Created Tom Hill and Clare Lattin of Ducksoup in Soho and Little Duck in Hackney, Emilia is their version of a small Italian Osteria (transported to the Devonshire countryside) serving seasonal, everyday Italian inspired dishes using locally grown ingredients. Tom oversees the menu and together they cook and share a love for Italian food and natural wine. The dining room is hosted by Lucy Mastroddi and Paul Seckler along with Alice Phillips.

    Close but no cigar. Two of us dined for a birthday meal. The restaurant setting is beautiful and much effort has gone into recreating an authentic looking Italian osteria. It's a shame the food didn't quite live up to the decor. The dishes were ok and using great ingredients, however, apart from the butterflied mackerel (which was amazing) they were a little lackluster. And we left feeling hungry as the servings are on the small side. The wine list is overly curated. We had a natural wine, unintentionally, as it wasn't labeled as such. Nobody serious about wine enjoys wine with bits in. A true osteria should be about great rustic home-cooked food, served generously in both spirit and quantity. Sadly the service at Emila is a bit meek and aloof and with a service charge of 12.5% one would expect a little more grub and a little more welcome

    Wonderfully inventive menu and excellent quality food. Unfortunately the overall experience was rather spoiled by noisy diners on other tables.

    Food was tasty and I believe uses quality ingredients. Very much a sharing plate experience which is nice as allows you to taste more dishes. Ambience good, staff friendly. A little on the pricey side.

    Best meal that we’ve eaten this year (& we visit a lot of lovely restaurants!). We visited for lunch on a whim during a birthday trip to Devon & we will definitely be back. Food was utterly divine, gorgeous and interesting menu & drinks selection, atmosphere perfect and overall superb experience. Love the inclusion of offal. Fab veggie menu. Enjoyed sitting at the window and watching the world go by. Try the sparkling local red wine! Will definitely make an effort to visit again in future. And the new sister French bistro restaurant. Superb!
