Great food, and unique menu because it changes often.
Great food. Service was very attentive and never annoying.
Ember is a lovely, hip local eatery with a masterful chef -- perfect storm! We enjoy eating there regularly. We were meeting up with friends on our last visit and told the server that we just wanted to sit and relax; she kept our glasses topped up, reminded us before Happy Hour ended, and patiently waited for us to be ready to place a dinner order. [Which, of course, was delicious!]
We love Ember. The food is always interesting, love the pizzas and it's a pleasant place to dine.
Reading other reviews made me think this place would be a nice place to have a quality meal.
First impression when walking in was less than impressive. To the right, there was loud live music with a disco ball flashing and the dining room was not much better. Crying child and wobbly tables was what we had to endure.
The menu boasted fresh organic farm to table. That is the main reason we went.
I ordered the butternut squash cannelloni and could not eat it. The pasta was homemade, but thick and chewy. There were maybe 6 little chunks of squash in each one.
My husband ordered a steak that was served over potato hash. The steak was good, but the potatoes were still crunchy and undercooked. We sent the steak back to have it cooked a bit more, and it came back over cold crunchy undercooked potatoes. We couldn't wait to finish our meals and get out of there.
If you want a brick oven style pizza and a casual bar, this may be the place, but not a nice dinner or date place as the other diners and ratings indicated.
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an overall great dining experience.
Don't let the location dissuade you from going to Ember. The motif is very modern and trendy, just as is the cocktail menu and dinner menu. Wood-fired pizza was wonderful, but so were the brussel sprouts. You won't be disappointed.
My husband and I ate at Ember on Monday night Jan. 14 which was my birthday. The food was outstanding, as were the handcrafted cocktails and wine selection. We were there on trivia night, so we joined in the fun. The trivia game was run in such a way as it did not distract from our dining experience, but just enhanced the evening. I highly recommend Ember, especially for special occasions.
Modern Saint Simons restaurant with fresh ingredients, a cool vibe, and a wood fired oven. If someone blindfolded you, took you here and removed it, you might think you were at a restaurant in midtown Atlanta. Small but constantly changing menu. Food was delicious, well presented, and service was excellent. A cool find on the island!
Wonderful and delicious!!
Food was excellent and the service was timely and polite. Ingredients well fresh and seasonal.
Husband and I had the most delicious NYE dinner. Scallops, Short ribs, cocktails, and service were excellent!!
We had not heard anything about Embers and went pleasantly surprised when the food was better than the recommendations. Very fresh and interesting combinations. We will definitely be back.
Phenomenal food and service - an absolute must every time we visit
Wonderful meal complimented by excellent service!
What a great this place is. The service was excellent starting with our server, Rheanna, who was the best. There was a woman walking around the restaurant bussing, serving, cleaning and observing. I had her pegged for the owner and was right. She was very engaged in all activities. Rheanna told us she was the best boss ever, which says a lot for the restaurant. The manager stopped by our table twice just to make sure everything was OK. Quaintly, the gorgeous wood fired pizza oven was named Beatrice and everyone referred to it as such. The pace of serving was spot on. No course coming before the previous was finished, and no gaps - perfect. The food was astonishing. Do not miss the shrimp scampi small plate. This is not your ordinary scampi. WOW. All our courses were very good and the wine list special and reasonable as was the entire evening. Ember should be the model for all restaurants. They got it all right. It's amazing how many mediocre restaurants there are. Ember is not one of them.
Very exquisite menu which offers great tasting food prepared in unique variation. The baked brie and duck wings are in the appetizer menu and are items I love. The entrée menu offers red snapper and steak which are staple items which are cooked to perfection. The wine list offers a good selection for the discerning taste. Service is what you would expect when dining in a establishment that offers the kind of food selection and preparation this restaurant offers. Any time we are able to get to the "Island" we try to dine at Ember.
We had a delightful dinner at Ember. We enjoyed a huge egg roll filled with pork and vegetables, a great salad and we shared a delicious scallop entree.
The cocktails were excellent.
The ambiance was very cool and refined, which we didn’t expect given the location in a strip mall.
Good experience and great food.
We went to Ember last week while we were in town for the Ga/Fla game. We liked it so much on Wednesday that we took our family back for dinner on Friday evening! The food is fantastic! Local and flavorful! The flatbreads are incredible!
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable as well!!!
It's a Hidden Gem!!!!
We had several small plates. Duck wings, Shrimp Scampi, Marinated Pork and the house bread.
Ember is a unique restaurant on St. Simons Island that has a modern and artsy look. It reminded me of a restaurant in New York City. It uses local ingredients in its dishes like seafood, but they do not have traditional dishes that you see in so many other St. Simons restaurants. The service was superb and timely. We did tend to put the server off a few times because we were enjoying our drinks and appetizers, but she was very patient. Like so many good restaurants, the owner took time to greet us and welcome us to her restaurant. Overall excellent experience.
Interesting menu; server was well prepared and great.
Love this place! Wife and I are new vegetarians and this place provides great choices. The spinach gnocchi bowl was truly outstanding. We also had the margarita flat bread for a starter which is the size of a medium pizza and stone oven delicious. I had the small priced Caesar salad that was huge and tasty. The unique beer options are great, especially the 4ea 5 ounce taster board. Ember is my new SSI favorite!!
Greatly enjoyed this dining experience. Farm to fire is taken to heart here, and it shows.
The quality and creativity of the dishes we ordered definitely exceeded our expectations for a St. Simon's restaurant. Everything we ordered was fantastic. It was Atlanta quality, but without the Atlanta price tag. They also had a great selection of wines by the glass, that were well priced and more unique than a standard by the glass menu. It was an amazing meal.
First visit and we we're pleasantly surprised. We ordered six appetizers vs an entree. We will definitely return for another meal.
Great restaurant!!! Love all the food and ambience is perfect. ❤️
