Chef/Owner Matt Gallaher describes Emilia as a 'handmade' Italian Restaurant. We are located on Market Square in Downtown Knoxville just steps away from the Market Square Farmers Market. This proximity to local ingredients allow us to cook with the Italian 'Local First' approach and Housemade Pastas, Italian Breads from our Bakery and Hand Pulled Mozzarella feature prominently on the menu.

*The fine print: Fri. and Sat. capacity is limited to parties of 8 and under. Please call the restaurant (865 313 2472) to book large parties. Parties larger than 8 may require a credit card to secure and we reserve the right to charge a $25/per guest 'no show' fee for seats that aren't canceled prior to 5pm on the date of the reservation.

A 20% gratuity may be applied to parties greater than 5 guests. We offer an extensive, 100% Italian wine list, but we do allow outside bottles of wine for a $25 corkage fee, provided it's not a wine on our current list.

    Service was not good. Fritter appetizer came out ice cold. Waiter forgot to bring our drinks, which he didn’t seem interested in taking an order for. Food was “ok”. Overall a disappointment.

    First time at Emilia & we enjoyed ourselves. We got there right when they opened, so seated right away. Food was good & server was super friendly.

    My spaghetti noodles were hard to chew being less that al dente. The sauce was scant, and quite salty. I left most of it behind. The other dishes were not much better, but the scallop’s were perfectly cooked and delicious. We had to request our check because our waitress wasn’t coming. The cashier had the waitress bring it to us. The four of us agreed… we didn’t much like our meals, nor the service, and we would not eat there again.

    The server was just great, alwsys there when needed without knowing she was around. Her knowledge of the menu was terrific. Food was delicious too

    We are on a Speing Break driving trip through the South and this is the best restaurant we have been to, by far!! Pasta was amazing!!

    The food was very good even if the offerings were a bit stale; nearly all of the items on the menu were unchanged from our last visit a few years ago. The waiter, though new, was very good, and handled a difficult situation well. The same could not be said of the manager, Keith. One of our group inquired about the current steak offering and was told it was a 12-14 oz ribeye with potatoes and broccolini. For $52. Okay, at 12-14 oz, we can make two meals out of it, justifying a $52 price tag. What was delivered to the table was at most a 6 oz filet with potatoes and cabbage. When questioned, we got some push back from the manager, but after checking with the kitchen, he told us that we were right and that the chef had prepared one of the last 2 filets from the previous day’s special. The manager offered an unspecified price adjustment - to the menu price at which the filet had been offered. We expected a meaningful adjustment, knowing that filet tends to be pricier, but given the significant difference in the weight of the two offerings. (And the failure in communication between the kitchen and the waitstaff.) Instead, he knocked a measly $4 off what was a $330 bill. And then got unbelievably rude when we questioned the amount of the adjustment. I realize the restaurant business has gotten much more difficult in the last few years, but experiences like this sour me on the whole idea of “fine dining.” We won’t be back-unless the manager steps in to assure us that this experience was out of line and won’t happen again.
