Please note: We will only hold tables for 10 minutes after a reservation time.
This was our second visit, the first was 2 years ago when they still had the sushi menu. Maybe its a different chef now, but the food was not nearly as good as last time. It was just "OK" compared to awesome last time. We would go back again, but we wouldn't go out of our way to do it.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation. Asked for a quiet table and were seated in a corner. Noise was very high anyway. We sat at that table for about 25 minutes, and no one ever came over, although various workers saw us there. No one offered us drinks or asked if we had questions or took our order, so we finally just got up and left. Seemed as if the place was so hung up on its "renovated" "hip" vibe that it didn't have time for a couple of old fogies just looking for a nice dinner. This wasn't our first time at Embargo, but I'm pretty sure it was our last!
Great service and great food— extensive amounts of small plates if you like to graze and have variety for your meals. Really nice list of cocktails and martinis. A big bar crowd made it pretty noisy but tolerable.
Embargo is nicely decorated and a very interesting and flavorful menu from Tapas to Big Plates. We really enjoyed the Scallops as well as the muscles and the seafood casserole in sherry sauce was very good! The highlight was our server TJ who is the ideal spokesperson for the restaurant. He knows the menu backwards and forwards, made excellent recommendations and was very attentive to our table. He was a real pleasure to have as our server!
Had an absolute blast at Embargo. Our server (I believe his name is Travis) was top notch, super friendly. The food was really high quality. Very creative concepts and solid execution. Can’t wait to go again.
Half price selected tapas were awesome... The $7 Mexican street corn which came with no cilantro... such a simple dish that is usually so good anywhere was disappointing and not worth $7
Great dinner before a show at the Melody Tent!
Restaurant is great but the chef will not be flexible with a thing and the waitstaff lets you know he is difficult.
Excellent tapas somewhat overpriced for portion size but they were excellent.
Great service, great food!
Great time. Billy was our waiter and the entire staff was awesome
We had a lovely dinner outside on the patio for our 45th anniversary last week. We enjoyed all our favorites including the cod fingers tempura, the scallops with rice and rioja honey. We also decided to try the scallops wrapped in bacon which were equally delicious. The cheese board was such a nice start with machengo, goat cheese and gouda with guava jelly and crackers. The hummus and tahini was delicious on pita that was soft and warm. Shauna was a great waitress and kept our orders coming. She also helped resolve an issue we had with our reservation. We had informed the hostess upon arriving that we were a bit early for our reservation and would like one of the outside tables. She appeared to notify someone inside so we thought we were all set. Half way through our meal, I received an email from Open Table asking why we had not shown up for our reservation, which was rather unnerving. Our waitress explained that they do not reserve outside tables, which I had clearly indicated was my preference on my reservation but this was the first I was aware of this. Also, though I had indicated that this was a special occasion, there was not even a welcoming Happy Anniversary. Too bad the reservation management is not up to the quality of the food which keeps us coming back year after year and had made a special trip to the Cape for our Anniversary this year.
Using Groupon coupon was confusing and pointless. I understand that you cannot use for happy hour but why bother buying this when I was charged another 57.00 for using Groupon. Won’t do again
The food was amazing! A little pricey but well worth it! We would definitely revisit!
We sat outside which was great except for the noise of a fan from a restaurant across the street,
Pretty good food, American version of Tapas, nothing outstanding, priced too high for sure
Menu great. Food great. Drinks lousy. Watery with little flair - had higher expectations based on an entire page of drinks. Wished the server told us that dessert kitchen was closing as we didn’t get a chance to put our order in (we ate late). Training opportunity.
Love this place. Been going there for years now. Food is great... Tapas, small plates, great variety. Drinks are great. Wide wine choice. Awesome deserts, most made in house. Bar manager, Luis, is awesome! Staff is attentive and fast. Friday specials great values. Jazz musicians Saturday night. Dancing after. Easy, free parking a short walk away behind the JFK Museum. This place has it all. Our favorite in Hyannis.
There were 4 of us. Our food arrived at different times, and one item didn't arrive at all. The kitchen said they had sent it. We were never offered water, and our waitress brought the wrong beer to one person. While the food that arrived was good, we're definitely not going back.
Happy hour is great! Food was excellent service caring. Would recommend!
Nice restaurant, newly renovated, enjoyed the tapas, great drink selection.
Don’t miss having desert. Tapas are great but good deserts to share. Our server helped make our choices
Not sure music a plus if you want to talk
Amazing selection of tapas and each one was better then the last!
This is the second time we've eaten at Embargo and the best recommendation I can give is avoid the place. Given they have live music during peak dinner hour should be the first indication that they are pulling out all stops to get people into the place. We had the Hummus dip and it was literally disgusting--I had one bite and that was more than enough. Then we had their "house special" asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and although edible was nothing special. We decided to skip ordering dessert and walked down the road to a decent Mexican restaurant given the wait at the seafood establishments.
Had a fabulous time. Missed eating at this establishment. Glad they are back open!
Our waiter was great!
A bit disappointed in the quality of the food this time.
Good to see they have finally re-opened, this is a favorite for us!
We had a wonderful experience! Great service, great food, great drinks!
Noisy because it was New Year’s nice place Service was great and the food was wonderful
Nice place to have a few adult beverages and enjoy some good Jazz and tapas.
Food was excellent! We tried a bunch of different tapas and loved them all. The place was decorated nicely for the holidays and we had a great time.
Eclectic food choices, very European. Small portions are shareable. Wine list is extensive.
We've been eating at Embargo for years (mainly during the summer months) and keep coming back. The food is always very good, though sometimes they have seemed under staffed and confusion over the timing of ordered dishes has been amiss. However, we went last Friday, mainly to partake of their 1/2 priced oysters (all night long). Of course, it's not the summer anymore (so it's far less chaotic and crowded) plus we had an outstanding server. It was a splendid evening and the oysters--from Barnstable--were perfectly sized, plump, and sweet. Certainly Embargo has to be, even given some experience with uneven service, one of the best restaurants in Hyannis.
Too often Tapas takes the form of run of the mill appetizers. This was the real deal with many choices and great quality. We had a wonderfully enjoyable experience.
This is a great restaurant with great food and atmosphere. The service has always been above average except for Halloween night, when the wait person seemed a bit distracted. Everyone deserves an off night, so that will not distract me from returning for another scrumptious meal and lively atmosphere.
Excellent food, great service, price is moderate but well, WELL worth it. Will go back again...and again!
A bit of a bar scene and karaoke night are not really our cup of tea, but the food was very good, the service was fine, and everyone was friendly. It offers a wide selection of tapas plates, with seafood a specialty.
Embargo remains a favorite of ours, excellent food and jazz on Saturday evenings
This place is very overpriced and we were party of three but for some reason our bill had 20% gratuity included. We had 4 appetizers (I think we got one extra by mistake), three drinks and one entree that we shared- it costed us $174. The food was very fresh and tasty except chocolate cake which our waiter described as chocolate mousse but in reality was extra hard fudge like chocolate substance which we regret ordering. I wouldn’t go there again.
