ELY is a multi-award-winning, buzzy wine bar with great food, craft beer and classic cocktails.
Opened in 1999 ELY has been recognised as Ireland’s leading wine bar from the start, continuously awarded best wine bar with Wine Spectator recognising it for Best of Award of Excellence.

In 2022 at ELY WINE BAR we are going back to our roots. That means proper WINE BAR, the place to enjoy an exceptional glass or bottle of wine without committing to a three-course meal.
In true WINE BAR fashion, we’ve created a menu with WINE FIRST in mind, best described as sharing style,
driven by seasonality and simplicity, letting the flavours of the wine and food marry together

At the heart of this RETURN TO OUR ROOTS is our continued commitment to work with artisan, organic and biodynamic wineries. To support Irish and European artisan producers, to champion sustainable practices and nourish our team who help create and enhance all the elements and moments that make an ELY WINE BAR experience.

ELY Wine Bar has launched a new culinary & wine-paired experience with their new ‘Secret Pairing’ nights. The team will select three of their favourite wines with head chef Luca matching these with a selection of seasonal tasty plates. Each glass & plate is a mystery & will be explained only as they come, an experience that is sure to delight those who like trying new flavours & pairings! Head chef Luca works hand in hand with ELY’s director of wine, Ian, to ensure each dish is carefully curated resulting in the ELY experience being one of the best in Ireland. He understands the balance between the food he creates & the wines that they pour &, as a result, ELY is better than ever! Every Tue - Sat, €64.5 per person, 2 people minimum.

We booked a secret food & wine pairing at ELY for 2. Outstanding is the word to describe our experience. High quality (biodynamic) wines matched with very tasteful and well prepared food combined with explanations by the fun and very knowledgable staff. The experience was beyond our expectations and highly recommended

Cosy corner banquette table, lovely atmosphere and staff. My seafood dish was delicious- cod wrapped in spinach with a lobster bisque. Vegetarian main was too salty for two people in the group but may have been down to the choice of sauce. Aside from that, everything was lovely. Would definitely return.

We did the mystery 3 course meal and wine pairing. One of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. The asparagus risotto was especially amazing and all of the wine was great. We had excellent service and the place has a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone in town.

Went last night. Completely overrated. Two steaks cooked to order but bland in flavour. Chimichurri was flavourless, and spread all over the steak, which just led to a greasy piece of meat. €39 for one steak and three small onion rings (each slightly bigger than the size of a 2 euro coin), extra for the chips bringing it to 45.50. Way too expensive for what it was. Best thing was the melted cheese snack. Atmosphere-wise it doesn't know what it wants to be. Four-to-the-floor music one minute, something completely different the next. If you have to go, stick to the wine

Overall, it was a good experience. The place is very pleasant, with a beautiful atmosphere and good service. We particularly really enjoyed the wines on the menu — they were excellent. The food, however, left a bit to be desired. Not bad, but some important aspects left us a little disappointed. The breadsticks served as a starter were slightly burnt — just enough to leave a bitter taste. There was excess grease, dripping off. The croquette was very good, but also quite greasy. The second course was flawless — the steak tartare and risotto were perfect, absolutely wonderful. The third course was also tasty, but again, very greasy. The cauliflower had an amazing flavor combination, but the excess oil was bothersome and left a lingering sensation on the palate. The sides — both fried (onion rings and chips) — added unnecessary greasiness. And, in our opinion, fries and onion rings are not appropriate to be served in a tasting menu with wine pairing — they don’t match the sophistication we expected from the experience. All in all, we enjoyed the experience, mainly because of the wines, which were wonderful — we even ordered more. Considering the restaurant’s concept and price, we expected the food to be better. We would go back, but probably just for drinks and small bites, without high culinary expectations. Or we would order the tartare and risotto again — they’re definitely worth it.

Apart from the portions and the lack of options in the menu we really liked Ely Wine Bar, our table was very comfortable, foods were tasty and the service was quick.
