About this restaurant

  • Charming
OUTDOOR DINING: Our patio is uncovered and seating is weather dependent. We are not able to move reservations indoors in the case of inclement weather.

DIETARY: We can accommodate vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten, dairy, nut/peanut, & shellfish free diets. If any guests in your group have restrictions not listed above, or multiple restrictions, email us at info@elskerestaurant.com before booking, as we may not be able to accommodate.

ABOUT: Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room, all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting, is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

From the OpenTable editors: Sophisticated Scandinavian fare is on the menu at Elske, a MICHELIN-Starred charmer from wife-and-husband chefs Anna and David Posey. Dig into beautiful, seasonally changing plates—think smoked duck liver tart or smoked Fjord trout with beets—in the intimate dining room that channels a trendy Danish B&B or on the fireplace-decked courtyard with an herb garden.

Not only were they able to accommodate our dietary restrictions on the set menu, one gluten free and one pork free, but they didn't make us feel like it was a hassle. We highly enjoyed menu items that are usually 'no thanks' for us. Amazing.

We chose from the a la carte menu, which had a nice variety of starters and mains ranging from simple traditional to imaginative combinations of ingredients. Service was very attentive. We were pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable prices for food and drink for a restaurant of this quality.

Having come back from a trip to France the previous month where we ate at four Michelin restaurants (two listed, one that was a one star, and the other a two star), we were mightily disappointed with Elske. Perhaps at one point they earned a one star, but they clearly let things slip since then. We had the tasting menu and wine pairing. The presentation of the food was nothing out of the ordinary. Of the five courses, one was very good, the rest were either nothing special, and the sirloin dish with beef sausage was poor—overly salted and the beef was certainly not tender. The wine pairings were ok, but none of the wines was superb. When the waiter brought the last wine, a sweet dessert wine, he said that we shouldn’t feel obligated to finish it — which is hardly a ringing endorsement, and an assessment I would share since I found it nearly undrinkable. Early in the meal we saw another table with a loaf of bread and since we had not eaten much before dinner we asked if we could get some bread. The waiter said that it was a sourdough, never mentioned a price, and we said that the sourdough would be fine. The bread was crusty but since it was right out of the oven the crumb was not yet set and was rather springy. In France, every restaurant (Michelin and not) serves bread without being asked as they are proud of their baking skills. We were rather surprised when the check came and there was a $12 charge for the bread. I pointed out to the waiter that he never mentioned a charge, and they removed it from the bill, but overall the service was indifferent at best. Especially given the high cost of the meal, we definitely would not return, and next time Michelin visits I would not be surprised that their star will be removed (and they may be de-listed entirely).

Loved the atmosphere and unique and flavorful menu items. A definite must visit for anyone who appreciates quality fresh innovative food!! My only (criticism) was the food tasted over salted for me. I know most people love lots of salt, but I would have liked a less heavy hand. But, I ate every bite! We finished our wine out at the fireplace. A perfect night.

We had a very nice dinner here. We sat outside which was lovely. It was a little chilly that evening but the heaters made it toasty. Inside looked really nice too although might have been louder. The food didn't wow me but in was quite nice. Good service.
