience overall was quite good. Great place for lunch before a show!
Great service! Good food! Definitely will come back again!
Four of us all very satisfied with our meal choices. Would definitely return
From the gentlemen at the dor to the waiter atmosphere it was great
A fun, casual spot located near so many theaters. We sat at bar and dined before a show. Lisa the bartender was friendly and helpful. She made sure we got our food quickly as she knew we had a 7 pm curtain. Perfect for a quick bite and cocktail before a show.
Very good choice for a quick pre-theater dinner. Very conveniently located for Wicked, Oklahoma, and Beetlejuice, in particular.
Went here after watching a broadway show. Lemon drop Martinis and Corn beef were a hit. Staff were attentive
One of the best pub-fare spots in Manhattan. The only downside is that they supposedly open at 11AM, but they didn’t let us in until 11:30, even though it was POURING RAIN outside- we couldn’t wait at the bar?? Really!!
Lovely and friendly staff, very attentive. The food was excellent too.
The service was wonderful.
The quality of the food tasted prefab.
The portions for the price were inadequate.
The interior was designed beautifully and quite clean.
But when you get in there it does feel quite like a tourist trap.
Host was great, checking on us several times during our visit. We had the Shepard’s pie and key lime cheese cake. Both very good. We didn’t see much of our waitress but she was waiting on a lot of tables and others workers picking up the slack. Nice place and didn’t feel rushed at all. Restaurant was very clean including the bathrooms. Will definitely be back and recommend to our friends.
Handled an after theater party of 13 with no problems. Great food, options and service
Overall ok, make sure you take ID even if you are over 35! Food ok, waiter not great, table of eight took drinks order for two and walked off? Didn’t seem able to cope with a group but very friendly, lack of proper customer training seems to be the norm for NYC
I am considering not using Open Table anymore for finding restaurants. This is the second time in 3 weeks that a restaurant, highly rated by Open Table users, turned our to be a complete disappointment.
I find it hard to believe that my life's dining experience or my taste buds are so much better than others, but based on our experiences in these last two restaurants, I am either having very bad luck, or expecting too much, or those that are rating these restaurants so highly are just wrong.
We came for lunch on a Saturday. There was one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant when we were there; needless to say our service was slow due to this.
I ordered bangers and mash, looking forward to getting authentic Irish sausage with my mashed potatoes and gravy. What came were "HOT DOGS" from a package, boiled, with no grill marks or caramelization; they looked raw. There was a lump of mashed potatoes in the middle of the plate, with uncooked onions and about a tablespoon of gravy. I asked for some more gravy and didn't notice until we left the restaurant that they had charge me $1.50 for the extra gravy. Really?
The other 2 diners ordered the Shepard's Pie. It was more ground beef than lamb with peas in gravy, under-seasoned, in the middle of the dish, with the mashed potatoes piped around the meat, not baked under the potatoes, as it is supposed to be prepared.
Very disappointing. Not at all recommended. Will never return.
Atmosphere was low key
Food was very good
It was my granddaughter’s birthday and they did not even acknowledge it!
Food's good (haute gourmet quality never expected). Service was great, served made us feel welcome. Noisy, but what else to expect in a pub?
You must order the shepherds pie and go during the live music! Great place for St. Patrick’s Day!
Good service. Had the Shepard’s pie came very hot and good. My friend had streak which was cooked right and good. Also drinks very good and reasonably priced.
We were very happy with our visit. We made an online reservation and were seated immediately upon our arrival. The waitress was very nice. The food was good. More importantly, we met up with family that day and although our meals were pretty much finished, we never got the feeling they were waiting for us to leave. Would definitely go back.
Excellent comfort food.
Service was excellent.
A bit noisy but after a bit got used to it.
A definite go to for easy familiar dining
Food was great; nice place; friendly staff. Would definitely go back if in the area.
Great place! Casual with great menu. Went here before seeing The Cher Show and it was great food and quick service!
The onion soup was great, however, my reuben sandwich was terrible, cold, no sauerkraut..the service wasn't great, our ketchup bottle was empty and it took us asking 2 times for it to be filled, then the waiter lost my friend's debit card when he was returning the bill...we had to look for it on the floor in the restaurant..
Place was very nice. Food was outstanding.
Classic Irish pub and restaurant in the NYC theater district. Great ambiance, authentic and creative food, friendly service and a great value in a convenient location.
I was satisfied with everything until I got the bill. At the bottom of the bill they had printed the suggested gratuity and calculated the amount to leave as a tip if you want to leave 15%, 18% or 20%. I started to fill out my credit card receipt leaving a 20% gratuity, but then my wife noticed that they had already added an 18% gratuity to the bill. The server did not mention that the gratuity was included. I bet many unsuspecting guests do not realize the tip is included and leave double gratuities. This is dishonest on the part of this restaurant.
Very nice experience eating at O'Lunney 's before play. Beef stew and shepherd's pie outstanding. Irish onion soup great. Only, negative was wife's salad showed up with no dressing. Highly recommend.
If you are looking for a quiet place before the theater, this is not the place. Although the maitre d' accommodated us in a section that had less noise. Food was fine, prices were not astronomical, and service was on point. Water glasses were filled several times during the meal. We ordered the pear and goat cheese salad, and a burger. Burger was cooked to our request, perfectly. Would go there again. Salad had plenty of toppings.
Amazing fries. Burger was juicy and the bun was soft. Shepherd's pie was pretty tasty. Chocolate mousse cake was rich and very good
Fun atmosphere, great food and exceptional service
Great service and really good food at reasonable prices for NYC!
Steaks were not worth the $, the rest of the food was passable. The drinks were good but small(martini). We eat out very often. I would not return here, sorry🙁
If you're up for the possibility of a live band, or super loud music past 10:30 p.m., this is the place. Lol. Service was really awful... took forever just to be noticed. Our server was m.i.a. during most of the meal. Food was actually pretty good, so a huge plus there.
Excellent Ruben!!! Very reasonable & good service, location!!
