The staff did such a great job. They were all right on point. Terra was our server and she made the best recommendations. We had the shrimp cocktail, Cesar salad, strip steak and asparagus as well as the lemon meringue. Each dish exceeded our expectations and had a little something special that made it memorable like the strawberry with the lemon meringue. This is one of the best meals we’ve had in San Diego!

For the most part, food and service were great! We really enjoyed the snacks, small plates and cocktails that we ordered. The were inventive and delicious at the same time. The mains weren’t quite as good but still decent. Out server was friendly, had just the right amount of attentiveness, and was good at describing our dishes. We appreciated the carrot cake sandwich that we received for our anniversary. The only real negative was that the shuttle that they promised to call for our ride back to the hotel didn’t get communicated to the shuttle service, and we had to ask again about it after waiting quite a while outside the restaurant.

I didn't care for the french dip sandwich. I appreciated the waiter asking if we wanted to substitute fruit or a green salad for the french fries. The fruit bowl was very good. The waiter did a good job but we were the only people inside for him to wait on. The outdoor grill was a problem as the smells came into the restaurant. My napkin smelled like barbecue so I'm sure my hair did too.

Our meal and experience at Ember and Rye exceeded all my expectations. It was a beautiful restaurant and we were seated outside with a beautiful view overlooking the golf course. Heaters were on to keep us warm while dining outside.

The drinks were pretty special - with the smoking ember being the winner. It was mine and my husband’s birthdays and the staff were so nice and attentive.

We started with the oysters and pearls which was pretty original - the cocktail/mignonette sauce was frozen into little pearls which burst on your tongue and helped keep the oysters chilled. Then we shared the tuna tostada and the stone fruit salad.

For the main course I got the Sea Bass in a Lobster Coconut “Cappuccino” broth. The fish was cooked perfectly and overall I really enjoyed the dish. I wish it had a little more punch of flavor. Everything was just very subtle but I ate it all. My husband got the Rib-eye with the bordelaise sauce cooked medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and was the best steak I have ever had. I had a little food envy going on haha.

Dessert was Lemon Meringue which is my absolute favorite- sign me up for anything with lemon. They also brought us out the carrot cake sandwich for our birthday on the house.

Would recommend 10/10.

Took my husband and son here for Fathers Day. The meal was delicious and our waitress was so accommodating on every level. Lovely craft cocktails, delicious sides and Smokey, crusty steaks. Only comment we asked for pink warm center and it came medium rare with a red center. Had to send it back for a little more cooking. We loved it and will definitely return!

It was good. Not great for what you pay. There are some great flavors and some misses. services was very good though. I hope this type of dining goes away post covid…ridiculous high prices under the guise of a celebrity chef. Who wants pretentious after what we’ve been through?

We went at 3pm for a late lunch—place was very quiet. Food was very good (scotch egg, avocado tuna, sea bass sandwich, burger, French dip).
A bit pricey, yet portions were ample and food tasty.
We will return!

The ambience was great which led to a high level of expectation for service and quality of food. However, the server appeared rushed and eager to get to next table, This is not good for a restaurant whose ambience is great and cost of food and drink is high.

The Waygu burger was over cooked and the French fries were greasy. The seabass sandwich had such a small piece of fish that it was not discernable from the bun and could not even be tasted with all the condiments and bread that came with it.

I blame the poor server attitude on management who cannot use the excuse of labor shortage since the food costs are 50% higher (if not more) than other restaurants.

Of course well imbibed golfers high on endorphins really don't care. Unfortunately for Embers & Rye, as a diner I do!

It was a great experience. Great service. Great wine. The seabass was a little lost in that big bun - but it tasted good! I don't care for the Bose speakers out there. The base and treble are boosted and there's nothing in between. The speakers and sometimes the music takes away from the outdoor experience / atmosphere. It's so beautiful out there. The renovation is beautiful though and I really liked our server! What a great spot!

Have been a longtime client of Argyle's and was looking forward to Ember & Rye - checking out their new menu and changes. We were both very disappointed - the new lunch menu was extremely overpriced and not very good. Both of our meals were bland and showed little or no imagination. The ambiance (over the golf course and lagoon) remains nice but probably no longer worth the high prices nor the food quality. Darn -- used to really like Argyle's.

Start with the bad...front desk team coordination w wait staff struggled, we sat for 10 mins before saying something and then finding out that our waitress hadn't know we were hers. And they were out of the Avocado Toastada I was excited to try.

The good...all the rest. The waiter who took over the table was fantastic, really helpful and made the evening really nice. The apps we had (Scotch egg and tuna tartare) were great, the steak was on point, and the sides were great. Solid wine selection at pretty reasonable price points vs their cost outside of restaurant.

Ember & Rye did not disappoint! Food was amazing, outside patio was beautiful and the drinks were great! We had the hot scotch egg, avocado tostada (tuna was so amazing) and wagyu burger. We also had the chocolate mousse with the chocolate pop rocks which was so fun! Definitely coming back!

We were 7 people - first time. Had several apps - mostly vegetables and they were all excellent, different and reasonably priced, even if small portions. The scotch egg - exceptional, as was the cauliflower "pot roast", sugar peas and carrots.

For dinner we had one of the large steaks (two people shared), arctic char, the beet salad (exceptional), the burger and seabass, plus the potato puree, an asian inspired broccolini and creamed spinach. Again, everything was good, except the sauce for the artic char was extremely salty - everyone tried it and said the same (and we had two orders, so it wasn't a fluke on one order).

Cocktails were good and creative, though expensive.

Desserts were creative and good - but pricy for what you got.

The service was very good - not overbearing, but always attentive.

Overall a very good experience, portions on the entrees were good, but everything was expensive - probably slightly more expensive than it should be - maybe 10% too high.

Would highly recommend the experience if you're a foodie - unique approaches and flavors helped overcome the sticker shock.

We had a wonderful experience at Ember & Rye. As an avid Top Chef fan, I was delighted to be at Richard Blais’ restaurant and see that the food was as playful, whimsical, and delicious as I had hoped. There were a couple nods to his days on Top Chef including the oysters and pearls on the menu (it was the amuse bouche from the finale dinner the season he won) and the knife blocks. Service was great and the view was spectacular. Needless to say, it was a special experience.

Argyle Restaurant was our favorite and we hadn't visited during Covid and were happy to get a reservations on a Friday night at the newly remodeled EMBER and RYE. Our server Jenna was knowledgeable, friendly and anticipated our needs. Service was excellent and timely. Our table for two was inside by the window, and my husband enjoyed watching the chef on the Santa Barbara BBQ handle all the steak orders. We would suggest the Scotch Egg, the Avocado Toast-ada, the rib eye steak, and creamed Spinach. The filet mignon needed a better char on the bacon, but was tender Brandt Beef, which is our favorite. Only suggestion for EMBER and RYE is to chill the champagne. All wait staff was friendly and professional and we were glad to see some familiar faces of old employees. It's a family friendly place and very lively. We will definitely be return customers and bring our family.
